Part 6 and part 8 I can watch, but, frustratingly, part 7 says below the picture; " Not Available on Mobile "... Why this is, I've no idea. Never mind.
@bigpopparamma Doctor Who producers could sue Star Trek for stealing their "Resistance is futile" tagline (in this case its "resistance is useless". I think the Star Trek had this tagline in mind when making the Borg.
I agree. It seems limke whenever the Writers can't come up with a decent story they just chuck some daleks in and hope for the best, there's just no frisson of excitement the way there was the first time the Daleks re-appeared. How many times can they Emergency Temporal Shift out of trouble?
the producers say that cybermen never had a catchphrase and so they gave them one hence the line "delete". Now to me that's bollocks because they did a catchphrase and that was "you will become like us" and that was from the troughton era cybermen.
thanks! and i always did find their voices creepy. but at least they can be understood. i had trouble understanding the cybermen in the tomb of the cyberman. thank god they arent like that today lol
I wouldn't necessaryly agree to that. You know, there were several plots in the New Series, where the Dalek's involvement wasn't revealed until the second half of the episode, and the first "EXTERMINATE!" allways gave me shivers... In fact, the new Series Daleks are much more scary and menacing - but then, the Doctor has also increased in Badass over the years, so the Daleks had to adaptXd I've heard that they already reach a decent badass-level by the Tom-Baker-Era, tough...
I agree with you on the last two ones. Expecially the "army of Ghosts" one. I mean, did you expext the Daleks in that scary Sphere? They just came out of nothing... The lone Dalek also had a great shock value... The episode was one shock after another. But then, there's that effect that we see in lots of Movies and TV-shows: The more enemies are present, the easier they are to beat. Not that it's logical, but I guess that's how plots work...
Another Moment that I find quite impressive is the very first "exterminate" from 'The stolen earth'. You don't even get to see the freakin' Daleks, but even Jack starts kissing everyone around him good-bye. It tells you that a) it's the Daleks and b) they can't be reasoned with. Still, I agree with you, they overuse it at some times. still, I couldn't help but laugh in "Doomsday" when the Cybermen met the Daleks... "DELETE! DELETE! DELETE!" - "EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE!" XD
That was impressive, I know the critics thought it was too much but I liked it for the reasons you just gave.
I find the Cybermen's 'delete' catchphrase just a sad attempt to make them as... well cool... as the Daleks.
I do hate the whole 'One Dalek can wipe out the Earth.' and 'they were all wiped out' but they always come back in numbers in the hundreds of thousands or as millions. It's irritating because it's bad writing.
@DomWeasel One of the doctors I think it was Tom Baker explained time is fixed and in flux therefore it is always changing. The Daleks, ruthlessly, stolen time and revere it back to favor them.
I never really liked the new cybermen, I still prefer the old ones (especially from the troughton era) as they were alien due to the fact that they came from another planet. However with the daleks I was pretty impressed with as they never seemed to fail to entertain.
@matt2house Actually, I think the Cyberman are one of US living on another planet. I'd found the Cyberman more creepier than the Daleks. The earliest Cyberman costumes were extremely heavy so the newer ones are a lot lighter.
But those annoying 'scream exterminate but kill nothing' moments...
"Doomsday', the fight in the storage room as they transport the Arc. Four Daleks, a room full of soldiers and Cybermen, and do they exhibit the same elite tactics as the lone Dalek in 'Dalek'? No, they fire wildly and erratically, similarly in 'Evolution of the Daleks' in the theatre, they scream exterminate at the hybrids and get killed because of that time wasting.
i just recently became a fan and already i love this show

a sign of how good this show is is how scary the Daleks are despite being a race of evil R2-D2
SUPERMEDIABROTHERS6 1 year ago 7
@SUPERMEDIABROTHERS6 Except R2-D2 is 100% robot... the Daleks are living beings inside their machines.
longhairfan 1 year ago
@SUPERMEDIABROTHERS6 Well they technically were the inspiration for R2D2 partially.

its wierd not hearing the daleks scream "EXTERMINATE!"
omega311888 2 years ago
It's later in the story when they chant 'Exterminate! Annihilate! Destroy!" I think.
I find their voices in these early serials to be rather creepy.

I find in the New Series that they have the Daleks scream 'Exterminate!' far too much... To the extent where they don't actually destroy anything...
The New Cybermen voices annoy me... They sound exactly like a printer I once had which rather ruins their impact.

lol ya i never thought of it that way

For me the best Dalek moments in the New Series are these;
In 'Dalek' where the Dalek is revealed with a screech of 'THE DOCTOR!"
Parting of the Ways where they appear at the space station window and the lights flash 'ex-ter-mi-nate' but it's soundless.
Their entrance in 'Army of Ghosts'.
And 'My vision is NOT impaired!" From 'The Stolen Earth'.
