@gjtrue They somewhat did. Brad Buxer comfirmed that the end credits theme is from him and MJ and also that he worked on it. Though it wasn't exactly Sega saying it.
@gjtrue Well, Brad Buxer said MJ wanted out because he wasn't satisfied with how the tracks sounded. There must be some kind of contract between MJ and Sega: "You can use the tracks, just don't tell they're mine." Just because MJ is dead doesn't mean the contract isn't in force anymore.
MJ seemed to be more of a coordinator than an active contributor in this. Composing the credits theme that would later become Stranger in Moscow with Brad Buxer appears to be his only contribution aside from directing his colleagues (and Scirocco). Tokuhiko Uwabo (aka Bo) had the same kind of role for the Sega Sound Team except he didn't compose at all.
Even if MJ didn't compose them (Buxer, his go-to arranger, is more likely), the songs are still copyrighted to him.
Just to let you know these songs have got a strong connection, but at the end of the day Azure Lake was composed by Howard Drossin who worked for sega has a composer
Guys, get Sonic Mega Drive Ultimate Collection (I think for PS3) and check the 'Museum' for Sonic 3, it says MJ WAS going to do the music for Sonic 3.
rumour has it do to the fact Mj was blamed on molestation SEGA took his orginal tracks abs alternated theme so they would be apart of controversy apartly they are now
you know here is another song mj had in a song he had and it think it was recent but the music had a beat from the song with me by all ends and crush 40 (in sonic and the black knight)
hello DihDin, check out my video response when you get a chance. I think you definitly found a new MJ match up so i was inspired by what you found and made a version that is a little different (only using the MJ acapella)
You know what? This is kinda plausible. There are some subtle similarities that suggest that someone heard the song then managed to come up with this and had no idea where they got the inspiration from :P
they....really don't sound alike...lol. I was wating for it every time, cause ive hear some other comparisons...but its just like...oook..yup....no..not...no....nooo......yeah-no..not alike.. each time on this one.
MJ really did compose music for sonic 3, but it was erased later, but the director wanted to keep the music by keeping the chords, some part of the melody, or the beat. For example, the song, Who is it and ice cap zone.
Sega Got MJ to make some of the music for Sonic 3, But decided to back out of having his name connected to the game due to MJ at the time of the games release, being in hot water with the law in relation to his pending Pedophile Charges.
I spose Sega didnt want a suspected Child Abuser connected to their 'Directed at Children' Video game.
I always thought they sounded similair. This and the end credits bear amazing similairity to his songs, along with Ice Cap Zone and Carnival Night zone. I heard he did do the music but was left out of the credits due to certain things he did
he's also the voice of Sketch Turner in Comix Zone. and not only did he compose music for Sega, but he also composed some original tunes which was used as background music at Universal's Islands of Adventure.
Wikipedia is an un-trustable source, here's the real quote from roger himself.
"Michael Jackson was originally brought in to compose all the music for the game, but at the very end, his work was dropped after his scandals became public. This caused a lot of problems and required a lot of reworking."

"Note: According to Roger Hector, Michael Jackson was contacted to be the music composer of this game, which was known as Sonic 3. Due to the scandals that time, Jackson was not available to support."
Like i said, i think it's Drossin, i think all the competition tracks are from him(i can definately tell Endless Mine is, compare the Act 1 Boss theme, One of the bonus stages and the Staff Roll from Comix Zone)

ooo this is why sonic 3 music is very diferent than sonic and sonic 2, sonic and sonic 2 musics are very similar, but sonic 3 is diferent, why?

Though, there's something about 0:30-1:14. have you tried putting the music together?
Oh, and you misspelled "Comparison" on your video title.

Personally I'd have to say this one was by howard drossin, after they gave MJ the bewt.
Listen to the instruments near the start, the exact same ones used in sonic & knuckles (Flying Battery Zone & Death Egg).
But I guess when Drossin was brought in to finish the soundtrack off - giving him full credit would've been illegal.. ?
