what is the highest tune u should go with for this truck without studding it. I am getting one soon and dont know what would be a safe tune for it. I want it as fast as i can get it but i dont want to have to do head studs and head gaskets. I will block the egr, get an exhaust, and CAI. But thats it.

@BigRogers7870 EGR delete and exhaust is very good to do. But if you are going to tune I would say you need the head studs done. The 6.0 will blow head gaskets even when stock, at the price the studs cost or to replace the engine, its cheap protection. But if you are going to tune without studding I wouldn't go over 70 to 90 Hp over stock. And if you did go over, baby your truck without racing because it will blow....Trust me ...I know.

@chevytruck123 I'm not sure what is the highest tune. You can probably get insane tunes over 200 but the engine will self destruct without the proper mods. The video here was with an old race file which I have a better one now and faster. But I haven't run that tune in over a year. My daily driving tune is a street tune which is about 120 which is fine by me and the truck.

@danster26 the HEUI injection system in the older powerstrokes are a HUGE set back, although you can get some awesome power out of tunes, the injection system is very limiting, you can get pretty much 400hp/700tq at the rear wheels with 60s but you wont get much more with out adding more fuel and a bigger turbo, but we all know it gets expensive after tuners! Im not positive if they offer such a thing much over a 150 tune for these trucks, if they do its potential with suporting mods.

@rideracelivemx7 I believe the highest tune is 175 HP. And a stock engine with air box, tuner and exhaust will get you at highest between 400 and 450 HP to the rear wheels depending on the truck (varies one truck to another). But I wouldn't go higher than that if you intend on keeping your truck for a while. These engines weren't made for it, no pickup engine is really made for it come to think of it. But it is just our nature to try to get more and more out of it.

@danster26 After a point you have to sit back and ask yourself how much does it take to say that's enough. I know I could probably get 50 - 100 maybe 150 more HP, but my truck will have a shorter life plus what more will it give me. I already smoke pretty much everybody I want around my town. Sure there are a couple of faster trucks but they pumped in way more $. For me I just said " I'm happy with what I have"

nice truck, except im just not a big fan of the sound of WOT of the powerstrokes..nice stroke but it just sounds like they are going to break..compared to the cummins it sounds more popping then anything else...but thats IMO

No, no....that's Kilometers per hour. 160Kph is 100 Miles per hour. On this vid, I let off at 110 Miles per hour according to GPS. Fastest the truck ever went was 136 Miles per hour then let off ( I shit myself..lol). Its way to fast for a truck that's as aerodynamic as a brick on 4 wheels.

This was one of my first race tunes and would shift at 4k. I have had it tuned to shift at 3800 and it actually runs faster. So my new tune runs faster than the one in this video.

This is the SCT tuner with custom tunes by DJ's Diesel Performance shop. If you do get an SCT, get custom tunes for it, not the tunes that come with it.

No, stock tranny. SCT is very good in managing the tranny shifting. Last tranny oil change I did with 30000 miles on it was almost clear. So you know then its only normal wear and tear.

Yes, its straight piped, tell your uncle not to waste money on a Superchip, get a SCT with custom tunes. It will outperform any other chip or programmer. Plus you get 2 to 5 mpg more.
