This is a new train and the train can operate with the doors open? In the United States, Europe, Japan, Russia and even China, trains/coaches are equipped with safety switch interlocks that won't allow a train to powerup/move if a door is stuck open. I can understand if it was an older train as perhaps it lacked that safety equipment but not the new ones. The only thing I can think of is it's the only way to cool off the inside of the coach but that's what air conditioning is for.
@lukebccb welcome to mumbai. people hang outside these trains during rush hour - there's not enough place for them inside - there's just too many people. oh and the new EMUs are only new in shape really.
