"valve is just another EA?" thats very harsh since EA single handedly killed the command and conquer red alert franchise in one game i doubt valve could manage that.
I know this was made a year ago, but VALVe is nothing short of phenomenal. It's not about replacing fans, it's about giving the fans more. If they never bought Left 4 Dead 2, they're probably not dedicated fans. Either that, or they don't have the money. But if that was true then you couldn't get the Dlc anyway. VALVe is still one of the greatest, and will always be honest.
@Imp0s5ible I understand where you're coming from. And I'm not saying that true fans are the ones that blindly buy everything, I just mean that people need to trust that Valve. I see people getting upset because something isn't exclusive. This subject is arguable, but is pointless.
We know that Valve makes games that are fantastic. Whether it's exclusive or not shouldn't be a factor. Why not? Because that's like saying that only PC gamers can get and Xbox can't.
@Imp0s5ible I don't know when you heard it was exclusive. I heard it would be for both games, and I heard that when it was first announced. You must be mistaken.Or maybe it's me. But I'm 90% sure that it was announced to be for both games. Maybe people thought otherwise because it followed the original survivors.
@AccursedSniper It's true, it was never really said that "The Sacrifice", by that name, will be L4D-exclusive.
Valve originally claimed to be working on L4D DLC, but they didn't give it a name, or much info on it.
After they announced that the name of this DLC will be "The Sacrifice", they also announced that it would be for both L4Ds.
Since YouTube doesn't let me post links in the comments, I'll send you a link to the original article via PM, and I will also put it in the description.
@GrimmjowMaX Yes there is, actually. If you own L4D, you can't play L4D2, that's illegal. On the other hand if you own L4D2, you can't play L4D because that is against the law as well.
However, if you own both games you can play either of them wherever and whenever you like.
Though to some extent I agree with Hitler and his chums, you have to look at it from a marketers point of view. If valve designed an exclusive game for l4d, then its audience for l4d2 would drop because they felt like they were excluded from the "first time around gang" from a marketing strategy his proposal isnt viable, Please vote up not if you agree with the message, but if you think that its a great and funny vid.
@samwula However, you should remember that's exactly what they did to the L4D players in the first place. When they announced L4D2, the players of the first game were excluded, they didn't matter to Valve any more.
I appreciate that they are at least trying to keep to their agenda by supporting the L4D2 players, but to throw a campaign at the L4D players like a piece of skin at a mutt while claiming it to be support instead of admitting we don't matter to them is just insulting.
I don't see the big deal. If they both pretty much contain the same thing, other than L4D2's No Mercy "remake", and have the same achievements, it doesn't matter which one you buy. I will get both versions though. BTW, funny video.
@1Morey Though you're more or less right, L4D2 does have more content. Although wether this makes L4D2 better or not is debatable, Valve certainly insists on the former in their agressive PR. The sacrifice was announced as L4D DLC, so the L4D playerbase got their hopes up that Valve might add something unique to the game and grow the playerbase. The big deal is the huge disappointment Valve caused by releasing it for L4D2, and by porting No Mercy, which now risks L4D not gain, but lose players.
@Imp0s5ible See the Other side please, L4D2 is more or less the more "advanced" Version of L4D, why would they produce something for an older game, that probably won't be sold anyway. If you just give the l4D gamers something you can be sure that the L4D2 players shout around that Valve is an evil money empire who wants people to buy the original game.
No matter how they did it, they do something wrong...like pumping out a sequel far too early.
@Nikagor Have you seen TF2? Do you know how "old" it is? Valve's plan with L4D was the exact same with TF2. Keep the game fresh and new with DLC, and therefore the game won't become outdated.
Also, Valve are (claiming to be) an honest company who care about their customers. All you see is Valve's interests but you never mention the interests of their customers, something Valve claims to be caring about very much and therefore should be considered, even from their point of view, the "other side".
@1Morey Im alitle disapointed about the No mercy Remake for l4d2 because i thought if there was no mercy there would be no mercy and some l4d1 achievements.Still its pretty good.
Why should it be exclusive. People should put nostalgia away and admit that LFD1 was a mess; the levels were the same, the ai was retarded, the load times were terrible, and it wasn't that challenging. LFD2 was an actual improvement because it had melee weapons, variety in levels, better finales, a great atmosphere and more interesting characters.
@Wyvernknight93 That is your opinion. You assume your opinion is the one and only truth and you command everyone to "realize" it. This is no way to go. The load times are pretty quick for me, and it's challenging enough on expert. In L4D2 horror movie atmosphere was thrown out the window and the entire game took on a cartoonish style, and the new survivors have no novelty value. That is my opinion. I have mine, you have yours, but we shouldn't try to argue with them like if they were facts.
See this is the problem, Left 4 Dead had this awesome zombie movie atmosphere like from Night of the Living Dead with fast zombies, but when Left 4 Dead 2 came out it seems that everything had went down a notch, graphics, atmosphere, and everything else except the variety.
they should combine the 2 fucking games like all achievements into 1 game, use weapons from both l4d1 and l4d2 etc. then the quarreling shit will stop.....
In my opion the l4d pc community is better of then the xbox community due to all the fan made maps that still tend to be better then the l4d2 fan made campaigns. Also, I still like the l4d survivors better then the l4d2 survivors as a whole(no one really likes rochelle.) And it feels like the team will fall apart at any second since they dont act like a team when compared to the l4d survivors.( i like both games b4 anyone trolls me, I just like l4d better for it's charecters and story.
The L4D 1 and L4D 2 are excellent games both. I have both games and I am satisfied by two games; The L4D1 has something that the L4D 2 does not have and the L4D 2 has something that l4D1 it does not have either, basically the experiences of game are very different between both.
For example. Hunter in the L4D 2 is slow and easier to strike with the butt that in the L4D 1 where it is more rapid and agile, another example is the IA of the Tank that is very different from a game from another, another example is the most awful ambientación of the L4D 2, which neither scares nor generates any fear and is centred more on the action of the game. This is the only possible reality-> both are an excellent games, end of the discussion.
@KirbyOnCronic Yeah, real fans mindlessly throw money at Valve! Sorry, but that just doesn't have any substance at all. The price is not the problem. The problem is that if you buy it, to Valve that means that you apporve of their game farting scheme(?).
I don't want Valve to pull another move like L4D2, and i show my disapproval by refusing to buy it. Although for so cheap i doubt it means anything to them, but it goes to show how L4D2 wasn't able to hold the $50 price tag for long.
@KirbyOnCronic I don't have a problem with the price. I just mentioned it on a side note that L4D2 wasn't able to live up to its price tag and had to slash the price to make people buy the game, since most people didn't want to pay that much just for a better version.
L4D2 being free is the only way it could possibly be more unfair. That would have left me paying $50 for a shitty version of a better game that is available for free.
BTW there was a time L4D2 was actually cheaper than L4D.
@Imp0s5ible Hate to tell you this buddy, but that's what sequels are suppose to be: a "better version" of the original...making the first title look like a "shitty version"
don't all sequels of all games strive to do the same?
If you haven't gotten your money's worth by now, then you're really not a L4D fan...
BTW L4D2 sold twice as many copies in it's first 2 weeks than L4D...The game's been out for almost a year now, so of course sales are going to slow down...
