@c1371 Depending on the classes you take, it can be either a challenging experience or incredibly difficult, but SO worth it. They usually want at least 1300 on the SAT (I think) and some good classes from your high school. Just write some really good essays too, they love that for admissions. Hope you get in! It is totally worth every late night and time spent away from home! :)
also, what are "face checks" i read about in the student handbook...with all these curfews and stuff it makes it sound like everyday life is interrupted every few hours every day to go to some "face check" and impossible to live a normal life. is this true or are these types of things hassle-free to the student? sorry for all the questions and thanks in advance lol
@guitarbrain666 face checks are basically from 6:30-7 and you just have to go in to your SLC's room and be like "I'm alive" and they check your name off on a list. It isn't too bad, really. If you need to do something else, you can get "SP" or Special Permission and you don't have to be there. It is totally possible to live a "normal" life, I promise! lol! People like to over-exaggerate on how annoying it is. And no worries! Feel free to ask me any other questions you want! :)
@guitarbrain666 And yes, it was SOOOO much fun! You make friends that become a part of your family. I graduated 2 years ago and I still talk to a lot of my friends from the Acad. It is a fantastic opportunity!
@modis15 They look for pretty high SAT scores (since you have to take them to get in), good schedule of classes, and good grades. I think every year maybe 300 or more apply (don't quote me on that!) and about 200 (or a little less) get in per year. Are you thinking of applying? If so, you definitely should! The Academy is a great opportunity! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask me! :)
I got a call about 2 months ago sating that I have been accepted into the academy. I'm so excited! You should make more videos and give a virtual tour of the campus. I would love to see it!
@6heidy26 Well, it really is harder staying in than getting in. All you need to do to get in is score a certain number on your SAT's and then get some good teacher recommendations. :) Thinking of applying?
