  • Saw them as support to Black Sabbath at Salford Uni. The crowd loved them. Caight Sonja at Glasonbury as a solo a few years back. will catch them this year

  • She is still fit!!! God bless them! Their music is a real jewel!!!

  • Holy Shit ! She sounds exactly the same as back then !!!

  • a good post of this song can be seen on ononothimagain321.Enjoy.

  • Is that Picturedrome Northampton?

  • @bsastarfire250 no .. Picturedrome at Holmfirth in Yorkshire

  • They were a talented group back in the early seventies. I read recently that Sonja's fave album of all time is The Rise & Fall Of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders From Mars.

  • Is the guy on the keys with the white shirt one who played on the original tracks? Other than Darryl I don't know the rest of them.

  • @zappatx yes the guy on keyboards is Darryl Way, drummer is Florian Pilkington-Miksa and of course Sonja on lead vocals-all 3 from the original line up of Curved Air. See link underneath video for Facebook & website info on the latest line up & dates for 2011. (more to come!) Sadly Darryl is not touring any longer, but Florian & Sonja still are :-) and the "new" guys are excellent!!

  • @BJCAshton Thank you! Being new to Curved air I had his name confused with Francis Monkman. But thanks as this is a great discovery. You can say I've been a King Crimson - Bill Bruford fan for ages and just found out about Curved Air through a Mellotron friend of mine!!

  • I still love Sonja after so many years!

  • still a top knock out tune !!!!

  • They are still touring, and I will be going to see them at the Sonic Rock Solstice in Builth Wells in June.....17th - 19th to be exact. Come along,it's a great little festival.

  • @Andy705 would suggest anyone who is interested in seeing the band live in 2011 joins the band's & Sonja's Facebook pages. (Links are provided in the info box under the video.) Thanks everyone for your comments on here!!

  • @BJCAshton Thanks bud...already there.

  • @Andy705 Ditto!!

  • happy b'day Sonja!!! still luvn'ya

    lovely lady!

  • I would still do her

  • The years have not diminished Sonja's sensuality, or the power of her voice!

  • Sonja Kritina's voice still gives me goose bumps, after 35 years or more. Great song. Great performance of her and the band.

  • Curved Air´s real farewell album was "Airborne" (1976) with Eddie Jobson on kb & violin replacing Daryl Way. Kind of Curved Air Mark II...I love(d) that album, probably their best. They returned a couple of times in the 80s,90s and early 2000s. The destiny of old prog - bands seems to be "let´s celebrate our own legend" (to get some money out of it, at least.) That counts for many other old bands (sad about it !) However, I love them anyway....

  • @Tarabos1 Eddie Jobson played on Aircut in 1973 ...Darryl returned for the Live album tour , Midnight Wire and Airborne (with Stewart Copeland) which was the last Album in 1976... Darryl and Sonja recorded together as Curved Air 1984 . The original Line-up reformed for two concerts in 1990 , the desk-recording of the T&C2 concert was released as 'Alive 1990 '..

  • WOW!!! Still love her!!! Fantastic performance, and she still 'knows' what she has been to so many! A true professional.

  • Oh Yes! Sonja is 60 - so am I, but she's aged about 1/2 as much as me :-(

  • Our dear Sonja looks fabulous great.

But don't forget that there's a "favourable unsharpness" in this video. And don't be desperate:

I'm sure, with a becoming and kind lighting engineering you look great too :)

Thanks to BJC for posting this wonderful performance of CurvedAir's classic ...

  • i of my favs

  • back in the mid-70's Curved Air were the biggest band that regularly played the not quite top rank venue in my home town. Sonja was, how shall I put it, the subject of much admiration amongst us pimply 17 year olds - well, I'm 53 now, but I've aged nicely and, looking at this, so has Sonja. Nice to see - thanks.

  • Did she used to be hot?

Instrumental in this is really good =]

Wish she didn't go higher in that one bit. But it's understandable she'd of gotten bored of how she originally sung it by now

  • Behave yourself...!