@KirbyOnCronic No, they don't. Maybe with greedy companies like EA or Activision. But not Valve. Sequels are meant to continue the game's story. They aren't supposed to make owners of the original game feel like they wasted their money.
Does HL2 feel like a better version of HL? I doubt it.
Here, this should clarify it watch?v=A6aA2svGfvc
I'd also like to ask you why you think there wasn't a multiplayer for HL2EP1/EP2.
@KirbyOnCronic You're saying that Valve was always like any other company and never released any games like HL and HL2, never treated their community well and they always pulled moves like L4D2, and i was only dreaming? Seriously? Did you even watch that video i sent you?
L4D2 doesn't continue the first game's story. L4D's story started and ended in L4D.
There are some childish comments whining that i should stop being childish and stop whining, which i do not wish to litter the comments with.
@Imp0s5ible Please learn how to read. I never said Valve was "Always" does anything.
and the fact that you're worried about people leaving too many negative comments shows you know your opinion is bogus.
Grow up and realize that Valve doesn't owe you a thing. I hope they release a new L4D game every year from now on, just to piss off people like you...
@KirbyOnCronic Yes, yes you did. When you said Valve is like any other company. "Is" is implying that they didn't recently start doing things like L4D2. Which is not true.
My opinion is not bogus, and i am not worried about people leaving too many negative comments. I am merely rejecting idiotic fanboy rage comments that don't present any arguments.
You are turning into one too, as I see you once again resorted to petty insults and you keep exaggerating my statements into things I never said.
@KirbyOnCronic dont bother with these people man. they understand no logic, are hipocriticlal and say one thing only to change their minds to take a virtual upperhand in an argument.
@Imp0s5ible certainly, you did not actualy did this in comments but your argument follows this princeable. i may have stated this before but if not i'll say it now. you argue and critisize valve for making the impoved sequele to l4d, l4d2, yet you and your side of the arguments followers demand more inovation from what is already and unusaly generous developer (releasing major updates for free on a regular basis (6month intervals)). the argument is highly contridictory.
@Stranger01751 I think you're stereotyping me. I have an individual opinion on the matter, and i'm not part of any sheep mindset and there is no cult that worships an exact opinion or whatever you think my "side" is. I'm not demanding any innovation, and i don't think anybody else is. All i'm demanding is the DLC i was promised. Even that, i am barely. Apart from joining the boycott group and making this video i haven't really done anything else.
@Imp0s5ible yes you may have your own opinions and veiws but you must remember that you are part of people who wna he same goal on ths matter. Also in demanding DLC u ARE demanding inovation as it would be disopointing if they released identical campains with only a different shroud to change them. sadly this argument becomes inert without proper understanding of the industry and the demands that you aswell as L4D2 players are issuing. you should leave this argument as a bad job and go play KF.
@Stranger01751 I still don't see where i demanded innovation. Crash Course E.g. did have some innovation(the finale) however, which proves that the so called innovation doesn't require a seperate game.
If the industry worked that way(requiring devs to fart out better versions of previous games yearly), Valve would've gone bankrupt for releasing HL2 and TF2, sequels which were both original games and not just a better version of the first title.
@Imp0s5ible Are you an idiot? There hasn't been another sequel in a couple years! Get over it; by the way, Left 4 Dead 2 is about ten times better quality than Left 4 Dead 1 with more dialogue, melee weapons, a wider variety of guns, and hell, even a chainsaw!
@TehLeek Let's see, you insult me, you tell me "to get over it", you don't read what you wrote(L4D2 was released in 2009, it hasn't been a year yet you say a couple years), and then you continue to babble on how much better L4D2 is than L4D, with Valve's marketing points, none the less(it's irrelevant anyway because i never said anything about L4D being better than L4D2).
Come back when you've calmed down and have a proper argument to present.
@Imp0s5ible I'm more of a time-forward person, sorry. At this point I'm already preparing myself to call it the year 2011. Anyways, they're not going to shoot out another game like they did with L4D2. They learned their lesson from the boycott, and they're probably going to wait for a new one to come out. And I do agree that the crap L4D2 got should be given to L4D, however, that's no reason to hate on Valve because they've slightly screwed up on one game. You should try out L4D2. Borrow it. =\
@TehLeek I really don't hate Valve. I'm just mad what became of this DLC. Although L4D also got a gun and a lot of entities ported from L4D2 which opens up a lot of opportunities for mappers, for which i am really grateful.
They ported a lot of content to L4D but none of the big news sources said anything about it, only the L4D2 version, weird.
My best hope is in Portal 2 and i really hope Valve won't pull a L4D2-like move again.
@Imp0s5ible Dude, Steam has been having special deals with almost any game available on it, Valve's being the most beneficial. You could get Free versions of Alien Swarm (Non-Valve I think) and Portal at one point. Valve discounts their games because they want people to buy it through Steam, not because L4D2 sold worse (In fact I think that's quite the contrary). Get over yourself.
@deathwing107 L4D2 is almost half the price compared to the pre-order price. Not a discount, that's how much it costs. They even managed to make it cheaper than L4D at one point because they don't care about L4D so much they forgot about it. If L4D2 sold that well they wouldn't have lowered the price. By the way, just because i mention the price doesn't mean i have a problem with it.
I just mentioned it on a side note and you managed to turn the entire argument to it.
@Imp0s5ible Yea, they forgot about Left 4 Dead, even though The Sacrifice was released for the original, as well. I guess that explains why you can buy the first bundled with the 2nd for dirt cheap, too. Enjoy the games for what they are, and they are quality compared to what's out there now, both L4D1 and L4D2. Not gonna tell you to get off your high horse and buy the 2nd one, though. Looks like that horse is pretty damn high as it is.
Wow, it looks like some people really got pissed over this, but I can't really say I blame them. Fact is, valve said they would continue to support the first game after the release of the 2nd, and that just hasn't happened. The players of the first game have got nothing since Crash Course, this finally comes out, and then it turns out L4D2 gets a remake of a whole other campaign. I can't really say they are completely abandoning the first game, but that is a pretty big slap to the face.
Meh, I think l4d2 deserves more. Afterall you can't expect valve to work with an old game that is no longer making them profit. Valve gives free stuff away, but there is a limit to what they can do.
@GillTime What about Team Fortress 2? The idea there is that making free DLC actually makes them profit because it gets more people buy the game. I'm sure the same would've worked with Left 4 Dead.
Lol how can you not expect a company to back its newer product? Your lucky they're even doing that much for l4d 1. Most companies just let their old games float (c.o.d.) Btw, I loved l4d1 & I love l4d 2.
No matter what happens as far as DLC for the games, when choosing between either game, it really all comes down to this: do you want better characters or more weapons? Not to say the L4D2 characters are bad (well...Rochelle is a little flat, but not bad, I guess), but they simply are not as good and likable as L4D1's characters...but Ellis is great, I admit. Anyways...I chose characters. Hence, I got L4D1. I don't have L4D2 yet. I MIGHT get it...maybe...but for now, I'll work with this.
@antpat12 Because L4D2 is (supposedly, i haven't played it apart from the demo) the better version of L4D, so why would anyone play a shitty abandoned version when they've got the new and supported version?
