@Vaspius Capitalism SUCKS and destroyed my grandpas business as he died barely making it. My grandfather owned a small business until he got trampled on because the big bad corporate bastards could afford to do the job better and do things he could not thanks to the digital age. I despise capitalism (esp Walmart) Our country was built on the labors of small American Business man but now thanks to the BS trade agreement we are losing our jobs.
@Vaspius interesting take on it, I think you're almost spot on. The thing is, you can have a voice, you just have to understand the true nature of power, and how to obtain it in various platforms.
@Vaspius The background voice is tooked from a movie called Network (Released in1976). What is funny to me is that issue of living in a corporate nation is not new and the lyric is so relevant today that it doesn't seem a message comming from 35 years ago.

@valvocom i had a DEF-FX tshirt that was just a print of a whole sheet of those purple ohms. It was the skankiest tshirt ever by the time i eventually got rid of it. Good times though.
That's utter nonsense, sadly. There is in deed a huge difference between Leninism/Stalinism and Marxism. Marx has nothing to do with state capitalism. Have you ever read Marx or are you fully satisfied with being not embarrassed to be a Christian? If I were you I'd find it highly embarrassing to post stuff without the slightest knowledge. I can't force you to read Marx but I can recommend you to read the Wikipedia article on State Capitalism. That'd be the least you could do.
Communism of any kind sucks and I can say that becasue I grew up in communist occupied Poland in the 70's. Nothing anyone can ever say will change my mind because of our experience.
Reading my comment again may help. You (allegedly) grew up in "communist occupied Poland in the 70s". Correct me if I'm wrong, you are 36 now, does that mean that you read Marx in the kindergarten in "communist occupied Poland in the 70s". I merely said that Stalinist State Capitalism had barely anything to do with Marx's theory and his analysis of Capitalism. You are slightly off-topic.
@Vaspius Got news for you though, bud. Although SNOG is an excellent band they are part of the corporate machine themselves. They work for a record label, their CD's take up landfill space. Their books are made from paper which fuels de-forestation. The plastic they are made from spills toxins into our evironment etc, etc. It's good to have a view point, it's just best to have your own and not be hypocritical about it.
@Vaspius I could turn that statement around, and how many people out there are lazy drug shooting, rapist commies? If Snog is so unhappy with urban life, why doesn't he just go and live on a desert island or in the jungle? He'll be much happier there. If you don't want to be part of the modern world, you have the choice not to live in it. But nice catchy tune all the same.
I hear this song all the time at a gothic nightclub I go to. I never listened to the lyrics though, how practical and true especially since I am currently drawing a picture depicting my supermarket work distaste
@frannbro danced to this and loved this song 15 years ago- I am old. SNOG were ahead of thier time, and sadly missed. Aussie industrial - I loved them for it
the USA is technically a corporation.. why is it that the leader is called the 'president'? A president presides over a corporation.
I have been a fan of Snog for most of my lifetime.. its epic and conveys a message that YES, you must question everything around you. You will realise how much we are used to someone elses idea of a "free world".
@LOLDISNEYLAND Late response but your comment is silly. We called our countries leader president before we established corporate structure and decided the companies leader should be called president. Good song tho
This song sounds better as a 45rpm being played on a 33rpm record player. Its much slower, with a more menancing sound. I love it....this fast club version, not so much.
You can do that with some dj cd setups- depends on the make and model- slowed down a song that sounded normal (but was too fast for the best feel of the song) one of the times I djed.
this was a global classic for many years in industrial nightclubs - I must have been requesed to play it at every club (or I did anyway as it filled the dancefloor) for about 8 years and most clubs I went to elsewhere played this and several other Snog songs.
Hmm welp the cool robot sounds. Alot of those same noises are recycled for movies but Ed209 used them in RC. On the same CD as this song Snog also samples from a cool show "The Prisoner" an allegorical UK 1960s science fiction television series.
Another good sample band, My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult pretriphop days. But they had strong satanic overtones so not everyone can get past that, I just liked the noises and singing =)
hmm I think some of those sweeping robot sounds may have been sampled from tracks by Clock DVA, along with a snare or two... i'll have to do more comparitive investigating to find out for sure
@STANKYweaselTEETS I never caught any robocop samples in this song...some of them are from the movie "Network," and also from Timothy Leary's "Turn On, Tune In, Drop Out."
To me thats a strong point Ambrosios makes. I always pictured the person who wrote and sings this as a drug user who is caught in the gears of capitalism and addiction. One prison by choice the other by force.
Cheers for uploading this! It reminds me of seeing Snog live uptairs at the Prince of Wales in St Kilda Melbourne in the early 90's They also played a remix of a TAC drink-driving video before they came on, I would LOVE to find that if anyone can help :-)
And anything from Foil too - another Melbourne band from that time - cheers!
i absolutely hate how i had to watch an ad before this song.
