  • Brava!

  • Marguerite happens to be my cousin, and she has more class in what she flushes than those that post such insults. Evidently, some don't know talent when they see it. Only a fool insults a person without knowing them.

  • I recently perused a copy of Life Mag from 12/4/1950. She was hawking Camels because they were (miraculously) easier on her throat! But almost every star was plugging cigs. Darn good money they paid.

Stan Freberg did not, and would not, sell his name to be used for either alcohol or tobacco. (I must say, I love pipes and cigars!)

  • How sad, in a way, to again be reminded of how American tastes have shifted from the sublime towards the ridiculous-and fetid.

  • NBC's comedy variety program "Your Show of Shows" inspired the format of Saturday Night Live." Over the years SNL had guest hosts with the same show biz stature as Melvyn Douglas, but I can't quite remember SNL doing opera, especially opera this good. And on live network TV yet. In Puncini's La Boheme, Musetta sings her waltz on Christmas Eve. Let's see someone top this at our Christmas Eve parties.

  • I love the simplicity of this, not to mention her charm. Oh, and what a voice!

  • What is she singing about?

  • @AventuraLuver How hot she it.

    Seriously.

  • @AventuraLuver Here is a general translation of the lyrics When I walk alone in the street People stop and stare at me And everyone looks at my beauty, Looks at me, From head to foot... And then I relish the sly yearning which escapes from their eyes and which is able to perceive my most hidden beauties. Thus the scent of desire is all around me, and it makes me happy, makes me happy! And you who know, who remember and yearn you shrink from me? I know it very well (continued)
  • @AventuraLuver you do not want to express your anguish,

I know so well that you do not want to express it

but you feel as if you are dying!

  • its sounds cool, wish i could understand a single word

  • *******WONDERFUL***********

  • Just looking at the title of her book, this woman seems lively!

  • Well done. Voice and character a perfect fit. And the best legs I've seen on a soprano.

  • How wonderful; I remember her so well and was always waiting for her on that show. Thank you!

  • This is a marvelous version of Musetta's Waltz, exactly as it should be: seductive, coquettish, humorous and airy. I've seen too many sopranos do this as if it's a funeral march, par ticularly in recital. This was actually an American television performance in the 1950's: from Musetta to the Infantile Housewives of Suburbia, we've come a long way. Wonderful, captivating version of Cuando me 'n'vo..

  • Margarite Daughter is on Antique Road Show just now having a table from the mid 1900 century appraised. Very theatrical and dramatic. It's worth about 14.000 dollars. margarite's still alive apparently. Maybe she needs money.

  • I saw that tooi, and it sent me straight to You Tube. I remeber it so well - how wonderful!

  • Délicieuse Musetta, aguichante mais sans aucune trace de vulgarité , Bravo !

  • This performance is from the Heaven!

  • i love la Boheme, i work in the children's chorus at the metropolitan opera house, it is awesome there, i was in la Boheme this season

  • Perfection.

  • Thank you so much for posting this.

  • This performance is so charming, simple, and captivating. If only opera directors could return to this style. It lets the music and drama speak for itself, which is always a GOOD THING! Ms. Piazza is completely charming and sings beautifully. Thanks for posting this.

  • amkil's an ass. This was a lovely performance, i don't know why we have to listen to you two fools argue about something irrelevant.

  • Sianna53---I am in total agreement with you. The majority of these comments are tasteless, irrelevant and inappropriate. We should all enjoy this wonderful woman's talent.

  • Is there some way these comments, that have absolutely nothing to do with the video selection, be removed?

I enjoyed Mdme Piazza's performance, by the way, thanks for posting!

  • I will NEVER change my mind. I know what it sounds like...

  • I had the honor of meeting Ms.Piazza recently, and her voice is no less impressive now as it was back then. To answer your question she does not and did not smoke, yet ironically was a advertisement model for Camel Tobacco. (Back when smoking was considered a good choice, mind you)

  • Did she really smoke?

  • Awesome, I've always wanted to see footage of "Your Show of Shows", Considered by many to be one of the best TV shows ever made.

  • Wow! What a beautiful and talented woman! Please upload everything you've got on Ms. Piazza!

  • Fabulous!!! What a STAR! Gives me chills and tears all at once.