I love left 4 dead, mainly the survivors, and the campaigns more than I do in the second, I just like more weapons, gun wise not melee wise. It sucks cus I constantly feel I'm torn between both games, I wanna play L4D1 again but with No mercy and sacrifice coming its just a better deal for the same price to get it for L4D2 (I have both PC and XBOX versions of both games though I sold my 360 L4D1)To be honest Valve should just turn around and port the old campaigns over there's no fixing the fans
Honestly I am a inclined to agree with this sentiment. I have both games and I prefer L4D over the 2nd one. It just not as fun as the first one despite having much more. I'm sorry but when one freaking campaign takes over an hour on NORMAL, imo there's a problem. I don't mind it taking longer than a run from the first one (which was <30mins) but when I'm with a team that is actually good and we are wiping 10+ times, says something no? I'm just glad they are releasing it for the first one as well
Well as much as I loved l4d (i was also part of a competitive l4d clan) the only thing that disappointed me with l4d2 was its scoring system. I dont understand why there is so much anger towards L4D2.
having my games for pc arepaying for themselves now. faggy xbox fanboys have to pay for the new DLC. i just have to click once and wait 5mins for it to download.
If I want to have real fun, I play L4D because the witches are all located in buildings most of the time. I piss 'em off and run away like hell and I shut every door I pass. But l4d2has more players etc. so I dont care.
Wow, really? You know something, Valve doesn't owe you JACK.
We got Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 at about $30.00 each when they came out, then the prices went down later. The DLCs they are releasing are probably worth $10 each, provided Valve CHARGED for them. Valve has been releasing these DLCs for FREE, has upheld its promise to create a DLC for Left 4 Dead, and is providing this DLC to both communities. That is mighty generous.
@lordofhunger731 Nobody said anything about Valve owing anyone anything. Perhaps you should drop this ridiculous boycotter stereotype and stop assuming what i say before you try arguing.
Now if you wish to argue with me then you'll have to take this statement, and dispute it:
Valve should've released The Sacrifice for L4D only. It would've helped the game regain some of its playerbase. Instead, they even tried to decrease it further by making 2 things no longer unique to Left 4 Dead.
@Imp0s5ible Where did I make any stereotype? I assumed NOTHING. You are claiming Valve should do XYZ, but Valve is under no such obligation. That's exactly what I said. You made the assumptions, not me.
Furthermore, to address your new statement, again Valve is under no obligation to support Left 4 Dead beyond the promised DLC. Also, Valve cannot control the playerbase, because only the playerbase can control the playerbase. Valve does not control you or me or anyone, okay?
@lordofhunger731 Should is the keyword. You're making up excuses for Valve, namely that they are not obliged to do anything. If they WERE obliged to do anything they would be taken to court. I never said they must. I only said they should.
But that doesn't change the fact that they lied to everyone who bought L4D and are making the situation even worse for L4D players, just because it's legal doesn't make it OK.
@Imp0s5ible They did not lie. They delivered the DLC eventually, and as FREE content.
Not only are they not obliged to do anything, they give you FREE content. Left 4 Dead (either game) has more functional content than Modern Warfare 2. Which company charged you $60 for the base game and $20 for each DLC that were required for any decent multiplayer?
This is about perspective. You got a great deal and you're complaining about something that has nothing to do with Valve, but with the PLAYERS.
@lordofhunger731 The DLC delivered were lacklusters. You should do research about what they promised before you say they didn't lie. What they delivered was a new mode and the other two campaigns in versus which should've been in the game out of the box, a poorly rushed 2-map campaign, and
a decent 3-map campaign ported from L4D2.
The problem is Valve promised to do one thing(support L4D) and did the exact opposite(kill it w/ L4D2), not only despite their promises but also despite their agenda.
The sacrifice is a prequel just to tell of of you who think it is a sequel, they did it to just so you could find out what actually happened to bill, or any other survivor that can go in there (Multiple choice)
They should reward people who bought both games with something...
Now, the reason L4D2 version will be "better" is cause of the extra infected and weapons as well as melee, you can't complain if you havnt bought L4D2, it's your fault.
Personally, i perfer the cast of the first game, but i like the gameplay of the 2nd, so this is a real treat for me.
@PoisonWar Of course it's my fault that i thought they would really keep supporting Left 4 Dead since they plastered it all over their PR and they were a pretty honest company to begin with. I mean it was like, so obvious they were just lying.
Also, The Sacrifice not being exclusive to L4D is my smallest problem with this.
It's better to have everything available to both games so it'll keep fans of both games happy. Have one thing exclusive to one, fans of the other will complain and vice versa.
@OnTheToiletBeyotch If you say everthing, then perhaps all of the L4D2 campaigns should be in L4D and vice versa. Of course that would make it so the two games aren't so different after all, which would call the justification for L4D2 to be a sequel in question.
The fact that No Mercy is in L4D2 already does too.
@WoWjunkie1301 Which is exactly the problmem. Generousity is what made Valve stand out from the rest of the company. This is why people loved them. Then they go ahead and do the exact opposite and kill off the playerbase of one of their games less than a year after it's released. While promising to support and improve the first game even! This was the absolute 180 of Valve's generous behavior.
Wether Valve really turned "evil", or if it was just a 1 time slipup, we shall learn in the future.
@Imp0s5ible Considering L4D 2 has the exclusive content, the better games, and melee weapons I don't think it's a waste of money if you enjoyed playing the first game. And it makes perfect sense to me that Left 4 Dead 2 gets the better content because it's the sequel. This "game farting" scheme you talk about I think is bull, Valve isn't gonna release a game each year just because they released L4D2 early
@Dawgman96 Did you even read what i said there? Where did i imply buying L4D2 is a waste of money? Where did i say Valve is going to release a game each year just because they released L4D2 early?
What i said was some people refuse to buy L4D2 because for Valve that would mean they approve of what they did to L4D. If Valve thinks nobody has anything wrong with that, they will keep killing their games with "sequels".
Finally, how does L4D2 being the sequel entitle it to any special treatment?
@Imp0s5ible The sequel is suppose to offer more because It's the SEQUEL. There should be no arguing with that. Valve has broken no promises that I know about. They said that they would continually support the first game and they did.
"Where did i say Valve is going to release a game each year just because they released L4D2 early"
\/
" If Valve thinks nobody has anything wrong with that, they will keep killing their games with "sequels". lolwut?
That's circular reasoning. I might as well say Left 4 Dead should get more content because it's the first game. I think you might wanna do some research on the word "sequel".
They didn't support the game. If you want to see the real quality support that they promised to be doing for L4D then look at all the content L4D2 is getting.
I said Valve will keep releasing a game each year if they think people have nothing wrong with it. Not because they released L4D2 early. Pay attention pls
@Imp0s5ible You are very correct about your statement my friend, L4D2 doesnt really feel like L4D in any way. I used to love the effort put in L4D, for example, you had body awereness, if you looked down you could see the body of the character playing. And you didnt have those guns pressed up your face, also there is no fucking walk animation with pistols/desert eagle in L4D2. It feels so rushed, couldve used better polishing and more use of the original characters.
Left 4 Dead 1 is not getting the campaign only. They are going to update some of Left 4 Dead to become more like Left 4 Dead 2. Because they are going to update the bugs in Left 4 Dead to be fixed as the ones in Left 4 Dead 2. Besides, sequel says it's a continuation. But we all know and can clearly see it sequels are better than the original... THERE YOU GO WELL EXPLAINED!
The problem with VALVe is that they can't count to three.

