The microphone is a bit to far in the front, you can see this because Mikael is "leaing" just a tiny bit forwards not to touch his pedal borard.. i think that the fact that the clean vocals are bit bad here comes from that.. but i dont know

Talvegue, u're right. Pre-Lamentations, almost all live Opeth performances sounded bad and were sometimed badly played. I know the band since 96 and just on the BWP era they started to play good and since the Deliverance era they started to sound great live.
On this video, the clean vocal is very weak but the instruments are well played.
I think it was because they were (well especially Mikael) nervous, since the lamentations DVD they have really stepped it up, they have gotten a bigger fan base and they are much more comfortable playing stuff live, also I think because Mikael cares so much about music that he is nervous because he doesnt want to fuck it up.
It's been cut since before Watershed. :P The Watershed SE documentary interview with him showed his hair already cut. Personally, I prefer it cut. I've never much cared for the whole 'long hair is more metal' thing. Short hair FTW.
Yeah, i know... i didn't say that because I think long hairs are more "metal" (i personally have short hair)... but i used long hair for some time and I think it's cool, specially if you play in a band...

I saw Tool at Bonnaroo and have to say that their live sound is actually better than their CDs. I couldn't believe how clean and crisp it was...
I need to see Opeth live because their live sound seems to be absolutely incredible... Opeth is so ridiculously talented
