Sounds great until you realize, that many sex offenders have just pissed in public or mooned someone. I remember reading an article about an 11 year old boy who pissed on the playground in California being registered as a sex offender. Everyone who knows anything about GPS monitoring knows it protects NO ONE. The only thing GPS monitoring can do is tell you where a person has been or where they are. It cannot tell you what they have been doing. Many cases where people were on the registry, wearing GPS tracking devices and still raped and murdered people. The registry, residency restrictions and GPS tracking did NOTHING to protect those victims. Nor will they protect YOU. It's nothing more than security theater.

Don't judge unless you know every sex offenders story. I know there are some truly bad people out there but not ALL SO's are bad. People make some stupid mistakes. My fiancee has to pay for some stupid girl's lies with the gps and everything else. I was molested for 14 years and what happened to that man? NOTHING... hes still out there! Screw leg GPS units for sex offenders on parole. Those should be only for the very low risk folks. Since most sex offenders don't reoffend, it seems like a waste of money to follow them around when more money could be used to PREVENT sex crimes. Learning about sex offenders helps us to see the signs in others and help prevent future sexual criminality.

The problem is that the DA's are making people register as 'sex offenders' when the crimes don't warrant it. The law is being used in a way is was not intended, even the person who penned the law is upset how it's being used. A young man who gets charged with 'unlawful sexual intercourse' (consensual sex with a 16 year old) is made to register even thought it's NOT A REGISTERABLE OFFENSE! DA's ruin lives by carelessly slapping a horrible life long label on people who aren't child molesters!

I've done my census homework on this one. I implore you to check out the stats on the Calif Corrections website yourself under 'statistical data'. They barely have any parolees watching these creeps and they are left to continue trolling our streets and neighborhoods. When will it be enough?