AccursedSniper 8 months ago
@AccursedSniper Really? I've never seen people demanding Team Fortress 3 so damn much before L4D2. I don't know what you call that if not replacing.
You say they're giving fans more, but they are actually *selling* the fans more of the *same*.
I'm saddened that your idea of a loyal fan is one who blindly buys everything the devs spit out.
No-one can say if Valve will be honest but I can say that promising to support a game and then neglecting it is by no definition "honest".
Imp0s5ible 8 months ago
@Imp0s5ible I understand where you're coming from. And I'm not saying that true fans are the ones that blindly buy everything, I just mean that people need to trust that Valve. I see people getting upset because something isn't exclusive. This subject is arguable, but is pointless.
We know that Valve makes games that are fantastic. Whether it's exclusive or not shouldn't be a factor. Why not? Because that's like saying that only PC gamers can get and Xbox can't.
This should not be an issue.
AccursedSniper 8 months ago
@AccursedSniper I trusted Valve enough to buy Portal 2, and I wasn't disappointed.
However, I'll think twice about believing Valve when they make promises again.
The issue over exclusivity isn't due to jealousy, or any reason like that.
It was because Valve initially promised the Sacrifice to be L4D-exclusive, and that gave hope to L4D players that it might regain some ground.
Then Valve shattered these hopes by making it non-exclusive, amongst other things.
Imp0s5ible 8 months ago
@Imp0s5ible I don't know when you heard it was exclusive. I heard it would be for both games, and I heard that when it was first announced. You must be mistaken.Or maybe it's me.

