  • The first record I ever bought, seems like yesterday!!

  • @oswald1943 This was also the first record I ever bought!!

  • Beautiful melody

  • i was a kid and this song to fairgrounds,i tell you this card

  • AAAAAAHHHHH I LOVE PAUL ANKA <3

  • after hear this song for the first time ive decided i want to name my daughter diana :D im 15

  • In fact Diana was recorded in 1956....

  • my Dad told me he had this song written for me, lol my name is Diane!

  • @sheltv I don' listen that.... that... that "something"

  • One reason this version sounds so much different from later versions could be that it was recorded before he got his nose fixed: resonance and all that...

  • une de mes premières chanson que j'ai dansé ,les années folles de ma jeunesse.grande nostalgie des sixties

  • At this time I was in love with Diana Langheim (of Treadfgold Street, Notting Hill) - I was eleven years old

  • I was 12yrs old when this came out. I was in love with a girl named Patsy Liebig and my older brother was going out with her sister Jackie.

I don't remember what I had for breakfast this morning, but I recall all that like it happened 2hrs ago.

  • I'm 17, but I like very much Paul Anka & his songs

  • @damianno15 Better than Justin Bieber?

  • Song of my youth

  • Pesma moje mladosti-Song of my youth

  • 12 musical morons?! This is one of the greatest classics of ALL time! AFAIK, he wrote this (his first) song for his girlfriend of the time. This one always goes over big, when I do my guitar thing on the street.

  • For a super rendition of this classic you might want to check out a version by Frankie Lymon which is uploaded on Youtube. No doubt this is Anka's song but Lymon does an exeptional cover that was never released.

  • my dad showed this to me to my sister and i about 20 years ago. songs like these have a special place in my heart. and this is coming from someone who listens to trance and edm all day long :D

  • How can someone dislike this?

  • Diana here.

  • i was having pharyngitis when i heard this song last 2006 !!!! xD

  • Godda love the first line: "I'm so young, and you're so old". *bursts out laughing*

  • was having my tonsils out when this came out in 1957 i was 10

  • When I was ten year`s old I was in love with Diana Langheim and then this record came out ..

  • Anos dourados pela bela música de Paul Anka...

  • I swear the comments on golden oldies videos are the nicest places on Youtube, all the other areas seem to have nasty comments and stupid arguments but I don't think I've ever seen any on music from this era, strange :)

  • ohh pLLLLLLLLse stay by mee... xD

  • Man is the creature that only can make music and sing :)

  • I've got the 1963 version from RCA on 45. Flip side is "Put your head on my shoulder" What is on the "B" side of the ABC version of 1957?

  • @dstraightone

    don't gamble with love

  • This is the only version, the one I recall from my childhood.

  • Ovo je bio ogroman hit u Yugoslaviji. Sve reči i sad znam napamet posle 54 god.

  • this song is addicting

  • I'm 17 and I <3 this song, especially when cooking lol

  • Love it!

  • Paul Anka ia a Canadian Icon! Check out the youtube of Warren Dean Flandez' version on Cover Me Canada. He took this song and made it an intense, brooding lament!

  • hey paul anka you sound like a retard

  • Some kid writes a love letter to his babysitter, and it goes to Number One. Hmm. Wonder whatever became of this kid???

  • @teddibearsworld Seriously? He wrote for Tom Jones and Frank Sinatra, the theme to "The Tonight's Show Starring Johnny Carson," and co-wrote Michael Jackson's "This Is It." Not exactly a one-hit kid.

There were other claims that it was actually a church girl or a high school friend who was the "Diana." So it might not have been a babysitter at all.

  • @cazonetta I WAS kidding, lol. And, I don't know... but I heard him personally say it was his babysitter.

  • Muito bom ouvir essa música e saber que tem pessoas que ouvem também e gostam ! Parabéns pelo nosso bom gosto, já não fazem música como antigamente!

  • Piękna piosenka , podchodzę do niej z sentymentem . Dziękuję bardzo . Zabieram do skarbonki . Pozdrawiam .

    ludkakostka

  • lol

  • This is a very beautiful song,I know it from many years ago. I like it too much.I think this is an homage for LADY D. What pity she is not exist now!

