My great grandfather used to do this and then build models out of the flattened pennies. Though of course when he did it pennies were softer, trains were heavier and there wasn't a fence around every section of railway in Britain.

He also made models out of bullet casings he collected in Italy during the second world war.

I did that with quarters. If you ever do this don't stand right next to the train try to stay slightly hidden so they don't see you. Even if the cops do come the one time they came for me they just said GET OFF THE TRACKS from the car. He didn't come after me.

hey i tried that on csx railroad and never did it again because it got stuck to the train wheel and when train passed there were no pennies and i heard a clunking sound right when the csx went over it
