for some reason, i hate the trailer for this movie. the movie itself is incredible, but the trailer plays it off like some wacky comedy when it actually goes deeper than that. the song they use when describing nicholson's character sounds generic and is probably the same used in the scent of a woman trailer, which also demonized wat that film really stood for

Im a blues man myself and i loved hearing the song during The Sandlot. but in context with the trailer, it makes the tone of the film misleading. it makes it look like the film is about "look at what wacky Jack Nicholson is up too now". great song, but its a 90s marketing gimmick

I was in New York in '97 visiting my dad and went for a walk and ran into them filming the scene where Jack's dodging the cracks in the sidewalk. At the time, everyone involved in the movie wore tags that said 'Old Friends' so I assume that was the working title. Ed Koch was there visiting the set. Pretty neat.

It just means that your moods can swing greatly to both spectrums. You can be happy-go-lucky and vibrant, exciting one minute. Then sad and depressed the next. Everyone suffers with depression at some point in their lives. Bi-Polar sufferers just get really manic highs and severe lows. An awful lot of the worlds funniest comedians and performers are depressives. I suffer with it myself. The OCD Jack Nicholsons character suffers with in the film is also very common.

What a classic. Have seen it loads of times, and always cry at the end. Nicholson is, as always, suberb as is Helen Hunt. The quotes and one liners are just brilliant. "sell crazy someplace else......., good times noodle salad.... don't ever knock on this door... Carol the waitress, Simon the fag.... too many to write down! My 2nd favourite film of all time. Only Goodfellas beats it!
