that's a flat out lie. what study did you read? or are you just quoting your friends?
it's been proven by several independent agencies that the 'lifetime' co2 given off is less for a hybrid vehicle (including manufacturing). even the UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT has ran independent studies and offers both tax rebates and HOV lane privileges.
i'd love to know where you get your information, otherwise you're a liar...
Increases fuel efficency by 15% for a $1800 option that qualifies you for a $1300 tax rebare. So no its not a Prius but it does give you a 15% increase in economy for a net cost of $500 which you will actually recouperate at the pump unlike some other much more expensive hybrids.
So the fuel saving is minimum: 24/32 against 22/30 for the normal version.
Basically, GM is giving you the "hybrid" badge, so you feel you're doing something for the environment, but in fact you're doing close to nothing. They did it again!
Actually, Motor Trend proved that it gets 34 MPG, and that's great since it's getting MPG's like a Corolla. I mean a 3500 pound sedan getting 34 MPG is unheard of except with this malibu.
This comment has received too many negative votes show
more co2 is given off producing hybrid cars so you are not buying less co2
