for the last problem what do you mean by anything from positive infinit to negative infinity will work? -4 doesn't work and isn't negative 4 included in your solution . since ur saying negative infinity ur saying -4 will work but it doesn't -4^2+4=-12
The video lesson is great for students who learn the solving process for the first time. However, they don't need to repeat all solving steps each time. They only need to use a simple rule when solving by the number line and test point method.
First, plot 2 real roots on the number line. They divide it into 1 segment and 2 rays. Always use O as test point. Substitute x = 0 into the inequality. If it is true, then the origin is located on the true segment (or true ray). Use intervals for answers
Once you're really comfortable with visualizing the graphs of quadratic and cubic functions, it's much simpler just to factor/complete the square to find the roots, then visualize the graph. Doing this also help familiarize you with the end behavior of some of these simple functions.
Huh ... what if everything on the number line is possible? Like, I have 3 numbers that I tested out, and everything inbetween and to the left and right of the numbers are possible. Do I seperate them with OR statements or inbetween statements? Because apparently that's how much teacher wants them, and I'm a bit afraid =X
Hey there's just one thing that's confusing me. At school the teacher said if the coefficient of x^2=negative, then the number line=-ve,+ve,-ve. It's kind of annoying but the way you've done it seems much easier.
This stuffs really helpful :) Very convenient that you're left handed too.... Much easier to see what you're writing as you're writing it. Keep 'em coming! :)
thank you. Now I know!

can you tell me how you would answer a question like this?
| X^2 - 1| is greater than or equal to |x| + |x+1|
Thanks

So basically, every time the quadratic inequality is >, the solution set is a union?
