"A little west of south;" I wonder what the bearing would be if a GPS was used. Anyone familiar with calculating the difference between true south and magnetic?
Why did you set the date at 1000AD for the date of viewing? Since everything seems to do with 2012 lately why not see if it matches a star pattern on Dec. 21, 2012AD at 11:11pm with your astronomy program?
I don't think it is astrological it points down and too low in the sky.... that isn't logical anything... perhaps it is related to the moon? Or a fire lit on the other side of the bay?
There is no other side of the bay. Tulum's main building faces out into the sea and the other side faces into the city. It is situated high on a cliffs edge on one side (the eastern side).
I'd like to point out, through my research that Tula, often confused as an Aztec or Maya city was actually a city built centuries by the ancient and partially controversial Toltec society, the forerunners of much of mesoamerican civilization alongside the Olmec.
I believe the Olmecs were much earlier than the Toltecs. When I was there it was stated by the resident archeologist(s) that Tula was founded around 700AD at Tula Chico, about one mile north of the current city center . About 900AD Tula Grande was built on the hill called EL Tesoro the current site. It reached it's peak around 1000-1050AD and was finally abandoned about 1200AD. Those dates would make this a 'epi-classic' site. Where as the Olmec sites are ofcourse 'pre-classic"
@sdmagn...One test of the antiquity of the "pre-Maya" of Mesoamerica is a human settlement in the hacienda la seiba, in San Luis Potosi, mexico, dating from 32,000 years ago, a fact corroborated by the INAH. The other test is corn, a product created by man, by ancient Mayan scholars began to manipulate plants to achieve by crospolinación between herbs do not mate naturally. The Maya began in agriculture is about 15 to 18,000 years.
mayans were hundreds of years before the aztec, and they passed their knowledge on which they(mayans) recieved from the olmec and the olmec recieved it from aliens.
yeah they did ... mostly because what we know as mayans its actually a huge range of "different" cilizations with stuff in common ... but even today between mayan cultures theres like 6 major different lenguages ...
so every different city-estate could have like some gods and other cities other gods ...
so its always a hazzard to find about some god in specific ...
this is a magical symbol I think, similar to the hexagram of Earth or Saturn known to magic. I think it has to do with showing the precise time for doing magic rituals that have to do with correspondences of the planets and tides.
I'm not sure you are seeing the whole symbol. I see two triangles, one in the back ground pointing down with the tip barely visible, and one in the foreground pointing up with the tip only slightly more visible. Like a star of david, but not a star of david if that makes any sense. Plus I thing the markings on the inside of the triangle have significance. Understanding the symbol might help narrow down the time of year to look for a constellation.
I agree. It is a symbol of the hexagram which is the symbol of Earth or saturn known in modern day magic. It is, the star of David, in it's function and appearence. It might have a use for when the right time is to do a magical operation according to the correspondences of the planets and thus the tides.
You know what this symbol reminds me of, it reminds the pyramid on the one dollar bill, you know the Ilumminati's symbol. If you look closer we can see an eye inside the triangle exactly like the illuminati one on the pyramid, scarry but fascinating.
Sagittarius is due south pointing toward the galactic center. It is similar in pattern to what you are looking for. AKA the teacup. It would be pointing toward the center, although over this amount of time it could be off due to the wobble of the Earth.
The box was possibly a way of viewing certain star clusters. Like projecting the image on the back wall from the hole. Similar to viewing a solar eclipse using a box with a hole in it. Then the star pattern would be opposite on the wall and upside down.
do you know what was the biggest discovery of mayans? 0!!!its sunny but everyone starded with one so there was no 10 or 20 there were other numbers ...when i was there told me so!
9:02, right smack in the middle of the screen. It quite possibly could have signified a time to plant crops, or to harvest. It could have also been used as a lighthouse. Most ancient structures have more than 1 use, including the pyramids.
Or it could be the other way around and project an image on fog or sea mist, bright light in side the temple shadow puppet first tv projector, it an idear
what you are seeing is a Camera obscura. they tend to be built on hilltops. In the temple by the sign is a reses, which could of held a roll of thin paper over the door everybody facing south before mid day it would look dark. when the sun in line with the sign(try a bit of wood in the hole as a indicator) and when the shadow line up some guy blow a horn for dinner, or some thing. yet if he was in side it could make a shadow puppet like Punch and Judy at the sea side.
Very interesting! I've always had an interest in ancient civilizations.

Mayans were advanced for the time, they had observatories.
They were more advanced then the Aztecs.
Shocked0 2 years ago 3
Aztecs were conquerors, warriors. Mayas were observers, cientists, etc.

read fingerprints of the gods. Its very likely that they both got their knowledge from an ancient civilization
