  • General Dextraze was the Chief of the Defence Staff (the equivalent of the US Head of the Joint Chiefs) when I was in the Canadian Armed Forces in the 1970s.

  • To the person that put this video up: Please take it down and then put it back up, so as to remove all the hate talk in the comments. Thank You.

  • @Fetch26291 Respect the right to free speech. This isn't the Congo.

  • @rex90986 Learn how to spell you third grade failure! Oh the irony in calling me a retard yet you don't even know how to spell basic English. You're a fucking idiot I just said we were there to keep the peace and by stopping Israel from steam rolling over Egypt and we helped Egypt win the Suaz Canal. That WAS a slap to the fact of Israel and were weren't there to punch Anwar Sadat in the face we were there to protect his people you fucking retard! My neighbors are veterans from there too bitch!

  • @rex90986 Of course they were neutral, learn to READ and comprehend English! They didn't attack Israel and they didn't allow them to attack Egypt and kill innocent civilians with "tactics" If you call bombing heavy civilian location while they sleep a "tactic" By denying Israel the right to the Suez Canal that was a slap to the face of Israel. The only thing that was stopping them was Canadian UN Peacekeepers there to KEEP THE PEACE! You get you're facts straight and keep your ignorance in check

  • what is the name of this movie ?

  • @1488slav It's not a movie just a Canadian Heritage clip. We had many different types of these while I was growing up. They are basically national pride infomercials ;)

  • Cheese - Canadian propaganda.

  • why can't their be modern canadian heritage moments?

  • peace keeping was never the priority of the Canadian forces. It was a tasking not a vocation. Lefties have got to get this crap out of their heads.

  • Comment removed

  • i bet it never happend like that lol

  • the U.N. are a bunch of pussies

  • STOP EATING MY SEASAME CAKE!

  • Thats what UN peacekeeping is supposed to be like.... Not what it became

  • I sit next to this really ethnocentric guy in one of my classes and one time he said to me "You know Canada has a really boring history and that Canada does not help any other country don't you?". Well I showed him these commercials over facebook and was like 'IN YOUR BIG IGNORANT FACE!!'. Thank you whoever put a heritage commercial up :)

  • How is it that I never saw this Heritage commercial?! ACKNOWLEDGE!

  • I love the Congolese dude's accent. It's so funny

  • thumbs up if you wish you could have slapped HIS face.

  • to bad we don't do this kind of stuff anymore...

  • I am soooooooo proud to be Canadian!!!!

  • a real Canadian would have said "drop your weapon please... eh"

  • Canadian Marines don't **** around.

lol, I kid, we barely have an army.

  • @EdouardDubois we dont need an army because we talk before fighting... but the army we have is the toughest of all, they are the most trained.

  • @EdouardDubois We don't have Marines, we have a unified armed force (with 3 parts, Army, Navy, Air Force, we never had Marines).

  • @dave19941000

It was a joke, in case you couldn't tell.

  • Of course they they chose this incident not Rwanda or the rapes in Somalia or even how the Democratic Republic of the Congo is still a mess.

  • @Knoss These Heritage campaigns was to bring more notice to our contributions as well as snippets of canadian history. You cant expect everything to be shown. If you want to see that kind of stuff from Canadians, check out the Canadian film "Shake Hands with the Devil".

  • @agorlewski LOL yeah, i know, but you gotta admit - it's badass. :D

  • I don't remember this one

  • @0.26 it should of been BOOM HEADSHOT!

  • nope osborn in hong kong is the best one!

  • @agorlewski it's what the UN does when its rescuing civlians

  • Too bad all the UN does now is sit around on it's ass pretending to do something, i.e. Rwanda...

  • @spitfire690 I know right?

  • There goes Canada, whooping ass like always.

  • my friend she is from the Congo and she experienced this first hand

  • At 0:25...this is where Canada owns this guy...

  • "Who are you?"

    "I'm Batman"

  • they all were able to sneek right up to him, ninja style

  • MY FATHER WAS A PART OF THAT OP. WO2 in Pisa italy

    AND ONE OF MY Sgt s was a load-master in a c123

  • They never played this one. I never saw it, but it was fucking bad ass

  • SHUT UP!

that part always made me laugh

  • Jacques Dextraze was a beast he fought in WW2 and Korea also!!!

  • O boom Canada saves the day. :)

  • I remember when the Congolese ate the Irish Patrol also. Bad doings indeed. Really. Arms and legs in butcher shops.

  • Odd. I don't think I ever saw this one on tv.

  • Crappy commercials, but still informative on our history.

  • Funny you mention epilepsy; my best friend since kindergarten has epilepsy, and we both think that commercial is stupid.

Because that's all I'm doing: criticizing a commercial and it's acting, not the country or achievement.

I think I've done my job in making you look like the self-righteous tool here, so I think I'll stop replying to your comments.

But I will say that I really appreciate the work you're doing, defending Canada on the internet. Damn, you're heroic.

  • Let's put the fact that I initially said I LIKED this commercial in the first place (nice reading comprehension there, genius) aside.

I think you calling someone who has seen friends come home suicidal, disturbed or in a box unpatrioticm while you shitlist someone who criticized the ACTING of a commercial makes you a the same kind of asshole then the people who come on here and actually insult Canada.

