I used to be a fireman at Enfield Loco. One of my drivers was 'Ernie Gray' who used to drive steam trains on the old 'Bunt' branch, he never stopped telling me tales of his work turns on that line. He's dead now but was a good mate of mine. I miss him.
As far as I know, the only station buildings that still exist are Buntingford, and Braughing. Mardock platform is still present, but hidden behind thick vegetation.
We used to walk this line as kids in the mid 70s, we got as far as Widford. We also walked from B'stort to Dunmow along that line. Our fave place was Chappel on the Wakes Colne line where we used to preserve old trains and sleep in the porters room at night with a coal fire going and take it in turns to read out stories from, 'Red for Danger' fab old days.
Lea Valley Railway Club too, that was most totally excellent fun.........ahhhhh.
