  • Well done, Maestro!

    Thank you for sharing!

    Cheers!

  • Yeah, it's a good tune. don't think that Adama and Roslin agree on that, though. The point.

  • I'm gonna cry my ass off ;_;

  • @nazriel Not without me, you aren't!

  • I appreciate the work Bear does/did, but this song shoulda been easy. Even I can see the humans are in love.

  • "it made me feel happy and sad all at the same time"

    "the best ones do"

  • Sounds very similar to "Leave No Man Behind" from Black Hawk Down. What a beautiful piece!

  • @dbzcoolman23 17 years in the army and I don't know that 'Leave No Man Behind' song, but I know soldiers who know Bear and Galactica.

  • Very very Good work on BSG !

  • I really didn't think I could fall more in love with this song until I found this video. Bear McCreary really is one of the finest composers of our time. For anyone who hasn't seen Battlestar Galactica, and McCreary's incredible score, do yourself a favour and watch it soon!

  • Everybody who does not yet own the fantastic soundtracks - shame on you btw - go have a loot at bears website under "Sounds & Sights" and then "Videos".

There you get to see some of his songs together with their respective BSG scenes. Less goosebumps for those who don't know the show but still fantastic experience! The last (live) video on the page is also up in its entirety here on YT. Just search: BSG Orchestra - Apocalypse (Live)

  • I listen to music from Battlestar Gallactica frequently, and only recently finished watching the series on Blu-ray. The extras on the disk about the music were insightful and help me understand all the incredible work that went into the music for the series. The music from Daybreak parts 1&2 is just astounding! The iTunes release included the entire soundtrack of the finale. The music literally breaks your heart - truly amazing musical storytelling here!

  • Sometimes, you eat the Bear. Sometimes the Bear eats you.

    -Casca Longingus

  • This music is so amazing. I can't even described how I feel.

  • ok srsly your piano is soo cool!

  • I've already commented on this song, but I just want to say Roslin and Adama is one of my favorite portrayals of a romance on tv. I can only hope to write - or more accurately even IMAGINE - such a real relationship between characters. There are time when you wanted to punch both of the characters in the face, but at the same time, their trust and friendship and the slow build up of the relationship between the characters felt so real, I was sad, and truly touched, when it ended.

  • @IronGoldie a lot of that is the actors, both great, and I think something more then acting there. to me... Olmos rules!

  • @efetherman So Say We All

  • most like the Black Hawk Down Soundtrack, but it´s one of my favorites on BSG too ;)

  • Wow, good job!

  • This is my favorite theme in the whole series.

  • My favourite piece. Uplifts me from any low mood at any time. Thank You for this, sir.

  • When I was a kid, my mom tried to get me to learn the piano. I never did, but had I seen BSG as a child and would have had the opportunity to experience this beautiful piece of music I might have done it sooner. With that said, I am going to learn how to play the piano now. This is as close to human perfection as one can get in my opinion.

  • Definitely my favourite tune.. I'd die a happy man if I wrote something as beautiful as this piece. Talented bugger

  • 1:10 YES!!! YESSS!!!!

  • Nice music. I'd like to hear you play Sarah Connor Chronicles. It's beautiful.

  • Yeah man!

  • You are truly inspirational, Mr. McCreary. This piece has been with me for years now, and it never fails to move me deeply.

  • This has to be my absolute favorite theme from the series! <3

  • No matter how many times I hear it, it can still bring tears to my eyes.

  • Thanks for the video Bear! Are you planning on uploading more videos from the book? It helps me learn the songs - I'm kind of a piano noob! Thanks!

  • 2:18 - The Raptor and the wedding ring. So powerful.

  • they should make a copy of your brain pattern

  • Inspired by this video, I tried to learn this piano on the piano. Thank you Bear for more beautiful music

  • This song is amazing, in every rendition I have heard it.

  • I've heard this song 1000times before, but this version gave me CHILLS.

Hans Zimmer is a great composer, John Williams is an outstanding composer, Michael Giacchino is an amazing composer.

but there is only ONE Bear McCreary no man alive today is his equal.

  • @tehoken john williams wrote a twelve part fugue. Bach didnt even do that. It requires too much mathmatical mastery. John williams is a god. This guy is a good composer.

  • Hans Zimmer is great, but he's only one of many great composers. This one, Bear McCreary .... is a GOD !

  • You, Sir, are a God.

  • Such a beautiful, moving piece. Certainly one of the most memorable from BSG. Thank you. Waiting to hear more.

  • Goosebumps all over

  • Thanks a ton, Bear!!! I *adore* this song. My choir had a senior project where you had to present your five favorite songs and research the composer/history/story behind the song, and I presented this because it *is* my absolutely my favorite song. You are an incredible musician and composer, thank you once again for composing, performing, and posting this .

