now.. that was just that what we expectet when we see a bomber that is tailspinning and "caugt on fire"... bad that no pilots ejectet and come down with little parachutes.
pfft it doesnt need no zero's or bf 109's to do that ..any smartass would think OH ive got a scale model of a b29 , its not gonna be realisitc now is it? :D -wing rips off after spining - FUCK D:<
I remember when he came to Aviation Expo in Ankeny, IA in 1997 because mice had destroyed the wiring harnesses in the 1/5 scale (about 2x the size of this one) B-29 owned by that show.
I also remember him throwing an absolute hissy fit because the show director wouldn't allow him to fly like this after the Friday and Saturday shows because they didn't want this exact thing to happen before he finished the Sunday show.
@Train2590 DURRR its part of the act you tool, listen to him.... The commentator mentions the spin before it occurs and the so called "Fire" goes out before the plane crashes.....
@Train2590@Train2590 That was smoke, part of the stunt, not a fire the wing came off due to the speed and subsequent load on the wing when pulling up.
@humvee600 Damn how retarded are you!!! Search youtube for a video called "Mac Hodges B-29 Aerobatic Demo. Sep 19, 2009" and then you will see the stunt going smoothly.
@humvee600 they make smoke modules for nitro engines too... and why would the fact that it uses a gas engine make you think that it isnt a stunt? Dickface? Seriously? Are you 6 years old?
The builder of the plane was my father, Dan Stevens and pilot of the x-1. He had died approximately a week prior to this event. Both of the men who continue to fly this bird simply did not bolt the wing on. "fire" etc. was part of the show but the downward spiral caused the wing to separate.
The builder of the plane and pilot of the X-1 was my father Dan Stevens. He has died about a week prior to the crash. Mac and Buddy continued to fly the plane at the next exhibition. The "fire" is smoke and part of the show. In their grief I am supposing they did not fasten the wing to the fuselage, causing the wing to detach in the spiral downward.
Hats off to the bulder of this aircraft,in acheiving to rebuild it anyway. It really is mindblowin how these guys manage to salvage anything from this mess.....must be more careful next time lol !!!
You might have, out of common courtesy for those who don't know who the fuck Mac What's-his-ass is, put "RC" in the fucking title of your vid. Thanks for wasting the time it took me to type this. Don't get me wrong, I like the replica of the B-29 but I'm after the real thing.
@r32adt3db I think the smoking engine was prob heating up/weakening the wing materal around it. That combined with the stress of pulling out of the dive did it in.
I can understand it with people who doesn’t have a lot of money and so they have only one model and after a while they fly not scale like but with maneuvers strange to this type of model. But with a man with experience this thing is unforgivable. He should expected this to be happen sooner or later.
If you built scale models you must fly scale. Otherwise built a second aerobatic model and fly with it whatever you like.
OUCH!!! I know he cried over that... That plane must've cost at least $15,000 dollars... Was a real work of art, I look forward to seeing the next one he builds & flies...
That seems heartbreaking. You put all that time, testing, money, effort, and construction to make such a great R/C, then you can't get it out of a spin.
he wrecks these things all over the country. possably the most dangerous pilot in rc. just a matter of time till he kills someone A.M.A. should deff pull his card.

Wow, the retreival team is kinda one person per $500 of wreckage. When your engine failed you span the wrong way mate, your wing would of stayed on if you had spun correctly..
@jwatson06 It has been rebuild and he crashed it again. Also during a flatspin. One engine failed and he couldn't recover. But the damage was minor and the plane did its first post crash testflight one and a half weeks later.
The wing has been made wider than the B-29's narrow glider-shaped wing for lift right? BUT is the rebuilt version going to have the tail true to the shape of the B-29?
