SP & Vani R the...the BEST of all.All Actors R too good in Acting.Hats off to Music Director. My request to U all who read this .pl send wording...all songs.

  • @Uday2310 It is extremely difficult to give the wordings in Marathi and Hindi even though I know Marathi and Hindi reasonably well as songs in this movie or for that matter any classical Telugu movie of Director K. Viswanath are highly Sanskritized. 95% of Telugu People themselves do not understand these songs in toto due to the reason mentioned above except those who are scholars in both Telugu and Sanskrit. However I have given the meaning of this song in English else where.

  • Music know no language or countries-singapore

  • fantastic!!!!!!

  • Wwonderful rendition expressing the inner feelings of gratitide of having the opportunity to serve the SUPREME and end his life at the feet of ALMIGHTY GOD

that his heart pouring out by the song

    SR

  • Respectfully I disagree with the lyrics a bit - Hinduism is a Teacher faith - we are students of God on our path to Moksha, with God as our Guru. We should have higher aspirations than to be at his feet like a slave & I don't believe god has any need for servants either. The Terrorist and cult members think they are slaves/servant/soldiers of god, and this kind of thinking leads to tragedy.

  • @ramaraksha01 Great... thats the difference between a religion and spirituality... religion teaches to be slaves to some belief system... where as spirituality is entirely between ME and My maker...

  • @deserthorse007 I wouldn't say religion - i am a Hindu too, but i see my religion a bit differently from others. This is the way the song-writer saw his God, he was a good man but i would love to change some of his views.

  • I agree with knpradeep - the worst is us men, at least the women have kept our traditional attaire alive all these years by wearing the sari, while most men wear the shirt and pant. I usually don't like today's movies but I have to say thanks to them, we wear traditional wear at weddings today. Let's make an effort, ok wear a pant but why not wear a kurta over it? Kurta's are cool!

  • Sri Thyagaraja has himself paid rich tribute to Sri Purandara Dasaru in his "Prahlada bhakti vijayam".

  • Nice video, thanks for uploading....

  • Carnatic music doesn't mean - it is from Karnataka - Its Karnataka sangeetham - meaning - Karna ithi aatakaha - karnaatakaha means, very soothing to ears, that is why it is Karnataka

  • Irrespective if the region or language the music has its own appeal when it is more pure and classical and from the heart .

  • I am a Tamilian, dont understand a word but this song moves my heart.

As a kid, for 7 years, I have sung this and all of the other songs from this movie, not knowing the meaning, just immersed in the song and the lyrics.

Telugu is a beautiful language. Carnatic music owes it to Telugu.

  • Am a kannadiga.. and I cant agree with you more..

    super stuff

  • Carnatic Music originated from Karnataka, and may be well exposed by AP, some how due to uncaring attitude of Kannada people to film and music lately, the film and music industry has taken a back turn.

  • Right.. that has been the bane for a few decades now...

  • Carnatic Music might have been originated in Karnataka through Purandara Dasa . But Prominence is given by Tamilians even though they do not understand Telugu . Most of them Wake up Listening to Carnatic Music and Sleep by Listening to it . HATS OFF TO THEM . Unfortunately MAJORITY OF TELUGU PEOPLE do not care to At least listen to this IMMORTAL MUSIC though not Learn it .

  • i'm a telugu guy frm malaysia..and i totally agree with u... telugu ppl ignored and still ignoring the beautiful music,,,so pathetic....thanx to many tamilians who still keeping the music alive...

  • Idi mana daurbhagya sthithi . Ide kadu . Telugu vadau thanu Telugu Vadani Cheppukovataniki kuda siggu Paduthunnadu . Anduke Mana Desamlo Viswanath , Ghantasala , Bala Murali Krishna , S.P. Bala Subramanyam , P.Suseela mariyu S.Janaki Garlaku ivvavalasina Atyunnathamaina Award INTHAVARAKU KENDRA PRABHTWAMU IVVALEDU .

  • its not only the story of Telugu. It happen all over South India, no all over India. We simply follow western culture. Be it Dressing / Arts/ Literature / Lifestyle.

We are simply aping Westerners. How many indians wear traditional dress? be it north indians or South Indians, how many of them address thier mothers and fathers in their mothertongue rather than Mummy/Papa??

  • You are so right. The basis of culture is language. Then comes the arts and religion. Only then comes clothing, food, etc.

