This little bit of music heaven transports the listener. Arlo and Pete are really communicating with the music. I once heard Pete Seeger describe how once when he and Arlo saw each other approaching in the distance after not seeing each other in a long while, they both broke into yodeling. Beats talking when you can yodel like this.
so many thanks for this post - a little piece of music heaven the way Arlo and Pete yodeling together transports you across any distance. I once heard Pete Seeger describe how when he and Arlo would see each other approaching from the distance they would break out yodeling to each other.
Nice version. I have a recording of Pete doing this song and telling how he learned it from Cisco Houston. What a great hobo song. I first heard this by the Sons of The Pioneers, but always liked Pete's version better. When he sings it you can see the desert and the moon and feel like you are there. One of my favorite songs to sing.
Great to hear this great tune! My sister lived out in Denver in the early 70's and saw Seeger and Arlo at Red Rocks--to this day she says it was the best damned concert she ever went to. Thanks for putting this video online!
My gosh, where did you get this! I had the double album that Pete and Arlo recorded back in the mid 70's that had this song on it and seeing this recording sure brought back a lot of great memories. Would love to have had a video of one of their shows together; it ould have been great.
They are fantastic. Can't get any better.

That two-part harmony bit makes me feel like I'm floating on a magic carpet.
Beautiful.

This song is the main theme in the movie "Raising Arizona," though that version is performed by someone else, and the whole song is yodeled.
