The operator wasn't looking for a cameraman on top of his spoil pile. That's the last place you expect someone, but then again, the cameraman was probably some city slicker who thought that his pushmower was heavy equipment until he got to the site that day. Never get in the swing radius of a hoe, even if the operator sees you, unless you are performing some task for him.
The operator knew where you were standing and he knew where his bucket was going to pass in front of you. The only danger to you would have been yourself. - Glad you're ok.
@specialks1953 The bucket passed too close. Later we asked the operator, he stated he hasn`t seen me. Yes, I am a lucky bastard. I could be dead now, I am sure.
yeah i get sick of people in where i am operating, and then there is the ones u dont realise that are there nearly killed a few people. and no a hardhat ain't gonna do jack shit with a bucket think about it i can break through concrete with a bucket let alone plastic and skull and that is in a 5 ton cat

machine needs greasin by the sounds of it and come on, your telling me you could clearly see the operator but he couldn't see you. if thats the case he needs his eyes tested
@yellowmetalguy Even though the guy in the clip said the operator didnt see a thing? Plus, if your just messing with someone, you dont go swinging past them that fast, that close.
he knew you were there and if he's any kinda of an operator he could push you around with that thing as genytly as shovin' a wee babay around in a crib..he was phukin' with you lol
@emmanuelrod I drive in Finland an Hitachi 75 US and i gotta tell the hitachi windscreen is like watching world with wrong glasses... And last one: You cant see behind the bucket, if u dont have some kinda like reversing camera over there.
you wouldnt die. i took a bucket from a 310 John Deere in the head once no hard hat just hurt a bit. all that would have happened would be you fall in the hole. boo hoo
man i cant see a guy in this vid all i see is dirt bein dug up wheres the guy that almost got hit?

This is a case of unsafe, operator and camera operator.
The operator in most cases is below average, the average ones are driving the trucks.
Trust me, most construction workers are not scientists on vacation!
Yes, most equipment operators are unable to move above this position, otherwise they would be CDL drivers and crane operators.

@MechanicEngineer78 The mine owner didn't tell me anything about safety. I was there to get a few shots in order to make an institutional movie.

@nshar24 . And there was a 6 metre 18ft cliff right behind me where the bucket would have thrown me over.

fuck it. i meant "helmets are mandatory especially for construction workers".
now, neither u r an english teacher nor i was writing an essay :. not having to prove read on youtube is hopefully excusable.
p.s im not a construction worker anyways, so if what u use is "hardhat" for consturction, then that was what i meant.

Lol he didnt get the point. XD Stoopid ass. :D

i run a excavator for a demolition company. a hardhat isnt going to save your life if you get hit by the bucket.

@zackhoe1978 your right a hard hat only stops hammers and sockets,
