Balletpixi Yeah I agree. Always should have the hair neatly and pretty but small earrings.Gotta look the part when a dancer.I find it important and diciplined when I follow the rules.
Actually, the earring statement is not completely accurate.The strictness concerning attire is going away in some places. When I was studying dance in college a professor asked us to wear long earrings so as to loosen up our tight necks in ballet class. Also, performers have to wear what the choreographer asks for. If the dance calls for dangley earrings, so it shall be. Besides, this is not a vid of traditional ballet, but of contact improv and her earrings are not so big as to get in the way.
@Balletpixi not even posts? I haven't danced in a very long time, but when I did we were allowed post earrings during practice. But not during a performance.

I do and have seen them perform many times and they are awesome! i love their new works did you attend the 2007 new works by any chance. the last dance where they were wearing all white was awesome. i danced at the academy and the choreographer actually let me come in to watch some rehearsal. are you going to they 45th anniversary show. sry for the long comment b/c i guess i don't even know if you've seen them b/4 or not or if u live in cincy
even if it does say from the "ballet graz" it doesn't necessarily mean they have to be dancing ballet, almost all ballet companies are versatile, meaning they don't dance just ballet. I am pretty sure that this is contemporary/modern but they didn't really show much dancing they only showed faces
yea, i know. i've been to many of cincinnati ballet's shows with modern dancing and watched youtube vids of ballet companies doing modern dancing and i've taken classes other than ballet at their academy and teachers have constantly told my class about how one has to be able to to more than just ballet to be in a ballet company. i was just showing ritafofa1 that it actually does say ballet in the little description. but yeam the vid really doesn't show much dancing.

Also, ballet really just means dance, seeing as ballet is derived from the Italian word "ballo", which mean dance, so a ballet company is never strictly classical, they do other types of ballo too: jazz, modern, contemporary, sometimes even hiphop. Ballet is the basics of all of those anyway. I sound like such a nerd...
Yes They Dance At "Ballet" Graz But That Doesnt Necisairilly ( err cant spell) Mean They Are dacing Ballet. Many Dancers Spend Years Training In Ballet To Improve Flexibility or balance Or Well it Can Be Anything. ANd That Doesnt Mean They Are Going To Carry On With Ballet For Later Life.

i think that dancing is awesome and i my self dance i think all this people that want to be a dancer shoulod keep trying and all the dancers that are already dancers then great job and keep up the good work

So did I once, and my teacher kicked me out and told me not to come back until I was ready to practice ballet. haha.
that's why it surprised me.
Maybe not all instructors are like that. :p
