  • Ben Hilfenhaus wishes he was even half as good as this bloke.

  • 0:06 to 0:11...that's what she said....!!

  • Funnily enough, Hoggie's seam in this display wasn't as good as other times I've seen him. Wasn't straight up, and was wobbling more than you'd expect of a top swing bowler.

Still, he was hooping it, so sometimes less is more.

  • @mymentor I noticed that too. Mark of a world class swing bowler, poor seam position and still swings it a mile!!

  • Hoggard had such an awesome bowling action.

  • I LOVE GOOD QUALITY VIDEOS

  • Thankyou so much for uploading this. Our victories from this series just don't get played enough.

  • look at that late away swing. unplayable really.

  • holy shit! kallis getting a primary! that's got to be a collector's item

  • Hoggy was the master and is a legend, sorely missed. Get him in the commentary box and also coaching young swing bowlers.

  • Masterclass in swing bowling. I am sure men like Anderson and Zaheer Khan learned a lot from watching Hoggy bowl well when they were young and impressionable. And boy, have they learnt well!

  • Incredibly enough, most of these swingers were bowled with a pretty scrambled seam.

    Great bowling but how bizarre.

  • @CoolStoryBrosauce I think it's mainly to do with his round arm action.

  • @CoolStoryBrosauce Friend, it's not scrambled seam. What men like Pollock and Hoggard (Broad recently) sometimes do is bowl with a very loose grip on the seam. They mainly use it for their outswingers.

As a result, the ball wobbles a bit but the seam is still pointing down straight. I've heard Pollock say once that some of his best seaming balls were bowled in that fashion. Polly's ball to bowl Dravid through the gate in Port Elizabeth, 2001 is one example I can give off the top of my head.

  • Hoggard was the unsung hero of the old English side, discarded without a moments thought, shameful.

  • @cabinet96vids

Quite right. He was treated very poorly. Very underrated bowler.

Can only imagine a team with him, Sidebottom and Anderson at their primes, with Flintoff as the fourth cog - that would be swing bowling heaven!

This from an Australian, by the way.

  • Superb swing bowling, nice vid mate

  • Great bowling from Hoggard. England really were a dangerous test side back in 2005.

  • @penchod101 Not a Shabby one now

  • @BenWatts1 I think the current English side is the best one since the 1970 side led by Illingworth. Marginally ahead of the 2005 Ashes winning side.

  • @Imrankniazi Before My Time,i'd say as a side the most Consistent i've ever seen,Stronger in Depth than 2005,although you could pick and choose on individuals.
