I believe that most use them with discretion and there is always that few who don't which gives them all a bad name.

Situations like this indicate that police should never be in charge of investigating themselves in instances of police misconduct. I am from British Columbia and we just changed the law so that an independent non-police based group does an investigation when charges of police misconduct are death due to police happens. This all is due to to when 4 officers were found to be lying in court over the death of a person the tasered to death at Vancouver airport. They will lie.

@alsdwr i had my doubts about police brutality until a few weeks ago a friend of mine was shot for trying to drive a way from a checkpoint after realizing he had a warrant. he accidentally hit an officer while trying to escape so 4 cops instantly fired his car while he was driving away. they hit the car 74 times but luckily only 3 hit him; 2 in the arm 1 in the back. but still its just crazy how quickly they tried to kill him. now he has 4 attempted murder charges for "trying to run over police"

@rangersct it was unecessary force. the cop only suffered a bruised thigh. i don't agree with what he did but he is just a kid, he was scared and tried to run.he deserves jail but not to be shot from behind. there is procedure for this and cops arent supposed to shoot a fleeing suspect unless he is in the act of assault. they acted out of anger not procedure. they are violent overzealous pigs who want to shoot somebody so they can look like badass heroes on the news. fucking nazis

I had a motorcycle accident eight years ago and ended up at the e.r.. the cop at the scene showed up at the hospital and would not let the doctors work on me until they gave him a blood sample. he was sure that I was shit faced and then arrested me. three weeks later i was in court for a dwi even after it was proven that I was sober.

This is why cops are assholes. The theory that there were a bunch of cops and they all fired at once is out of the question because there's no fuckin way in hell that 19+ cops attended a scene where a guy was under a bridge. The cops were out of line and they need to have a consequence. I broke my leg once and there was no way in hell I coulda gotten up, and it was so painful I could hardly speak let along threaten someone. I think they threw him off and then tased him when he was on the ground.

With them being "police", they will most likely get suspended with pay for a couple weeks at most. So basically they get a paid vacation for doing this stuff. At most, fired. They will never get actual charges. Isn't it funny how the system puts all cops above the law? Also, if we tased them it would be felony, but they can tase anyone.

I really hope the police didn't cause this kid to be paralysed. I've heard of people with broken necks that heal without paralysis, but they were told if they had moved their neck half an inch, they'd have severed the spinal chord. I think it's safe to say being tazed even once is going to jerk your broken bones around.

There are still hundreds of true Law Enforcers out there who are truly living up the ideal image of a police officer and uphold the spirit of justice, not just the uncaring letter. I got arrested for a fight that I wasn't in, and cops accused me for all kinds of stuff and then the courts drove me into the ground when I resisted arrest; they later acknowledged that they arrested the wrong person but the fines mounted. A cop that threatened me before my release, so I call him out side to settle it personally...he declined. I learned my listen. Stay clear from police no matter what the cost. Don't cry rights...just leave when cops show up.

Regardless of who you are, cop or not, your not exempt from one day getting pay back! This is an outrage! Hope the poor kid wins the law suit and awarded a couple hundred thousand (if not more) for his troubles, and that those responsible are permanently FIRED! and then indicted for assault on an innocent victim. They need to be jailed and fined! No man should be exempt from breaking the law, especially when we the tax payers pay for protection against shit like this!

The media magnifies current police brutalities, and people don't see all the good cops, its sad. Remember this, the bad cops make the news, but good ones usually don't (unless they do something way out of the ordinary).

I study criminology and law enforcement tactics, and find that, because of harsher laws on local jurisdictions, its the opposite. because there's a larger media than lets say 50 years ago, it makes the news when it happens so it SEEMS like there are more "bad" cops. Good try though.

my mom sliped on ice leaving her job at the hospital where she is a nurse she laid on the ground for 5 hours in the cold befor some one finally helped her she even said some people just looked at her when she asked for help and kept walking. I know for a fact your back is broken your not getting up. unless your my grandfather who was hunting fell out of a tree and hiked back out of the woods but hes a beast.
