Adaptation. I know how everyone wants the villain for the movie to be Dormammu or Baron Mordo. Both great villains, but they're just too obvious. Look at Batman Begins, Nolan could've used the Joker for the main villain, but he didn't. Instead he chose the not so obvious choice for the main villain to be Ra's Al Ghul. And then in the sequel, Joker becomes the main villain. So, I thought of saving Mordo and Dormammu for the possible sequels.