  • Dear all music lovers. I am from AP. But having said that, let us just enjoy carnatic music as music not as a regional property. BTW, "carnatic" means "soothing for ears". Not that it is from Karnataka. Back when carnatic music was born, it was one land, with scholars proficient in all the four languages. It is us who divided ourselves on linguistic basis and continue to fight. Let us all grow beyond that, and music is one of the best ways to do that.

  • It is an undisputed fact that Purandara Dasaru is the "Father of Carnatic Music" having laid down the foundation of Carnatic Music. Equally undisputed is the fact that Purandara Dasaru is from Karnataka. This is not to make a regional issue but just to make the facts clear. Tamil and Telugu languages have done immense to the Carnatic Music is un-disputable too.

    Regards.

  • @Sathishscorpion ..... Ohhh my God, what nonsense are you saying ... Carnatic music does not mean that it is originated in Karnataka. 'Karnataka' here mean art (music) that is pleasing/soothing to ears.

  • I am a Malayali. I too agree with you. Tears come when ever I listen to this song. No need to understand the meaning of the words. The expression of the actors says it all.

    Anil

  • Though Carnatic music has a cultural influence on all of the South Indian states and their respective languages, most of the songs (Keertanas) are in Telugu language, This is bcoz Most of the great composers of Carnatic music belonged to telugu families. The great emperor of Vijayanagara (capital being Hampi, Karnataka) said,"Desa bhashalandu Telugu Lessa" which means "Among the nation's languages, Telugu is the best"

  • Master piece which every one must see and here

  • very good quality DVDs are available in US. I bought one last month from Flushing Temple (NYC) gift shop. They are not cheap (22 bucks) but worth it

  • Thanks for the info. $22/- is not too much for this priceless movie. My problem is, I am not in NYC. I am in another State. Do they have a website or maybe a phone number ...anyway, I will do some research. Thanks for your suggestion :-)

  • Actually they carry those items in the teple canteen that is located in the basement. Sometimes they run out of copies and you have to wait for the next arrival, which is quite regular. I live in NYC and visit the temple once a month or so. If you are not in a hurry, I can buy one for you (if it is in stock) when I visit the temple next time. I know it is a priceless masterpiece creation. I don't understand Telugu (DVD has sub title) and I still watch the whole movie often. Just let me know.

  • I went to the temple last week-they still dont have it-I am dying to see this classic once again

  • master piece.

prathi scene, every actor's every expression is at its best.

  • I agree with you, basically I am a kannadiga...But I was dumb when I first saw this movie and this is around 20 years when I was 14years old...Since then, I have watched this movie atleast 20 times and has still been emotionally effective on me..Hats off to Sri Vishwanath.

  • Correction : relased in 1979, so almost 30 years.

  • Correction : relased in 1979, so almost 30 years.

  • Just one film is more than sufficient to enrich our lives.Unfortunately only a negligible percentage of Indians have viewed this greatest movie of all time as it was made in Telugu. Viswanath Garu remade this film in Hindi as Sursangam with Sri Girish Karnad as hero. But no version can beat the original. All efforts should be made so that all Indians can see this movie wherever they are settled all over the world including India.

  • simply divine!k vishwanath is a genius director.

  • Beautiful, excellent and touching

  • Whenever I see this song, I cry when the little boy starts to sing. What a great movie.

  • Great classic,no doubt one of its kind. Its a message of love and devotion to the ALMIGHTY.POWER AND GLORY TO HIS NAME.There is no greater tribute to the Devine, than man's submission in humility.

  • from where did you get this info buddy

  • OMG for real? I agree with you 100%. Will do whatever I can....but where did you get this info ?

  • classic

  • I am Speechless

  • Particularly the scene where Somayajulu and Manju Bhargavi dies one after the other immediately, is inspired by Jayadeva's (great poet of 13th century from Orissa) life story.

  • This is the best movie produced by Tollywood ever. One can write volumes on each and every scene in the film, such was the care taken by Director Kala Tapasvi Sri K. Viswanath. When Telugu films were branded as a mere commercial entertainers, he proved that they can be artistic entertainers and set a new standards to Indian cinema.

  • sigh. this movie and particularly this scene never fails to move me... thank u for posting.

  • This must the most emotional scene in Telugu cinema. Really excellent acting by all. Thanks for posting it. Could you please post the remaining songs of the movie as well, and movie also, if that doesn't sound too greedy.

  • such a beautiful presentation of emotions and values.

    endaro mahanubavulu,andulo veeru kondaru

  • Could you please post the remaining songs of this film?

    Thanks

  • Beautiful movie.
