I got this 2 years ago and I find it very shaky cam when go into zoom soo shaky so bad believe me and I find rather blurred no what matter but very reliable. Easy to use but one to my mind it shaky / blurred it make me cringe watch on the TV. Please DON'T BUY this item is very OUTDATED.

In other words, if i have a moving object (varying its distance to and fro from me), will the camera be able to recognise this object/image and be able to keep it in focus?

@marek0086 Infact.... i do! I have recently upgraded from this camera to my current camera, the Canon VIXIA HF R10. It records 1080i video at 60i, 30p or 24p frame rates and it also has fast auto focus. You can check out some of the test footage on my channel! :D

@its0a0me Okay, well, The DCR SX60 records at 720x576 (SD) resolution, whereas the HF R10 Records at 1920x1080 (fullHD) Also, the HF R1O has multiple frame rate (24p,30p and 60i for smooth slow motion) The HF R10 has 8gb internal memory. What does 30p mean... and what does 60i mean??

I just bought a Sony dcr-dvd505 handycam and wondered if you have any video or instructions on how to hook up the wide angle lens or telephoto lens. I also purchased the filters. It doesn't have as much zoom on it as this camera you reviewed, but has night shot and records video to a dvd. While it also has a memory stick slot for still pictures. If you have any information or instructions on how to hook up the wide angle lens I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for your help.

I have Sony DCR-SX30E Handycam (4GB) camera and I love it even if I often film short movies and and similar whit more powerful cameras you can still gett some realy stylish clips whit this one. And much is becouse of the spot-focus on your touch-screen ;). I highly recommend to by this camera!

I use to own this cam, i bought a 30-37mm step up ring off ebay for about $3, then i cut of the 'Male' end of the adapter (the end that screws into your cam) and then i used epoxy to glue it to the front of the cam :) It worked GREAT, it held my wideangle and my lens hood on very well :) But be warnded, as this does void your warranty.

i dont think you can add any kind of lense to this camera.... which is a down side to it. But i think the reason for this is that you already have 60X and a 2000x zoom. All though Sony didnt thank about the famous fish eye. Another thing to add it that the mic. zooms in with the lens and records every thing the lens is zoomed into.

I have the DCR-SX40 and I need to know if this Camera can record direct from the TV. I plugged the AV cables into the output and nothing showed up on the cameras LCD screen. Do i need different cables? Can this camera even record FROM the TV to the Camcorder? And if it can is there a setting i have to change on the camera, because no setting comes comes up saying its plugged into a TV. :(

I am not certain, but if it has manual exposure along with image stabilization, then you should be able to record night shots.

i like what techtalkguy said... in the Sony site it says that the minimum light requirement would be 6 lux in other words put 6 candles together and if you position your self one meter from where the candles are you should be able to have a good shot and see 1 meter of whats away from the candel.

i belief the only diffrence is that the sx30 has NO internal memory and the one shown has 4 Gigs. there is another one; the sx41 and it has 8 gigs. There is the sx60 but that one is a hard drive rather than a flash drive... not sure how many gigs it has (16 gigs or 60 gigs)