I'm not understanding.... is there some law that states if you own/play l4D, or l4D 2... You can't play the other? If so.... I may be in trouble
GrimmjowMaX 11 months ago
@GrimmjowMaX Yes there is, actually. If you own L4D, you can't play L4D2, that's illegal. On the other hand if you own L4D2, you can't play L4D because that is against the law as well.
However, if you own both games you can play either of them wherever and whenever you like.

Though to some extent I agree with Hitler and his chums, you have to look at it from a marketers point of view. samwula 1 year ago

1Morey 1 year ago
@1Morey Though you're more or less right, L4D2 does have more content. Although wether this makes L4D2 better or not is debatable, Valve certainly insists on the former in their agressive PR. The sacrifice was announced as L4D DLC, so the L4D playerbase got their hopes up that Valve might add something unique to the game and grow the playerbase. The big deal is the huge disappointment Valve caused by releasing it for L4D2, and by porting No Mercy, which now risks L4D not gain, but lose players.
Imp0s5ible 1 year ago
@Imp0s5ible See the Other side please, L4D2 is more or less the more "advanced" Version of L4D, why would they produce something for an older game, that probably won't be sold anyway. If you just give the l4D gamers something you can be sure that the L4D2 players shout around that Valve is an evil money empire who wants people to buy the original game.
No matter how they did it, they do something wrong...like pumping out a sequel far too early.
Nikagor 1 year ago
@Nikagor Have you seen TF2? Do you know how "old" it is? Valve's plan with L4D was the exact same with TF2. Keep the game fresh and new with DLC, and therefore the game won't become outdated.
Also, Valve are (claiming to be) an honest company who care about their customers. All you see is Valve's interests but you never mention the interests of their customers, something Valve claims to be caring about very much and therefore should be considered, even from their point of view, the "other side".