  • Dude. Sonja is an irresistible fox. Hot as ever

  • Sonia is still as hot as any of todays fakes and wannabe's!

  • @JAYROX1969 You're not kidding there. She is still fit!!!

  • She's still gorgeous, baby!!!

  • HOW MANY YEARS OLD SONJA? 60 ?

  • Yes it's true-Sonja was 60 in April this year.

  • Thanks for this great video

  • that is a mint venue i saw live wire there

  • Does anyone know why the band have recorded the dreadful dance version of this great song, which they also played at Holmfirth.

  • Saw them in Newcastle on tyne, while they were filling in for the Who - who never arrived. Did a very long but great set. Never heard this for years. Thanks heaps!

  • Brilliant, thanks for posting. Takes me bacjk years and years......oooh I am so old But young in the head!

  • For those of you that want to see Curved Air in London (especially gfrkiss), here's a date for you:

Jazz Cafe, 5 Parkway, Camden; 28th April 2009. But hurry, tickets may have all gone by now!!

  • fantastic music, wish sound quality was better. Wow is Sonja more sexy than before!

  • Yep, she sure is.....!

  • I'm stunned - I loved sonja when I bought the album with the color imprint on it - still have it somewhere - just stumbled across this - when I was looking for something on Man (welsh band). Wouldn't have thought they were still around. Glad they are - she still has it! - band is tight too. Great stuff

  • This is nice. I had a Curved Air live album from the 70's where Sonja Kristina's voice was shot, but she sounds just as seductive as the records here.

  • This song always gives me goosebumps... what a great version..but i don't think they have played London yet? Someone put me right!

  • The band played Union Chapel London 11/10/2008, sorry you missed it. The band have 2 dates in Japan for January 2009.

  • you have not made my day! Maybe next time...(Reminder to self ,keep checking the specialist music mags!)

  • Comment removed

  • gordon sumner was in the band .

  • Stewart Copeland was in the band-he was married to Sonja Kristina.

  • wonderful one of my favs

  • I was at this gig too ! Just off camera I guess ! Grat gig. First time i'd seen them , but I used to see Sonja annually at the Glastonbury Festival in the 90s. She played every year in a solar powered tent ! Great stuff ! There is plenty of good stuff around today though it aint all corporate musak, and if u look at single and Lp charts of the 60/70s youll see it was pretty dire. Tom Jones , Val Doonican, Peters and Lee the list of old rubbish is endless!Try Jeffrey Lewis or Deadstring Brothers.

  • i think you were not looking hard enough if you think tom jones etc were the most popular bands ,acts or whatever. and if you checkyour records you will see that the glam rockers and the heavy metal bands far outsold your named acts.if you think zepp floyd purple and slade sweet etc were dire then i would love to know what you listened to in those days.

  • I loved slade in the 70s and sweet ! I was a big floyd fan and love deep purple and still go and see them ! Dont want to get a stream of abuse though, but i never really got into led Zep ! I know im a heretic, but i did see robert and alison kraus and that was ace ! even so i think since the year 2001, things have definately improved music, the 80s being a desert ( with a few honourable exceptions) and the 90s having some great festival bands ( back to the planet) . Its better now. Fleet Foxes?

  • Gr8 thx.Agree with all the other comments.Sometimes it's sad trying to recreate the past but this is pretty cool. Also the venue looks groovy.Holmfirth??hmm Isn't that L OF TSW country. Can't see any flat caps.Although CA wore some pretty funky caps in the 70's i seem to remember.

  • Hi impbr. Holmfirth IS the place where "Last of the summer wine" is filmed. And just before "It happened today" Darryl Way played part of the theme tune on his violin!!Sadly I couldn't get the camera rolling quick enough to capture this. Barbara

  • Hi I was at this gig. I loved Curved Air in the early 70s and went to see them around 10 times. It was great to see them again; they played great and the Picturedrome is a lovely venue

  • Fucking brilliant, love u Sonja! Better than today's corporate manufactured muzak!

  • So Curved Air have got back together - great news ! This was a ground-breaking song by the band back in 1972, which I remember clearly when I was about 15.