  • Laughed at the acting, not the incident. Hell, I even said I LIKED this commercial. I just think all of the rest are cheesy and poorly made.

Hey, what great contribution was that "great peace" thing talking about?

  • I belittled a commercial, not the country. I took an oath to do whatever it takes for crown and country. What do you do aside from comment on youtube videos, hero?

  • @subdivisions416 Country yes my fellow Canadain but as a Newfoundland Man I took an oath of a Newfoundland Republic as I am Irish I am a Newfoundlander

  • Go ahead and quiz me on the Northwest rebellion, the first Basque Whaling stations in Labrador, the road to confederation, the Quiet revolution, whatever. I'll answer it.

I don't need a piece of shit, tacky infomercial to teach me history. And you have to be an idiot to think this would make anyone interested in Canadian history once they're done laughing at the burnt toast.

  • @subdivisions416 I am!

  • I've been in the Canadian Forces for almost 3 years, transferring to become an officer and have actually taken a number of university courses on Canadian and North American History from 1000-present.

That being said, the CBC keeps showing the campy ones that have almost no educational value, and are just cheesy.

Hey, did the great spirit keep the peace?

    What now, smart ass?

  • Thank you Uncle Dextraze

  • Compare the UN then to that of today's: a useless piece of money sucker, retreating at the sight of the rebels!

  • Isent that a G3 rifle?

  • looks like it

  • Looks like a FAL to me.

  • yes leave africa alone to poverty, war and genocide. Sir educate yourself about the subject before discussing it

  • white people and the government is the problem in Africa. w Africans must understand that. look at what the british did to Nigeria. God will never forgive that blood country. pease leave Africa alone.

  • white people is the problem? in 99% of the countries where had been war in africa aren't white peoples, what whites are in sierra leone? in liberia? in somalia? in former zaire? the war and corruption were by the black people

  • If we look at the origins of the corruption of Africa its due to outside forces, such as borders around areas where warring tribes were never meant to share the land... I wonder who decided where the borders were going to be? English, Dutch And Portuguese. And the resources and people I wonder where that all went?

  • Shut up bigborn973 what do u think of rhodisia when the white africans owned it it was great. then black rebels took it over they called it zimbabwe and look at it now. Also what about Somalia black africans ruind that how about sudan how about sierri leone how about chad how about congo how about central african republic how a bout rwanda. Sadly your doing it to south africa

  • willg19953 there is no such thing as white Africans. I will never argue with anybody that thinks that south Africa of the past is better than todays South Africa. All this countries you mention, you should ask your self what happen to their wealth. where is the gold in South Africa? where is the diamonds inCongo? where is the rubber in rwanda.? what happen to copper in zimbabwe? Africa is for Africans. The hearth of African problem is how this countries are put together . Africanize Africa.

  • @bigborn973 Albino Africans --'

  • So why does the CBC keep showing the campy ones? Speaking of that, I smell burnt toast!

  • Yeah....and why didn't I shoot him?

  • Nunquam retrorsum

  • i've never seen this one...strange...

  • The general forgot to said one thing. "Yes, United Nations Peace Keeping force... for the British and British decent" I think the French did send troops to Algeria for peace keeping mission. But in the end, ten of thousands of Algerian disapear. So you see

  • He's my late grandfather.

  • That's probably the coolest heritage moment we have.

  • @rousseau5550 correct it has a bit of voilonce and a scene that show Canada goes in wars ONLY as a PEACE keeping mision NOT as a mission to kill

  • @rexerexer66 This is actually largely a national myth. In the majority of the military missions abroad that Canada has been involved in it has been largely as "peace enforcers" and not "peace keepers" (and yes there is a significant difference). The result is that combat missions have been described in different terms for political purposes in order to make them more palatable to the electorate. But make no mistake, Canada's military has not been a peace keeping force for a long time.

  • Notice the FN1 Wep? That Riffle was Carried and handed down to countless Militias and Cadets,

It was a bastard to maintain, I would set my gas plug to 2, Even though it meant tennis elbow cleaning it,, But she was sweet, And i dont miss her.

  • the Fnb was such a better rifle then that stupid cheap m16 knock off they use today and why did they switch simple it was cheaper and the maericans had tons ot sell us

  • 3L, I agree the stopeing power of the 308 5.62mm was total. The M16 it can kill but if body armors worn at long distances it wont penetrate, The CFN had a higher compression with variable gas settings then.1.35 klm per second with total penitration on the FMJ rounds. Colt was a dirty deal that M16 as were seeing now still against the Ak7 7.62mm has half the penitration even in close range combat.

  • and what is that supposed to mean? The United Nations has done more for Africa for their millions of citizens in poverty and destitute conditions. But you say "Fuck the United Nations" shows what you know. Long Live what, the warlords and corruption?

  • I can't beleive it. A candian heritage commercial that I haven't seen before. Thank you!

  • Happy Memorial Day! This is my great uncle. His son joined the Marines to fight in Vietnam when American civilians were running to Canada to avoid the draft. He died from a land mine and his name is on the Vietnam memorial.

  • I just wanted to say thank you for posting these! I am from the US, and a Canadian friend of mine has been forwarding me these links.
