That's a magnificent animatronic. Shame they didn't have a full body one as well. I don't know why but the full bodies are my favorites even if the partial build is more practical.
Hey Greg. yes it was an awesum effort and a damn shame it never saw the light of day. It was kind of like the end of animatronics in australia and an awakening of CGI i thought - very depressing ... until walking with dinosaurs lifted the game.... all i remember is sculpting in resin bog over the 3D foam core cut out form from Dave Renn's marquette and doing a full days foam latex pouring from 8am till 7pm to fill the skin - 24 hobart mixes if i remember right... the ol' John Cox days....!
That looks insanely realistic! If every movie about crocodiles used animatronics like this one, they would be twice as good. If this had a body, then it would be incredible! 2:24 It's like "Promise no to look, it's a secret! Yeah, sure. i wont look". and then he does. xD This is going to my favorites.
I'm not sure. The production took some of their own behind the scenes footage (which was pretty basic) but this is all from my camera and Sonny's.
We told them we had great footage but they didn't ask to see it.
The croc had a whole week of shooting scheduled but because the production was running behind schedule by weeks, the little bit that appears on screen only had filming start on Friday afternoon!. They only had time for 2 or 3 short shots with it switched off for 2 of them.

Couldn't help but laugh a little at 2:01. That's a ridiculous amount of coordination to even hit the ball three times.
This thing looks a little too real at times. It needs to be in a museum or something.
