The national security agency has what is known as remote neural monitoring and uses seti technology to place images directly inside the human mind. Instead of using this technology to heal the blind people. They use it to harass people. They could make glasses that relay images to satellite and then the satellite relays those images back to that part of the mind. It could get us out of our trillian dollar deficit!
It hurt quite a lot, but not as much as I expected. Maybe that's the trick. I was expecting it to be the most painful thing I'd ever experienced, so when it was less than that it didn't seem so bad. It was harder mentally (overcoming my natural inhibition against harming myself) than physically. My brain *really* didn't want to let me do it. Made me think a lot about what must happen in the heads of people who harm themselves deliberately, but that's a whole other topic!
