Needles was a big smash, i'd just left school in '63 and it brings back memories, they had a couple more big hits before fading away but the Beatles were kings and went on forever.
Je suis venue grâce a la musique "Use the man " de Megadeth ^^ . J'aime cette musique , je ne pensais pas pouvoir trouver des musiques avec un aussi bon son dans ces années la.
@57DooWopDaddy Funny, because if you remember ,like me,you probably don't have enough hair to really comb anymore!!Just a joke for you baby boomers out there.
That's what was so great about the 60's music scene- any medeocre group like The Seekers could get their 15 minites of fame. Now a days, the only chance anyone has is on that Tv show I won't mention or here on You Tube!
@Veekator I did some reading up on Ed Sullivan on wikipedia some time ago, and learned he could pull cr*p like that. Thanks for confirming what I have always suspected each time I see this particular video. Ed was a nasty old buzzard.
Difference between then and now, the lead player was regulated as second class, little did they know, the lead player was the the star. Good lads none the less.
@notlazy99 Who are you talking about? Mike Pender? In this video, he and Chris are being drown out by Tony Jackson. :-( Mike and Chris had the most beautiful harmony. Tony's voice had it's place, and Frank Allen is no substitute for him. I just wish they had stayed with this lineup. Tony was good on songs where he sang lead vocal alone. :-)
@notlazy99 Sonny surely did write a killer song!! :-) You have to forgive me for preferring the Searchers -- since they had Chris Curtis! Cheers! :-)
@Dazzily Do you know the Searchers thought they would have to re-record it when they heard the 'pinsaaa' -- but their Manager told them to leave it -- as people would notice and comment on it! And people did and still DO!!! It's the trademark of the song! And what an amazing song!
@BettinaBalser really? check out some of her acoustic stuff! she can sing! shes not necessarily any better or worse than these guys, shes simply different.
Fantastic memory for me. The Searchers had great vocals and wonderful twangy and jingly guitar sound (early Byrds when you compare it). Thanks for the posting Valhalla.
Got my first little tape recorder when I was 8 ...this was the first record to be taped on that little 5" reel to reel.....went on to record The Grateful Dead hot Tuna Jerry Garcia and have vault filled with the SF music ...live. I'll install it in your mansion for you!
I'm visiting ♥Chris♥ again, and bringing along my best girlfriends to visit all The Searchers!!! The guys all look so nice dressed up in their suits!!
Thank you, Ed Sullivan, for turning off Chris Curtis mic! Ed was known for pulling stunts like that. What a mean old man he was! Look up Ed on Wikipedia and you will be shocked.
@Percivaldurham -- You're right -- I put my earbuds on and not a note coming thru although Chris is trying his best!! And John has no mic at all, yet seems to be singing. ? Not much sound coming from Tony but he's trying to sing, as well. Well, that explains why somebody once posted that they all look confused during this vid..... Just when I thought this was a lip sync. Well, at least the video is nice! :-/
This is my favorite video of The Searchers! It's nice and clean, audio is excellent! Chris drumming makes this song so stirring. Love his smile at :43! Thanks for the beautiful video!

I also love the remark about not to mention Lady Gaga in this context!
She and the 60's bands have nothing in common. But we had a hell'uva time back then....
