Hey, photographer -- show me her hands! The shots of the working wheel may be artistic and all, but worthless to spinners when she's saying, "Now I'm doing such-and-such" and I can't SEE what she's doing, just see the footmen going up and down. She's spinning woolen with a long draw but I can't see her technique.
That's an Ashford Wheel, made in New Zealand. It's a nice wheel, about $400, but there are many other brands in a variety of price ranges.
If you don't have the money for a wheel, you can start handspinning for practically nothing by using a drop spindle. You can buy them for less than $20, or even make one yourself. There are a couple of tutorials on Youtube.
I think video should show less of her face and foot and the wheel going round and round, and more of just showing what her hands are doing, show the drafting, fiber twisting into orifice and the yarn being made.. lots of nice explanation but the video fails to show the actual process itself. sounds like she knows what she is doing, too bad her camera doesnt show us more of what she is doing.
Im an esthetician(skin care/treatment and make-up artist) which couldnt be further away from my other full time love of spinning.i truly agree with you .Spinning is my absolute favorite part of the entire process. Not the dying, not knitting sometimes when i just have to spin i just grab some natural fiber and spin, just to spin even if that particlular yarn isnt going to be use(i usually use it for something).thanks for the angora fiber video.angora can be hard 4 me to spin since its slippery.:)
this woman is absolutely full of energy, and seems to be a stay at home mom... with only one child who seems somewhat helpful. obviously has a supportive husband I can imagine. also maybe it is her job to "sell" some certain things through the videos , mentioning brand names???? so maybe she gets paid.
Less foot and face an more fibre please! Woud have liked to see how you started off attaching the fibres to the lead yarn

yes that is true, because as with any ancient traditional art, it has to be learned mainly by watching very closely for a while.
