@usainlightning Good question. I've just checked, and if you search the web for "Tony Blair talks to Newsnight", you'll find BBC web pages that suggest it was broadcast on 16 May 2002. The BBC has also published transcripts; hurrah for accessibility!
my god was Tony that bad always? I did a jokey youtube video of him back in2008 and I think I got him spot on....have a look at "sodoffpinches-tony's journey" hehe
To think I voted for that prick Blair fills me with shame.
It is unacceptable to teach creationist nonsense to children as fact, and he is flat out lying to say it doesn't go on,it does, and Muslim schools are the biggest offenders.
Tony Blair was an excellent leader, statesman, and orator and one of the best Prime Ministers to have done the job. Look at what preceded and followed him - Major and Brown! Blair was so much better than those two.
@romahome297 and look at the state of the nation he left behind him. He was and is a hypocritical liar and opportunist who used and continues to use his position to benefit himself to the tune of millions. He will forever be remembered as the man who lied to parliament and the people to invade Iraq. He is a criminal who has evaded justice.
@toomuchrose You're right, he will forever be remembered for the Iraq War, but my comment wasn't about his legacy, it was a comparison with him and the leaders that have come and gone since his time. The Iraq question will never be left unanswered, and he will probably have to go the Hague and defend himself, but the reason he hasn't been charged with anything is because the AG of this country declared that the war had legal authority; Resolution 1441 was clearly in breach etc.
what? Blair was an asshole who seeked nothing but power, if he had his way he would of had a dictatorship, him and his little gremlin of a wife would love it.
Personally, I was quite impressed by Tony blair in this. It is very rare that a politician will stand up to this kind of grilling to the same level that Tony blair did.
he has returned to old fashioned left wing ideas? he states that a consensus amongst the political parties is required for reform and that democracy needs political parties ("all power to the workers' councils, not the parties"?) and implies political expression should derive from capital.
these (new) labour aristocrats certainly have "nothing else to say"; the neo-liberal corporations have said everything for them
@lo1lawl Paxman's one of the UK's most respected news anchors. He's respected because - as in this interview with Blair - he avoids sycophancy. Also, unlike, say, Bill O'Reilly, Paxman generally doesn't attempt to measure his interviewees against arbitrary views of his own: he measures them against their own stated standards, which is much fairer.
@SamPabloKuper I'll agree with you 90% the other 10% is because of the welsh dude gettin jeremy worked up and rather than respond as he would anyone else, revelling in the fact he's got them by the balls, he wouldn't read out a statistic he had infront of him as he knew it would prove him wrong and the welsh guy to be right. Other than that I love watching him , if he would be more willing to accept defeat when it comes and grow from it he'd be my main role model in life.
I dont know that he is preaching to enforce homelessness. I do think he is addressing that without consequences whats to stop anyone from doing anything.
anyways the deal with the porno? really? who is this interviewer? hes bringing on bogus bait and looking like infotainment.
@lo1lawl Had you not just deleted your comment I'd have laughed and felt a little embarrassed, but because you have just deleted it I'm going to assume that you are the one who is feeling embarrassed!
