80 Gigs is all you need if you're just storing documents and pictures... that's a hell of a lot of documents. I don't even remember what the heck he had in his head... haven't seen this movie in forever. Think about how some cars even today come with an "amazing" 20 or 40 Gig hard drive for entertainment... oh well.
I really loved this film. The storyline and visual effects were great. Keanu Reeves & Dina Meyer made a very hot screen couple. Johnny Mnemonic is one of most underrated Sci-Fi films of the 90's - along with FutureSport, The Time Shifters, Virtuosity, Tha Lawnmower Man, Alien 3, Space Truckers, Strange Days, The Arrival, Mimic, The Apocalypse (1997), Virus, RoboCop 2, Them, Body Snatchers, eXistenZ, Sphere, Judge Dredd, Anaconda, The Relic, The Shadow Men, The 13th Floor, Dark City etc
Oh and even the top comments..... Dudes. Theyre talking about the brain. Not a computer....... If they said terabyte you would all be laughing when computers start storing petabytes okay? Well...enough of this.....Im gonna have a hamburger.........^^
@funnystarchild Well all major internet services are already working in petatabyte - like facebook move 300 petabyte of its data to a new server recntly - youtube itself must have a mil or so petabyte of vids.
@xfilesmanson And again to you. We're not talking about computers. We're talking about the human brain and its storage capacity does NOT improve along with human technology.
@aigon666 This song is verry rare and first time i heard it was in the movie Mortal Kombat. It was played as Liu Kang walked up to the Shaolin Temple in the first part of the movie. Truly and epic sound.
@ctchreport Yeah Ive been thinking about that part. But I dont agree with you. 80gig is good. Fact is that storage will always increase with time in computers. What is big today will be small tomorrow and so forth. But fact is that what the brain is able to store in memory WONT increase with time. It will remain the same. Maybe 80gig is enough to store the information in the human memory? I mean. Most of our memory is text and pictures. The brain doesnt store ALL information like a computer.
"It is no longer safe to transmit information. Phones, computers, satellites are all vulnerable." This plot point was implied, but it wasn't flat out told to the audience. Roger Ebert, among other critics, pointed out a plot hole-that such vital information is easier to squirt through miles of fiber optics than it is to bury it in the skull of a Mnemonic courier. If this idea were spoon-fed to the critics, this movie wouldn't have gotten such a bad rap.
best part is the Dolph Lundgren psycho Jesus
