People People People PLEASE... the magic of the song is it's sheer lack of musicality-Biz murdered some hits like none before. This group goes and makes it sound all musical, singing on key, melodically arrangements of the music-oh, the HORROR ;o)
"What you want from me, I'll give you anything. You want any kind of subscription to a magazine? I'll give you a potato? A mask of some sort? I love you."

Can someone upload a higher quality version of the song in mp3? I've been looking online for hours now, and the youtube rip sounds awful. PLEASEEEE. I've followed Tally Hall since they began after high school, and this is one of my favorites.
I am very high at the moment and do not know much of what is going on, but I do know that rap and metal are forms of music and require much talent, and this cover by tally hall is amazing and for I had to even that it wanted my in it for the whole song at least eleven hundred times.
@Nightlord2236 - You are right. But you know what? I like it that way. If everyone sees the great things we see, it wont be the same special things for us.
the cover by Red Hot Chili Peppers of Higher Ground which was made originally by Stevie Wonder got a lot more famous then the original and a lot of people consider it better.
Could someone tell me where this came from? I'm honestly a little confused because it's clearly a recorded mp3 but I dont know of where this came. Was it an older song?
@dmoogle2006 actually there is no difference between this song and the other, it uses the same instrumentals, the only difference is that white guys are rappin it. still sounds like music to me
@Dasprite222 Obviously you are tone deaf, my good sir and/or madam. For that I envy you because I cannot sit through the chorus of the original. Have a fine day, and may your life be blessed with a plethora of vaginas and/or penises, whichever you are into.
@dmoogle2006 Oh, no ya don't...can't throw me under the bus like that! You know the only reason any of us responded to you was because you were talking about rap in GENERAL, not this particular one. We ALL know Biz Markie's version sucked on ice, most likely because he tried to SING instead of rap!
And thanks for the genital wishes...that's definitely a first! Most folks just send a thank you card or a gift basket. ;-)
@ubercream I'm sorry, what? What does "less musical" even mean? Music is music, man. Don't be pretentious. Just because you don't like it doesn't make it any less music.
@ubercream Incredibly incorrect. Not anybody can just pick up a microphone and rap. And metal? Less effort and skill? The fuck have you been smoking? Try listening to Between the Buried and Me. I can't remember the name of the song off the top of my head, but it has changes from 4/4 time to 9/8 and 5/4, back to 4/4 again. A lot of effort goes into creating music, regardless of the genre. Just because certain artists don't put a lot of effort into it doesn't mean the genre is easy.
@ArmusIctus Lots of tempo changes make it seem like they must just be fuckin' around, strumming randomly and angrilly screaming in an annoying fashion. Also, do I even have to elaborate when describing today's rap? All you gotta do is write down vague lyrics about sex, drugs, and the ghetto lifestyle, and then rap them to a beat, while not needing to play an instrument most of the time.
@ubercream LOL. You really don't know music, do you? 4/4 time as compared to 5/4 isn't a tempo change, it's a time signature change. It's a change in the entire structure of the music. It takes knowledge of musical theory to do effectively and an incredible drummer to produce. If you'd even listen to the music, it doesn't matter if you like it, you'd have to admit that it takes a great deal of talent. As for rap, who cares what "most" rap is about? Listen to Atmosphere. His shit is crazy.
@ubercream The fucker is talented. It takes rhythm and wit to be a rapper. Not necessarily in the case of certain famous ones, sure. But you can't say any given genre is "more music" than any other. It's all music, regardless of if you like it or not.
@ArmusIctus Woah, woah, woah, man. Tally Hall (and Joe Hawley) is incredibly talented, even with rap. So is Biz Marquee. I'm just saying that ninety nine percent of all other rap is hardly music. Strongest example: "Teach me how to Dougie" is hardly a song, by the definition of what a song is.
@ubercream Don't try to back off now. You were saying that heavy metal and rap were lesser forms of music because they took less talent, which were both incorrect and presumptuous claims. And by the way, the definition of a song (yes, I looked it up) is "a short musical composition with words", according to Princeton. So, there you go.
@ArmusIctus Ah, please excuse my digression. Anyway, as you said, a song is defined as short musical composition. Teach me how to Dougie is quite clearly less musical, as the only rhythm is just the same three or four beats over and over, and occassionally, some sounds. Not to mention how the singing/rapping is just talking. This is one example of a song made by an "artist" with little/no talent. As much as I hate to say it, this is closer to the norm for rap, more than it is for other genres.
I understand that this band is a cheesy pop rock band, but they cheesed this cover up a bit too much. Extremely disappointing. I hope they don't play this when I go to see them live. :(
omg thats great lol. ok nothing beats the original but this is a very very close second. i love biz's "o baby uuuu" part the best but their voice is great too.
Seriously, where can someone get a hold of this particular version? This is the studio version and I keep searching the internet trying to find it. It says that you had to get some code at live shows to download it, but there are no alternatives. I can rip a 64bitrate version from this video (thank you) but it would be nice to get a good quality version.
Really love this band. This is a great cover, but all of their other songs are amazingly better. Very under appreciated musicians.
