@ProphetTenebrae Well they were on the losing end of the war so that tells me they'll take anyone and tolerate their damage so long as it favors them.
@chrismc410 I suppose as Blair expresses disappointment with his posting to the Victory AND comments on its age and it was really only moved into serious action due to Towlyn's machinations, that might be fair comment but still...
This is 600+ years in the future! Humanity encompasses hundreds of worlds and even with the war going on must have a population running into the hundreds of billions. I'm guessing the limiting factor is fighters and not pilots...
@ProphetTenebrae Another theory, Cobra could have started with the Border Worlds Milita then laterally transferred into Confed. Even during the war, the Border Worlds had a separate military and command structure from Confed's and as a smaller force and lesser resources, that usually means the standards are less stringent, not a slight against the BWM, but thats usually how it goes, even today. She proves herself, then Confed takes her and tolerates her issues.
A few things bug me about this part of the game. Eisen whines to Blair about losing command of the ship temporarily - a guy who was busted down from Colonel to LT on a bogus charge and spent half his career trying to repair his reputation. Eisen knows this and still complains to him like he has more beef with Tolwyn than Blair.
Second is Cobra, in general I've never liked her but this part really shows how someone like her never should've been allowed into the Confed Space Forces.
@chrismc410 I think Blair is a full bird Colonel at the end of WC1 (the promotions always come, as long as you complete missions - to the best of my recollection) and in both Secret Missions expansions. He's a Colonel again by the end of WC2 and for both Special Ops expansions.
It's because she's talking about killing Kilrathi in general and then his friend, Hobbes, who she obviously dislikes. She's sharpening the knife because she probably plans on using it if the time calls for it. The focus was more on the knife than her arm.
Unless there is a HUGE manpower shortage, damaged goods like Cobra shouldn't be anywhere near the war effort.

Ever notice how we almost never see Lt Colonels in Wing Commander? The only one I can even think of is Dekker.

@aavallone Blair himself was a Lt. Col in the first WC Special missions 1 and 2 , if you did well enough.

I knew about the Maniac even before I played this game. In fact that was my first word: "Maniac."

"Keep telling me that Colonel, even if it's not true." I always wondered where I heard this from.

Seems that she sharpens her knife all time of her life until she dies.

Why do they zoom in on Cobra's arm at 1:53?
