If the people were really apprehensive like he says, the witnesses would have quickly perceived the sighting as some mammal, with glowing eyes. @madmanis12345 The point is that panic clouds perception it doesn't enhance it. Your body is put into a fight or flight reflex. If something comes at you when you're scared and its dark the brain doesn't care about properly analyzing what it could be it is simply a threat. As for the specifics of this case it seems more likely that it was a known animal because we have no evidence of what they described existing.
@Andjealous I understand that but that's not my point. My point is that the group of people were most likely not in a fight or flight response until the moment they saw the monster. Why would the group be in a state of panic before they saw the monster? Because they saw a little fog? If it was one person that would make sense, but the whole group would have to be bipolar to panic at night because they saw a little fog.
There's little chance they saw the monster in any altered mental state.

The fog certainly would have helped set a tone though. As a skeptic we try to look for explanations that conform as much to reality as we know it currently. So, disregarding a hoax of any kind the affects of fear and panic in response to an animal on a group in a dark fog filled area seems more likely than monster.

@madmanis12345 You are 100% correct. If you wish to use the scientific method to prove that this animal exists you cannot use eye witness accounts as evidence. After looking into this further it seems the people saw an object go over the horizon. They believed this object to be an alien space craft and so were prepared to see an alien. If they had suspected a leprechaun they probably would have seen one instead.

Is it because they are locked into their atheistic evolutionary mindset which presumes the supernatural realm is fictional, so everything has to have a naturalistic explanation or is called a hoax, explained away, covered-up or simply not revealed by a very compliant secular media! I believe the flatwoods "monster" was a ufo mechanic. Sort of a grease monkey for saucers. I think that ufo crashed and they called their version of AAA. That bucket looking outfit carried all his tools. I believe these otherworldly beings can manipulate the dimensions like stepping over a crack.

All these people can't be lying. I myself have have experienced the paranormal, the "unseen", so I know that these non-human entities exist. My family doesn't believe in anything they can't see with their own eyes. There are other dimensions beyond our own. Who knows, WE may be scary looking to them!

God, I really hate it when people try to explain events like this with basic psychology terms. Why would they be psyched up by some fog at night? If the people were really apprehensive like he says, the witnesses would have quickly perceived the sighting as some mammal, with glowing eyes. No one has a damn mindset to expect a fucking humanoid lizard monster who emits gas. That old man needs to retire.

@madmanis12345 The point is that panic clouds perception it doesn't enhance it. Your body is put into a fight or flight reflex. If something comes at you when you're scared and its dark the brain doesn't care about properly analyzing what it could be it is simply a threat. As for the specifics of this case it seems more likely that it was a known animal because we have no evidence of what they described existing.

@Andjealous I understand that but that's not my point. My point is that the group of people were most likely not in a fight or flight response until the moment they saw the monster. Why would the group be in a state of panic before they saw the monster? Because they saw a little fog? If it was one person that would make sense, but the whole group would have to be bipolar to panic at night because they saw a little fog.
There's little chance they saw the monster in any altered mental state.

@madmanis12345 The fog is almost irrelevant. I'm saying that if they did see something it seems more probable that they saw an animal and reacted. The fog certainly would have helped set a tone though. As a skeptic we try to look for explanations that conform as much to reality as we know it currently. So, disregarding a hoax of any kind the affects of fear and panic in response to an animal on a group in a dark fog filled area seems more likely than monster.

@Andjealous I'm a skeptic too but I think this altered perception due to fear theory is complete bs. If it were true then we might as well disregard all eye witnesses in the world, for who knows how they might have felt during the witness.
If emotions really had altered those people's perception, then is the old man saying all those people just so happened to see a humanoid lizard out of panic? Why hadn't anyone seen a leprechaun? The witnesses saw what they saw, be it a monster or animal.

@madmanis12345 You are 100% correct. If you wish to use the scientific method to prove that this animal exists you cannot use eye witness accounts as evidence. After looking into this further it seems the people saw an object go over the horizon. They believed this object to be an alien space craft and so were prepared to see an alien. If they had suspected a leprechaun they probably would have seen one instead.
