That is pathetic they should atleast put warnings up when you enter the track there's construction work going on at Bergwerk.

Even the warning signs should have been half mile to make people more aware that there's lickly to be a que ahead.

Or better still close the road while these repares are going on or do the work at night.

Even while people came upto the accident they should of got out of the way (like the video driver) rather than sit there giving other people less room to slow down an

Also the distance from the original crash and the final impact was getting shorter all the time due to stopping cars and so he had less distance to stop than most others. Immediately after this the brakes on the ring taxi and a I think a Porsche along side us caught fire and had to be put out with an extinguisher. The electronic sign should have been further down the hill, there is no doubt. But, the main thing is no one died!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I arrived at the scene and parked next to my mate in the blue TVR at the rear right which was almost colected by the ring taxi. He only just managed to stop. The ring taxi was driven by a male driver and was also probably going a lot faster than my mate as he knew where he was going. It is no wonder he didn't stop in time. There was a marshall running back by the electronic sign as we passed it, he looked scared shitless and was frantically waving us to slow which we did and stopped comfortably.

Am Sonntagnachmittag gegen 14:00 h kam es auf der Nordschleife des Nürburgrings im Rahmen einer Touristenfahrt zu einem schweren Verkehrsunfall, an dem insgesamt 8 Fahrzeuge beteiligt waren. Die Fahrer kamen dabei aus mehreren europäischen Ländern, wobei sich der Unfall offenbar in 2 Phasen abspielte.

Ursächlich für das Unfallgeschehen war vermutlich überhöhte Geschwindigkeit. So ist im Streckenabschnitt "Bergwerk" durch eine Baufirma ein sogenannter Geschwindigkeitstrichter eingerichtet. Während drei Fahrzeugführer dies erkannten, konnte ein vierter Fahrer aus England nach Bremsversuch einen seitlichen Zusammenstoß mit einem vorausfahrenden Wagen jedoch nicht verhindern. Anschließend schleuderte er in den Grünstreifen und circa 50 m weiter wieder zurück auf die Fahrbahn.

Hierbei stieß er noch gegen die beiden anderen vorausfahrenden Pkw.

Die sich so abspielende Unfallsituation wurden von drei weiteren Fahrern erkannt und sie konnten ihre Pkw abbremsen. Ein weiterer Wagen, das sogenannte Ringtaxi, prallte jedoch gegen einen der abbremsenden Wagen. Anschließend stieß das Ringtaxi noch gegen einen weiteren Pkw und kam links neben der Fahrbahn zum Stehen.

Bilanz des Unfalls: Ein Fahrer schwer verletzt; er musste in ein Krankenhaus in Koblenz gebracht werden. Zwei weitere Wagenlenker leicht verletzt, sie konnten nach ambulanter Behandlung ein Krankenhaus wieder verlassen. Bis auf ein Fahrzeug sind alle Pkw erheblich beschädigt und nicht mehr fahrbereit. Es entstand ein Sachschaden von weit über 100.000 €.

Die Polizei aus Adenau war mehrere Stunden mit der Unfallaufnahme beschäftigt. Zur Feststellung des genauen Hergangs wurde ein Gutachter geholt

I love the Ring. I'm just 40 mls. away from it and adore it incl. the tourist drives.

The problem is, that tourist drives are no races (!). But the new owners of the Ring sell their tickets with link to the racing heritage and people behave like they were race drivers. That wasn't the case two years ago. And it's getting worse and worse - greed of gain. People have to know that tourist drives are no races. For real racing action on the Ring go an book a track day. :o)

Which will only give weight to those who want it closed to all public. We get the same thing every year when an accident occurs at the Is of Man TT and the "Ban the TT" clowns start up again.

@Spunkey1982 My big question is based on the Ring Taxi as well. Was that her first lap on the day? Was her misleaded in some way by a sudden change on the roadwork position? But people should stop talking blablabla about closing the track just because one point in the entire 21km length of the circuit. They NEVER close. That's the beauty and it's common to see signs and everything - there was a big mistake, I agree though - not as close to a blind-high-speed-corner like this.
