  • YES! the revolution continues!

    Fat tires over Skinny!

    Regular Clothes over Neon Lycra!

The bike IS utility - not "just sport" - the rest of the world gets it - nice to see the revolution happening here. Utility bikes, upright commuter bikes, and lots of folks USING their bikes all over now....not just going for a ride...but riding to go, to do, to have their bikes replace their cars for some stuff!

Ride on regular people! Ride on! :)

  • Maybe the fans of this bike don't do much high intensity riding where weight is a priority. I seriously doubt most of these owners use the load capacity of this bike most of the times they're out riding. If you drive a big truck for a living would use it to get a gallon of milk from 7-11 or take your normal car? Buy the cargo bike for cargo, a road bike for fitness, a mountain bike for trails. A tool for the task.

  • @2befree99 A trailer is certainly an alternative. I think what the XC provides that is different is that when you are riding it with a load, it still handles like a bike. Also it changes the way you make decisions when using a bike as your "car". You don't have to pre-plan your day as well. You have the ability to stop and pick up something unexpected. As far as weight – When you are truly just using bikes as a tool weight isn't really an issue. We are talking about getting to and from places.

  • @ibikefresnovideos Sure - if weight is not an issue buy the worst bike possible then! I would think 99% of bike enthusiasts with the slightest of athletic enthusiasm would be discouraged if they had to ride a tank of a bike around when 95% of the time they won't need the added luggage capacity. But then again so many bike riders are so out of shape these days.....so maybe that has some bearing. Of all the bike riders I know, not one uses their bike for any real fitness activity. Sad really.

  • So why not have a cargo bike for when you need it and a normal bike for normal riding? Perhaps the excitement about this product is due to people that aren't so familiar with cycling. You ride a tool (bike) to fit the task. Who in their right mind would ride this pig of a bike that must weigh a ton when they don't need to haul a bid load? Don't people care about weight anymore? If I go for a pleasure ride, I leave my 2 lb Kryptonite lock at home.

  • A trailer gives you massive loading capacity too. And when you unhook it you have your responsive, light bike back. I'm just not seeing the point of this design. Surely it can't be cheap. If you are using your bike for carrying long and heavy items every day I can see the logic of buying one - as a secondary bike. But for 99% of us, we just don't need more space than panniers offers or a trailer provides very often. When I do I use a trailer. Am I missing something?

  • @2befree99 //Am I missing something?//

Well, yeah. Spontaneity, for one. You never know what life is going to throw at you - a sudden need to carry a load or to ferry a passenger, or to give a ride to that really attractive person who just missed the bus - but the X is always there. And unlike a trailer, the longtail FEELS like a bike. It's astonishingly responsive, nimble, and fun to ride. And as for affordable, it's one of the most cost effective cargo solutions out there.

  • so these bikes are just better for carrying alot of stuff? is that it? cool!

  • //so these bikes are just better for carrying alot of stuff? is that it?//

@vinilla Well, that's hardly "it." I mean, it's huge. It completely transforms and expands the utility of a bicycle. It doesn't just carry "stuff," it carries EVERYTHING! In the 2.5 years I've had my X, I've hauled my luggage to the airport, carried 200 pounds of lumber at a time, built an entire garden without the use of a car, given complete strangers rides across town... The video doesn't lie: it's life-changing.

  • please someone explain WHY these are better....im a bit slow...and i love bikes...HELP

  • Longbikes are the future I couldnt be happier with my Big Dummy and all I get is smiles when I roll by with a passenger on the back.

  • Nice work. Great use of a broad range of photos, lots of fish eye work, nice music, and great quotes. Bravo!

  • i dont get it o.o

  • this is so whitebread lol... but I'm intrigued with the bike.

  • I absolutely hear you billy. There is nothing even close to the freedom you get from a long bike.

  • Xtracycles are the first step towards a carbon neutral lifestyle. I've moved furniture with them, but a friend moved 100% using one. Other cool things to do with them? But 100+ dollars worth of groceries with your kid on your back, skipping traffic to and in the grocery store. Rock on, xtracycle.

  • The music is by Bonobo, but does anyone know the name of the song?

  • Turtle (Bonobo Mix) \ Pilote off of the album One offs and remixes

  • If everyone could just own/ride an xtraycle they'd feel goose bumps when they watch this. I sure do!

  • I'd love to own one of these! I wonder if they ship 2 the UK!

  • EOMS

Xtracycle distributes through Quality Bicycle Products from Minnesota, USA. I don't know if that helps you across the pond, but mayhap there's a lead there somewhere.

  • Used cycles distribute them in Europe. Very good service too...