Wyvernknight93 1 year ago
@Wyvernknight93 That is your opinion. You assume your opinion is the one and only truth and you command everyone to "realize" it. This is no way to go. The load times are pretty quick for me, and it's challenging enough on expert. In L4D2 horror movie atmosphere was thrown out the window and the entire game took on a cartoonish style, and the new survivors have no novelty value. That is my opinion. I have mine, you have yours, but we shouldn't try to argue with them like if they were facts.

The L4D 1 and L4D 2 are excellent games both. I have both games and I am satisfied by two games; The L4D1 has something that the L4D 2 does not have and the L4D 2 has something that l4D1 it does not have either, basically the experiences of game are very different between both.
SuperSonicJam 1 year ago
For example. Hunter in the L4D 2 is slow and easier to strike with the butt that in the L4D 1 where it is more rapid and agile, another example is the IA of the Tank that is very different from a game from another, another example is the most awful ambientación of the L4D 2, which neither scares nor generates any fear and is centred more on the action of the game. This is the only possible reality-> both are an excellent games, end of the discussion.

KirbyOnCronic 1 year ago
@KirbyOnCronic Yeah, real fans mindlessly throw money at Valve! Sorry, but that just doesn't have any substance at all. The price is not the problem. The problem is that if you buy it, to Valve that means that you apporve of their game farting scheme(?).
I don't want Valve to pull another move like L4D2, and i show my disapproval by refusing to buy it. Although for so cheap i doubt it means anything to them, but it goes to show how L4D2 wasn't able to hold the $50 price tag for long.
Imp0s5ible 1 year ago
@Imp0s5ible What Scheme? You say price isn't the problem, but end your post bringing up....the price tag?
Are you saying if L4D2 was free from the very start, you'd still have a problem?
KirbyOnCronic 1 year ago
@KirbyOnCronic I don't have a problem with the price. I just mentioned it on a side note that L4D2 wasn't able to live up to its price tag and had to slash the price to make people buy the game, since most people didn't want to pay that much just for a better version.
L4D2 being free is the only way it could possibly be more unfair. That would have left me paying $50 for a shitty version of a better game that is available for free.
BTW there was a time L4D2 was actually cheaper than L4D.
Imp0s5ible 1 year ago
@Imp0s5ible Hate to tell you this buddy, but that's what sequels are suppose to be: a "better version" of the original...making the first title look like a "shitty version"
don't all sequels of all games strive to do the same?
If you haven't gotten your money's worth by now, then you're really not a L4D fan...
BTW L4D2 sold twice as many copies in it's first 2 weeks than L4D...The game's been out for almost a year now, so of course sales are going to slow down...
L4D sales went down too.
KirbyOnCronic 1 year ago
@KirbyOnCronic No, they don't. Maybe with greedy companies like EA or Activision. But not Valve. Sequels are meant to continue the game's story. They aren't supposed to make owners of the original game feel like they wasted their money.
Does HL2 feel like a better version of HL? I doubt it.
Here, this should clarify it watch?v=A6aA2svGfvc
I'd also like to ask you why you think there wasn't a multiplayer for HL2EP1/EP2.
Imp0s5ible 1 year ago
@Imp0s5ible So basically your problem is you're just now realizing that Valve is like every other game company. Welcome to reality, my friend.
And how can you say L4D2 didn't continue what little story the franchise holds? That's clearly not the case.
And is there a reason you filter your comments?
KirbyOnCronic 1 year ago
@KirbyOnCronic You're saying that Valve was always like any other company and never released any games like HL and HL2, never treated their community well and they always pulled moves like L4D2, and i was only dreaming? Seriously? Did you even watch that video i sent you?
L4D2 doesn't continue the first game's story. L4D's story started and ended in L4D.
There are some childish comments whining that i should stop being childish and stop whining, which i do not wish to litter the comments with.
Imp0s5ible 1 year ago
@Imp0s5ible Please learn how to read. I never said Valve was "Always" does anything.
and the fact that you're worried about people leaving too many negative comments shows you know your opinion is bogus.
Grow up and realize that Valve doesn't owe you a thing. I hope they release a new L4D game every year from now on, just to piss off people like you...
KirbyOnCronic 1 year ago
@KirbyOnCronic Yes, yes you did. When you said Valve is like any other company. "Is" is implying that they didn't recently start doing things like L4D2. Which is not true.
My opinion is not bogus, and i am not worried about people leaving too many negative comments. I am merely rejecting idiotic fanboy rage comments that don't present any arguments.