  • @dorumadrid1

I don't think, that Lady Di is meant.... The song is from 1957. Lady Di was born 1961... any questions?

  • hoeveel maal ik deze elpee beluisterd heb , ik weet het niet meer ..ik was nog zeer jong misschien 15 jaar.

  • This 57 original recording is miles superior to the 63 re-recording, which sounds middle-aged and lame in comparison.

  • yo im only 19 but u could never tell because ive been listening to stuff like this since i was like 11, damn i love this kind of music, why cant present day songs sound like this lol so i can finally listen to the radio!

  • DIANA. That's my name!! <3 The first time I heard this song was in a 50's style diner - in a jukebox!! :-)

  • thank you grandpa

  • Paul Anka what a legend! To think he was only 16 when he sang this! He had such a powerful voice!! <3

  • I love this music so much :O

  • I have this in original 45.Your upload has best original sound, many others don't.

  • Eu amo o Paul Anka!! Meu sonho é de ir a um show dele. Ele era lindo D+... Aliás ele é bonito até hj!

  • He's singing about my cousin.

  • cool

  • Did Anka get a nose job later in life? In all the photos of him when he was older, his nose seem to look funny. His nose here looks like a proper Arabian nose (actually he could pass for Latino like Ritchie Valens as well.) Whatever, he's a great talent.

  • @swampwiz No nose job but Paul Anka is 15 in that pic. He is from Greek origins. Like most of the Mediterraneans he bears our genes ... Our nose grows a bit longer than common. Big nose like they say is also an indication for a respectable reproduction tool. lol . Paul Anka is close to Latin descent being from the same sea as we are and our cultures have fusioned in the past.. Traders have been plying the Mare Nostrum for more than 5000 years and mixed bloods and genders along the shores...

  • @Chatelmaster Mediterraneans rock, didn't know he had some Greek blood, always thought he was Lebanese, anyhow a great talent. I have Greek origins as well, the Mediterranean region is a great fusion of cultures.............love the food, heading to a Greek festival this weekend, craving some baklava!!!!!!

  • Adooooooro esta música!!!!!Como Paul Anka era bonito!!!

  • Das war schon alt, als ich jung war.Und das ist auch schon lange her, aber immer noch eine tolle Erinnerung an die Jugend.

  • @johnjay393 jawohl, tak jest, you are right

  • I agree, you can listen to any other version, but this is THE ONE

  • i love paul anka his music inspires people

  • There is no way I could listen to today's music 20 or 30 years from now with the same sense of nostalgia that I do with this song and other songs of the '50s '60s, or 70's Some early '80s.

  • @GGE47 You think that would be tough? Just think about listening to today's 'music' after growing up in the '50s and '60s like I did! Impossible!!

  • i like this version of it !!! =D its better than his voice I LUV THIS SONG!!!

  • i loooove this song so muchhh c: and i love paul anka, he's so cute x.x

  • I was 15 and a teddy boy when this came out, thats when good music was about, i feel sorry for everyone that missed that time.

  • @TWAAAT1

WELL.. i dont think you a twaaat.. you can be anything but that.. this music still holds vibes.. I was a square and told to keep away from teddy boys.. what fun we had during those teenage years.. i was in Australia during some of those years.. love Paul Anka and still do.

  • Je mi teprve 14,a říkám toto je nejlepší hudba!

  • One of the many classics of a bygone era! The music of those days was definitely better. I mean, we are enjoying music 60 years old, would anyone be listening to today's music in 2070? I doubt it.

  • Hard to believe -- but it is true -- that Paul Anka WROTE "Diana," "Lonely Boy" and "Put Your Head on My Shoulder" -- all #1 hits -- when he was just a teenager. Later on, Paul Anka also wrote the theme song to "The Tonight Show With Johny Carson" and Tom Jone's biggest hit, "She's a Lady". HENRY.

  • @henry5h5 he even wrote the song "my way"

  • Love this song, love lonely boy too.

  • I enjoy hearing paul anka's voice !!!

