Love the vid. How are you playing the G chord in Drop D? I've been fretting the 6th string at the 5th fret and fretting the 1st string at the 3rd fret. Also I think playing the C without fretting the 4th string at the second fret sounds right.

Also the album version is definitely in D, but when Steve plays it solo he appears to take a Keyser capo and put it on strings 1-5 only at the 2nd fret. This way you can use a standard shape G (A) chord but you still have that open sixth string droning.

hi , kinda hard to see what your doing , have you tabbed this? the second part of the intro rif is throwing me a bit. this is probably the best cover of this on u tube , certainly the most accurate sounding version and it does sound like it would be a blast at partys. any chance of a better vid perhaps? pleeeeease? :0)

I pretty much play it the same way with standard tuning, with a regular G, but everyone else seems to use drop D. I shove a C chord in there too, especially in the last verse, to change it around a bit... but you play it a lot better than I do. Nice video.

@Adnamira - Glad you liked it. For me the drop D makes the the tune. It can ring while the intro notes are played and sort of mimics the bagpipes in the original, great when playing solo.

@mosybohica Ah, I tried it, and I think you are right - it does sound better. I still like to whack that C chord in, but I found I can still do it by using an abbreviated bar chord. I think I actually play copperhead road in a whatsimilodian mode of the G scale, but there is no reason drop D shouldn't work for that.
