When I'm listening to the radio and hear the opening bars of that godawful 'Walking on Sunshine' by Katrina and the Waves, I invariably think it's this song for one moment. Imagine my disappointment when I realise it's not. It never is.
@crashcarstar A) I think i'm sufficiently grown but thank you, and B) I was simply saying that I miss the style that made them who they are. They basically sound like they're trying to conform to what's "in" now.. and well, frankly.. today's music is SH*T.
@mgzegz1 They sound like Smoking Popes pushing 40. I don't know what you are hearing. I don't think being a pop-punk band led by a devout Christian is conforming to anything rock cliches or fashionable at all.
@immieii It was originally on their album Born To Quit which was released on Johanns Face Records, than sold and re-released on Capital... who released the Clueless ST

I have seen this awesome band sooo many times and they have never been anything short of genius on stage! A great bunch of guys off stage! Hit the Double Door Show if you are able..... they do not disappoint on any level!
@ThePubeylewis All the chicago punk bands are intertwined. Neal Hennesy is the drummer for these guys, the larry arms, and the falcon (which has Dan from Alk trio in it)
A perfect blend of 60's style lounge singing paired with guitar riffs and drum beats faster than a cheetah on crack-cocaine. It's flawless. This is indeed a classic for the times. Thanks for posting. By the way it appears that 16 people have man-crushes on Justin Beiber and are incapable of appreciating good music when they hear it.
Smoking Popes "Born To Quit" is my number five out of ten in my DID {Desert Island Disc} picks. That album has more to it than The Beatles" White Album", The Clash's "London Calling" or the Rolling Stones "Sticky Fingers. Its brilliant from start to finish.
My only beef is that it was never 'to my knowledge' been released on vinyl. Total shame. Get it on CD because you will love it!
This guy's either the greatest singer in the known universe or the deafest--it takes some serious talent to be able to sing like Sinatra while your band is playing like Blink-182.
@jmowreader I thought he sounded like Morissey when I first heard the song... I can hear this guy singing "panic in the streets of London", just the same
I used to work with Josh at the Jewel. I was a checker, he was a bagger. I distinctly recall laughing my a** off whenever Josh was my bagger. Great deadpan humor. That's what I remember. Nice guys.
The quality of his voice juxtaposed against the punk sound reminds me a bit of The Damned. I'm not saying they sound like The Damned, just a certain commonality between the two bands.