  • I love this song so much!!!! I'm one of the 97' babies i'm 14 but i would rather listen to the 50's over this music today!! i love 50's been listening to it since i was 3! Me and my grandma would be dancing around in the living room!(:

  • my name is diana :)

  • @dlyediana Did you used to go roller skating at the Stardust in North Vancouver? Hang out at Ambleside Beach in the summer of 72? If so, I miss you.. wish I'd stuck around.. U be 5-8 blonde and yeah, look good in the bikini, but that's not why I liked you. You have a warm heart. That's worth more than Gold

  • @dlyediana hi diana

  • @dlyediana My name is Paul Anka.

  • I Love this song omg, Ive only just found out about Paul anka!! I cant believe what ive been missing out on!!!! I really shouldnt have been borin in 1994 xD the music wernt THAT bad, but seriously, I would have rathered, rock and roll, music with emotion, vintage cars, lots of close fsmily, having street parties, and half penny sweets etc, nowadays you cant do nothing or have nothing, people have to ruin it!!

  • 7 PPL DONT KNOW REAL MUSIC

  • Gilmore girls :)

  • my nan is called Diana xD + i'm going to name my child Diana <3 Love you Paul Anka !

  • The son of Lebanese immigrants in Ottawa.

  • This is classical music! You should be able to begin a class of the music of the school!

  • how the hell can anyone dislike this???

its probably sum pussy whos hooked on to eminem and lil wayne

    Thats NO TALENT

I wish i lived back then

i hate turning on the radio and all i hear is bullshit

  • @officialdjrequezt Technically Eminem is not bullshit! He sings about his life and himself and his true feelings thats real music! just like 50's and 60's etc, I listen to ANY TYPE of music litrally, accept crappy rap that has no feeling to it and is about sex and girls, whereas one of the few rap artists such as eminem I like because he puts feeling into his lyrics. JUST Because you dont like it doesnt mean its not music, just like the people who dont like this kind of music (which is stupid)

  • @officialdjrequezt Uh huh, you wanna live in a time where you have to worry about a global nuclear war and racial oppression instead of a technologically advanced, racially equal society because of one good song you heard, dipshit. If you dont want to listen to today's music on the radio, listen to an oldie channel.

  • @officialdjrequezt

    hell yaaaa :)

  • @officialdjrequezt they know nothing abouth real good music ;) with greetings from autria

  • @officialdjrequezt You are sooooooo right.

    ROCK ON!!!!!!!

  • @officialdjrequezt

    couldnt agree with youu more

  • @officialdjrequezt

Just so! Just SO!! That's why I don't listen to the radio. Nor watch I TV. I wander about YouTube and listen to wonderful music!!!!

  • @officialdjrequezt theres absolutely no way that eminem is talentless..... im not a big fan of him but stil......

  • I feel that I was not born right decade! I like Paul Anka and the songs of yesteryear! Today's songs are no content as I miss the times of old! Once everything was innocent and beautiful I wish I was born at the time

  • For you I will be Diana :-*

  • Wow !! As often as I've heard this great song,I never realized the soul Paul added at the very end as the song is fading. It's no wonder that a classic melody like this & a fine singer like Paul Anka could still bring out hidden treasures to make me dig this gem even more. Thanks for posting !

  • no i to jest fajna piosenka a nie jakaś lady gaga albo doda. Kiedyś to fajne piosenki były

  • Having grown up in the 50's and 60's I know what a magical time it was for music.I hear these old songs and remember the hot rods, wearing blue jeans that fit, combing your hair back to look like Elvis and the dates on Friday and Saturday night.Going to sock hops in the school gym and girls who looked like girls.Poodle skirts, the guys wearing the black leather motorcycle jackets, yes those were the days when being a teen were the best.Nothing in todays age can ever match them.

  • @foxfiredelta Me too, and I grew up in MoTown too :)

  • I stumbled upon this as I was actually looking for Blue Moon, and then I thought,, but of course, Diana. Cheers to a Diana I love dearly and who remains ever-so close.

  • The 50's and 60's were magical. I only wish I had known how special they were at the time. Not that I didn't have a great time and some really great memories, which the music brings flooding back, cause I did. It would be nice if my son and his kids could experience them.

I pray for the time travel machine to be invented and available to all.