Imp0s5ible 1 year ago
@Imp0s5ible certainly, you did not actualy did this in comments but your argument follows this princeable. i may have stated this before but if not i'll say it now. you argue and critisize valve for making the impoved sequele to l4d, l4d2, yet you and your side of the arguments followers demand more inovation from what is already and unusaly generous developer (releasing major updates for free on a regular basis (6month intervals)). the argument is highly contridictory.
Stranger01751 1 year ago
@Stranger01751 I think you're stereotyping me. I have an individual opinion on the matter, and i'm not part of any sheep mindset and there is no cult that worships an exact opinion or whatever you think my "side" is. I'm not demanding any innovation, and i don't think anybody else is. All i'm demanding is the DLC i was promised. Even that, i am barely. Apart from joining the boycott group and making this video i haven't really done anything else.
Imp0s5ible 1 year ago
@Imp0s5ible yes you may have your own opinions and veiws but you must remember that you are part of people who wna he same goal on ths matter. Also in demanding DLC u ARE demanding inovation as it would be disopointing if they released identical campains with only a different shroud to change them. sadly this argument becomes inert without proper understanding of the industry and the demands that you aswell as L4D2 players are issuing. you should leave this argument as a bad job and go play KF.
Stranger01751 1 year ago
@Stranger01751 I still don't see where i demanded innovation. Crash Course E.g. did have some innovation(the finale) however, which proves that the so called innovation doesn't require a seperate game.
If the industry worked that way(requiring devs to fart out better versions of previous games yearly), Valve would've gone bankrupt for releasing HL2 and TF2, sequels which were both original games and not just a better version of the first title.
Imp0s5ible 1 year ago
@Imp0s5ible Are you an idiot? There hasn't been another sequel in a couple years! Get over it; by the way, Left 4 Dead 2 is about ten times better quality than Left 4 Dead 1 with more dialogue, melee weapons, a wider variety of guns, and hell, even a chainsaw!
TehLeek 1 year ago
@TehLeek Let's see, you insult me, you tell me "to get over it", you don't read what you wrote(L4D2 was released in 2009, it hasn't been a year yet you say a couple years), and then you continue to babble on how much better L4D2 is than L4D, with Valve's marketing points, none the less(it's irrelevant anyway because i never said anything about L4D being better than L4D2).
Come back when you've calmed down and have a proper argument to present.
Imp0s5ible 1 year ago
@Imp0s5ible I'm more of a time-forward person, sorry. At this point I'm already preparing myself to call it the year 2011. Anyways, they're not going to shoot out another game like they did with L4D2. They learned their lesson from the boycott, and they're probably going to wait for a new one to come out. And I do agree that the crap L4D2 got should be given to L4D, however, that's no reason to hate on Valve because they've slightly screwed up on one game. You should try out L4D2. Borrow it. =\
TehLeek 1 year ago
@TehLeek I really don't hate Valve. I'm just mad what became of this DLC. Although L4D also got a gun and a lot of entities ported from L4D2 which opens up a lot of opportunities for mappers, for which i am really grateful.
They ported a lot of content to L4D but none of the big news sources said anything about it, only the L4D2 version, weird.
My best hope is in Portal 2 and i really hope Valve won't pull a L4D2-like move again.
Imp0s5ible 1 year ago

falloutman1125 1 year ago
@Imp0s5ible Dude, Steam has been having special deals with almost any game available on it, Valve's being the most beneficial. You could get Free versions of Alien Swarm (Non-Valve I think) and Portal at one point. Valve discounts their games because they want people to buy it through Steam, not because L4D2 sold worse (In fact I think that's quite the contrary). Get over yourself.
deathwing107 1 year ago
@deathwing107 L4D2 is almost half the price compared to the pre-order price. Not a discount, that's how much it costs. They even managed to make it cheaper than L4D at one point because they don't care about L4D so much they forgot about it. If L4D2 sold that well they wouldn't have lowered the price. By the way, just because i mention the price doesn't mean i have a problem with it.
I just mentioned it on a side note and you managed to turn the entire argument to it.
Imp0s5ible 1 year ago
@Imp0s5ible Yea, they forgot about Left 4 Dead, even though The Sacrifice was released for the original, as well. I guess that explains why you can buy the first bundled with the 2nd for dirt cheap, too. Enjoy the games for what they are, and they are quality compared to what's out there now, both L4D1 and L4D2. Not gonna tell you to get off your high horse and buy the 2nd one, though. Looks like that horse is pretty damn high as it is.