  • "1 dislikes"? Clearly a Cavil model needs to be boxed.

  • @ScorpionXIII No, it's the airlock for that One.

  • Beautiful performance, Bear. One of my favorite pieces throughout the entirety of the BSG soundtrack. I do have a question though: was this at all inspired by Hans Zimmer's "Leave No Man Behind" from the Black Hawk Down OST? I hear some very similar musical motifs.

Please consider releasing an album of just the solo piano versions of the BSG soundtrack! All of these performances are wonderful.

  • Keep em coming

  • I've loved this piece since I first heard it in full on the season 2 album. The B section is my favourite, and as one of the other comments said, it's tricky! But Bear your music is wonderful, it's worth the time and effort to learn. P.s the little version of this on the season 4 album, 'Roslin and Adama reunited' is another beautiful rendition of this! Thank you for posting this

  • @prettypianogenius2 "Roslin and Adama Reunited" is my favorite of Bear's works. In fact, it's my favorite song. Not just because of the characters finally admitting their love, but how you get swept into the emotion of the song. It's an absolutely amazing and smile-inducing piece. Thank you Bear for writing it.

  • I want this piece played at my wedding and my funeral. What makes it incredible is that it feels appropriate to both.

  • We need a CD release of all these pieces!!!!!!!

  • my absolute favourite of all the BSG themes, simply brilliant

  • beautiful. Could you record and upload 'The Shape of Things to Come' - would love to see you play that!

  • Its hard to pick a favourite piece of music from your BSG scores because its all so wonderful but I think this one is the one that has to take that place for me. Thank you so much for sharing these with us.

  • YOU'RE THE NUMBER 1

  • please upload more videos. these are really great. MOAAAAR.

  • But what a beautiful interpretation..

  • Really great work Bear. I hope you're signed up to do the music for Blood & Chrome as well.

  • 'Roslin and Adama' has been number one of my '25 most played' songs on my iPod for the three years since I bought it.

It's my favourite piece of music of all time. I think you only have to listen to know why.

  • goosebumps :] the ost for Battlestar is really the best ost I've ever heard.

  • Wonderful song.. so perfect and relaxing.. Bear, you're the best composer!! So say we all!

  • So much.... life.

I love it mate. Truly, I love it.

  • Oh... here come the tears.

(The good tears; I love this video.)

  • One of my favourite tracks from the show. Thanks !

  • Hey, there's daylight now! At first I thought that was a different piano, it looks so different in full light.

Oh yeah, nice job Bear! I plan on getting your book. Your advertisements worked, for me at least. =)

  • One of my favorite pieces from the show, and most emotional. I still can't re-watch some episodes b/c I get too welled up, especially this piece. BSG was a stunning musical accomplishment, one that I will never forget.

  • It was this incredible piece of music along with the amazing talents of Mary McDonnell and Edward James Olmos that made us, the fans, fall in love with this couple. Thank you for giving us this beautifully haunting piece.

  • THIS is my absolute favourite theme, and the saddest. Accompanying Roslin's death, made me well up with tears SO fast. Thank you. Oh god, im tearing up.

  • Bear McCreary, F@#k Yeah! Thanks for saving us from the fakestra!

    -Rich in Massachusetts

  • Another breathtaking piece. One more, scattered in the many breathtaking pieces of the breathtaking BSG cycle. The end is frakking hard to master for an amateur pianist. Fantastic version ! Thanks so much...

  • Bear McCreary is the best composer of our time.

Even though I'm sure he'd never say that [out loud]. . . but if you're reading this I'd bet you know it is true too. He's better than Hans Zimmerman, Elfman, Horner, etc. I'd explain why, but his music speaks for itself.

I want to see [hear] his music in big summer blockbuster movies. So say we all.

  • @admiraln8 Hans Zimmer was never really special any way. Just a big name.

  • Every series should have music this beautiful. And awesome.

  • One of my favorite themes as well. Love.

  • One of the most beautiful themes from the show

  • Wonderful. Thank you. x

  • A romance between a commanding military officer and a president of nations, both of whom are 50-60 years old, all the while carrying this unusual relationship within a galactic Cylon war. Not your "typical" romance, so to speak. Composing a theme for this situation would have seemed impossible to any other composer. Except one.

Brilliant work, Bear, this theme is so much more powerful (in a sense) on a single piano. Keep it up!

  • Great video Bear. I do truly hope you're able to put these pieces out, played by yourself, in high quality for purchase at some point.

  • Such a stunningly beautiful piece, my favourite second only to An Easterly View. Nice one, Mr McC!
