It's the Kerry King 81/85 combo with external boost switch. I'm endorsed by EMG and those guys just rule. I really think they make the best pickups on earth. The rest of the tone is a Digitech GNX3. The amp I use in these vids is just an old crate combo bass amp so it's not the amp.

i love your vids, very helpful thanks. 1 question

i can pick very fast (cant sync left hand yet but working on it) when i rest my picking hand on the strings themselfs, but this sometimes kills the string as i'm resting on it (especially bottom one), alternatively i rest my pinky on the guitar below the pickup, but this feels uncomfortable and i find it hard to change strings. only other option is to let my hand float with no rest, but that means i keep missing with my pick as it bobs a bit

My advice would be to just keep at it. Everything you mention used to happen to me as well. As you practice more and more, these problems will seem to fade. Just keep at it.
