I wish viruses were still colorful and at least made killing your computer a bit more fun, like the playgame virus. Now they kill your computer AND give you a blue screen of death, or a heart attack and a bad shopping experience to "clean your computer".
we call this windows for a reason, windows stands for the boxes that we are able to minimize, restore, and maximize. So you cant call dos windows because... Well, there are no windows.
To those of you arguing, I'm not sure what you're going on about, so I'll clear it up here.
MS-DOS, which stands for Microsoft Disk Operating System, was a standalone operating system released by Microsoft from versions 1.0-6.22 from 1981 to 1993. Windows 95 and 98 ran on top of a new version MS-DOS 7.8. After 98 was ousted, the operating systems moved onto the NT kernel with Windows 2000 and every OS onward.
Command prompt is not MS-DOS, but a DOS shell used to perform command line tasks.
@danooct1 And before it was MS-DOS, it was QDOS (Quick and Dirty Operating System) and CP/M. Then Microsoft bought it, and changed it to MS-DOS. Before QDOS it was Haiku and BeOS :)
@Delocaz The NT Kernel was prototyped in Windows NT for Workgroups 3.1 (The stable version of the DOS based Windows 3.1) then it upgraded to 4 (I think) then to 5 then to 2000 as it says Built of NT Technology then so on and so forth...
It was actually a very critical virus back in the day, because you don't have an "always there" backup resource. If you infect all of your floppy disks, you're screwed, time to get a new OS and some new software.
@Crzynoob Hey, guess what. EVERY WINDOWS HAS DOS. MS-DOS means Microsoft disk opperating system. Windows 3.1 was the first GUI microsoft windows whatever, but it basicaly runs by linking dos. Everytime you click, its running dos in the background. In fact, if your on a computer like vista or xp, go to accsesories, then go to "command promt" and hey, DOS on windows :P
@Cooprocks123e Keep saying what you want, your the only retard here, and proving it everytime. I build computers, and have classes held by microsoft on how to fix and use windows and dos. They say it IS dos. Your the failure, and a horribl troll.
@thecatyoukai I am not trying to troll, and I didn't call you a failure. Also, building computers doesn't have that much to do with the software that runs on them.
@thecatyoukai They are emulators built inside not is.. Everything new runs off NT Technology like Windows 2000, Windows XP (They were just to add), Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8 (Developer Preview at the current state)
@Cooprocks123e Plus Win9x includes Windows Me as that was the home version (DOS Reliant) version of Windows 2000 that is why everyone preferred Windows 2000 to Windows Me...
thats why you dont give marijuana to computers

@thecatyoukai No they don't. Only Win9x and Windows 1 to 3.11 have MS-DOS. The rest have DOS emulators.
