When I was real young on the farm in the early Sixties our Boxer, Candy, would fight CopperHead Snakes with the same leaping and pouncing stance. She didn't like them being near where we were playing. She was bitten two different times, once on the top of her head and once on the side of her muzzle. Boxers are just fun dogs to have. Ive never met a mean or real shy boxer. Great for kids, other dog breeds, cats even. My sister has one and hes the biggest animal out of 2 dogs, 2 cats and hes the most scared and reactive to people.

Dogs have to be raised well and balenced just as children.

People have to understand that raising a dog is just like raising a child... it requires patience and time. You can tell this dog is well-trained. Even though he was barking at the snowman, he still didn't try and attack it (damaging things in the house). So, when I see people speak out of ignorance, it's appalling.

Before we had him, he was raised badly, and abused, and so when we got him he was scared and often bit people when he felt cornered or upset. Now that's nearly completely gone, and although many people said to put him down, he was well worth the scars.

I agree. I just got my first boxer after I spent weeks researching the breed and cannot tell you how many people tried to discourage me and tell me how out of control and hard to manage they are.

Our 8 week old puppy is already sitting on command and heeling on a leash. She is so smart and will be wonderful as long as we work with her, train and exercise her.

I can't wait to prove all my nay saying friends and family wrong.

Well to start off with, a dog is an animal with basic instincts. When you decide to own one and to make it a pet, i.e: to make him "civilised" you need to teach him some basic stuff. A dog was never born a guard dog unless you teach him to do so, same goes for all races of dogs. They were not born with the ability to obey to "sit, give me 5, etcc" naturally. So no a boxer dog is not retarded, it is a very intelligent animal who would sacrifice himself for his master! It is also very very funny!

no the reason they "Dock " their tail was becoz they used to be a fighting / hunting dog and same wif the ears if they had floppy ears during a fight they would have had them torn off (cutting their ears in aus is illegal) im not for either cutting their ears or their tails

actually they dock their tails because they have a tendency to break. It's better to dock it to avoid a painful situation for the dog. I agree on not cropping the ears though, they look much better.
