When I heard it during the Dead Space trailer I was happy as a child. The same happens when I hear any song by Sigur or Jonsi in a random Discovery Channel adv...
listen to this song (I am under the influence of alcohol, so maybe that's a contributing factor) and you will realise how transient life is - all the friendships you have worked so hard to foster and the family you have loved so much may be taken away instantaneously. Let those people know how you feel, while you still have the opportunity.
@EnchantedMagickLove I don't think there are any lyrics per se. Jonsí will sometimes sing in his own made up language, which is meant to sound like a mix of Germanic languages. You make your own meaning in the lyrics up.
I've been a fan of Dead Space since... maybe a year or two after it's release, but I never made the connection that a song of Sigur Ros (who I've begun just recently to listen to all over) was in it.
I'm a fan of both, but please leave a video game out of the way, and just listen to the music.
I WAS brought here by dead space but this song has growed on me so much. i cant honestly say that this is the best song that i ever heard and its better then all the other songs i like and it even wasnt a hard choise to decide that. Absolutely a beautifull masterpiece. just to throw out there, try LOL-Dare Me i think some people here will like it
@MrPwner911 When I first started the game, I forgot how to run. So when the aliens were popping out of the walls, I was just walking by them, not getting hit. It was a pretty funny Nope.avi moment
I heard this song before Dead Space came out, but when I watched the trailer for the game, Major Goosebumps... I have never seen a trailer utilize such a work of art so well...
It fit the game so perfectly, the entire mood of the game, the storyline, everything... This song is the reason I bought Dead Space and I loved every minute of it.
Sigur Ros is definitely an amazing band, and I'm glad they're getting recognition via popular media such as Dead Space, and 127 Hours. They deserve it.
The lyrics I made-->: Don't feel.. Don't you lie... Don't fear.. Don't you run.. Yes I.. Yes I've found out.. You Finally fell in love.. Yes I've.. Yes I've found out.. You Finally fell in love.. Yes I.. You finally found your love.. Guess I went down... Guess I Failed!!!!!!
In fact there is no lyrics, he sings in Volenska, which is a unintelligible language created by the band. It is absolutely meaningless, though the band name this song ''The Death Song''. He says something like You xylo, You xylo no fi lo, you so...
@bhic4 I've been listening to Sigur Ros for 10 Years.. I already know that there are no lyrics.. And that the lyrics to their songs is more of a feeling other than words.. Lisa Gerrard: Sacrifice Is another artist who sings this way and many more.. That's why I said.. "The lyrics I made" (my personal feeling).. Normally I do not create lyrics, to keep the quality Original as possible.. Im a big fan and bought 4 albums... My all time favorite song from Sigur Ros is: Bíum Bíum Bambaló .Thanks :/
@Demineralize Oh that's pretty cool! I assumed you already knew, but I don't know I wasn't 100% sure, and like you I am not the kind to create lyrics other than what is really sang, so I thought maybe you didn't knew. Nevermind anyway. Your lyrics would kind of fit well!
Sigur Ros are my overall fav band and I do love Dead Space as well. But, honestly, I can't figure out the point about this fuss. The game is one thing, SR are another. Dead Space is an excellent game, with or without this song. And Sigur Ros haven't certainly become popular because of the game: indeed, I do believe they don't actually rely at all on the game as a means for success.
this is potentially the best music I've heard in years & I really don't give a fuck if i just heard this song due to dead space Sigur Ros is probably the best artist I've heard in years. Most generations of people should be exposed to this type of music and less garbage w/ auto-tune or heavily influenced on just rhyming w/ bad language that's why most generation of kids as they grow their behavior gets shittier i mean there are 5-7 year olds learning about sex and drugs due to these songs.
Some pretentious bastards get all angry that people found this band and this song through a popular game. I on the other hand am just glad people who otherwise wouldn't have have had a chance to hear real music.
I'm proud to say that I am a long time Sigur Rós fan and that I've known this song before Dead Space was out. The band is awesome, and the game is as well!!
I've noticed that in almost all the songs in this album, Jonsi is singing something like: "You sigh... You sigh... long time..." Anyways, Sigur Ros is perfect and so is Dead Space.
imagine if clint mansell and sigur ros teamed up to remake requiem of a dream wow in my head that would be amazing but at the same time i have my douts about it being good but one can dream
Lisa Gerrard sang on and co-wrote the Gladiator soundtrack. She also did the music for Whale Rider, collaborated on some other films. She has two solo albums, an amazing record with Patrick Cassidy who composed the opera in Hannibal, and most importantly was half of Dead Can Dance, with Brendan Perry. Without this band's influence, things would be very different today. For an excellent introduction to DCD's best period, look for The Host of the Seraphim.
@bloodyrain414 No, he doesn't. He sings in a made up language called Hopelandic. So there is no real meaning behind his words, they are just gibberish that fits the music. And yeah, Dead Space was awesome and this song fits the game so perfectly.
uhm I was trying to say that I love this music, basically everything sigur EVER did or will do ... but ... that one song scares the FUCK out of me.... on the other hand, I'll take melancholy over terror any day!!!

So sad when they put down that horse in Luck :(