I MIGHT get it...maybe...but for now, I'll work with this.

jaycarmine 1 year ago
Wow, really? You know something, Valve doesn't owe you JACK.
We got Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 at about $30.00 each when they came out, then the prices went down later. The DLCs they are releasing are probably worth $10 each, provided Valve CHARGED for them. Valve has been releasing these DLCs for FREE, has upheld its promise to create a DLC for Left 4 Dead, and is providing this DLC to both communities. That is mighty generous.
lordofhunger731 1 year ago
@lordofhunger731 Nobody said anything about Valve owing anyone anything. Perhaps you should drop this ridiculous boycotter stereotype and stop assuming what i say before you try arguing.
Now if you wish to argue with me then you'll have to take this statement, and dispute it:
Valve should've released The Sacrifice for L4D only. It would've helped the game regain some of its playerbase. Instead, they even tried to decrease it further by making 2 things no longer unique to Left 4 Dead.
Imp0s5ible 1 year ago
@Imp0s5ible Where did I make any stereotype? I assumed NOTHING. You are claiming Valve should do XYZ, but Valve is under no such obligation. That's exactly what I said. You made the assumptions, not me.
Furthermore, to address your new statement, again Valve is under no obligation to support Left 4 Dead beyond the promised DLC. Also, Valve cannot control the playerbase, because only the playerbase can control the playerbase. Valve does not control you or me or anyone, okay?
lordofhunger731 1 year ago
@lordofhunger731 Should is the keyword. You're making up excuses for Valve, namely that they are not obliged to do anything. If they WERE obliged to do anything they would be taken to court. I never said they must. I only said they should.
But that doesn't change the fact that they lied to everyone who bought L4D and are making the situation even worse for L4D players, just because it's legal doesn't make it OK.
Imp0s5ible 1 year ago
@Imp0s5ible They did not lie. They delivered the DLC eventually, and as FREE content.
Not only are they not obliged to do anything, they give you FREE content. Left 4 Dead (either game) has more functional content than Modern Warfare 2. Which company charged you $60 for the base game and $20 for each DLC that were required for any decent multiplayer?
This is about perspective. You got a great deal and you're complaining about something that has nothing to do with Valve, but with the PLAYERS.
lordofhunger731 1 year ago
@lordofhunger731 The DLC delivered were lacklusters. You should do research about what they promised before you say they didn't lie. What they delivered was a new mode and the other two campaigns in versus which should've been in the game out of the box, a poorly rushed 2-map campaign, and
a decent 3-map campaign ported from L4D2.
The problem is Valve promised to do one thing(support L4D) and did the exact opposite(kill it w/ L4D2), not only despite their promises but also despite their agenda.

It's better to have everything available to both games so it'll keep fans of both games happy. Have one thing exclusive to one, fans of the other will complain and vice versa.
OnTheToiletBeyotch 1 year ago
@OnTheToiletBeyotch If you say everthing, then perhaps all of the L4D2 campaigns should be in L4D and vice versa. Of course that would make it so the two games aren't so different after all, which would call the justification for L4D2 to be a sequel in question.
The fact that No Mercy is in L4D2 already does too.

@Dawgman96 People gotta have something to bitch about on the internet, and caring about world hunger and war are sooooo yesterday...
phrexus 1 year ago
@phrexus You're right, we should just stop caring about all our problems because there's world hunger and war that is so much more important.
I mean seriously, do you really think everyone just moans at Valve for this?
Those who do are obviously idiots. But then there are people who are just voicing their opinions and they have every right to do so.
If you're implying that i'm "bitching" about anything though, i suggest you read the description.

Dawgman96 1 year ago
@Dawgman96 Did you even read what i said there? Where did i imply buying L4D2 is a waste of money? Where did i say Valve is going to release a game each year just because they released L4D2 early?
What i said was some people refuse to buy L4D2 because for Valve that would mean they approve of what they did to L4D. If Valve thinks nobody has anything wrong with that, they will keep killing their games with "sequels".
Finally, how does L4D2 being the sequel entitle it to any special treatment?
Imp0s5ible 1 year ago
@Imp0s5ible The sequel is suppose to offer more because It's the SEQUEL. There should be no arguing with that. Valve has broken no promises that I know about. They said that they would continually support the first game and they did.
"Where did i say Valve is going to release a game each year just because they released L4D2 early"

" If Valve thinks nobody has anything wrong with that, they will keep killing their games with "sequels". lolwut?
Dawgman96 1 year ago
@Dawgman96

@Imp0s5ible Say is the left 4 dead 1 is going to weapon from l4d2? or no?
Hperman09 1 year ago
@Hperman09 I don't think the L4D version has anything but the bare minimum.
Also i could barely the meaning of your comment.
Imp0s5ible 1 year ago
@Imp0s5ible You are very correct about your statement my friend, L4D2 doesnt really feel like L4D in any way. I used to love the effort put in L4D, for example, you had body awereness, if you looked down you could see the body of the character playing. And you didnt have those guns pressed up your face, also there is no fucking walk animation with pistols/desert eagle in L4D2. It feels so rushed, couldve used better polishing and more use of the original characters.

@Imp0s5ible
