  • @MisterUomoRagno2

  • This one has a particular resonance for me.

As a child in the mid fifties, I used to hang around the biobox at Colin Hatfield's old Roleystone drive-in as Nook Fuller checked to reels through for breaks, then lubed and threaded up the old projectors, Super Standards I think they were.

When a film had a bit of a tear in the sprocket holes, He would give me the damaged cutouts which I took home and in an old metal detonator box of treasures I kept. I've no idea now where they ended up.

  • Remember the first time I saw this movie. Absolutely loved it and the music then. Absolutely still love it now!

  • i'm now 12 years old (and i can assure you, that i have watched many sad movies). This movie was the first that got me crying.

  • 35 people shut their eyes every time a kiss comes on screen...or may be they are strict priests.....

  • @chewjfsh Or they've been burned by the flame of love one too many times & are as bitter as hell

  • @chewjfsh

    Hai ragione...!!!

    Ciao

I see those scenes, really wonderful movie! its a classic! congratulations!!! thanks!

  • It's not a tribute to Hollywood, those are the scenes that the priest cut and that Alfredo preserved

one of the most moving and historic scenes I have ever seen !!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the true Italian cinema! does anyone know the titles of movies that are in this scene?

  • I've always had mixed feelings about Nuovo Cinema Paradiso, as an Italian cinephile, I thought that the film was trying to please too hard a 'Holliwood" crowd...(call me cynical)...having said that.....this scene gets to me...my love for cinema cannot resist it... and I TOTALLY buy it. thanks for posting it.

  • @2010FineArt Ah FineArt, you must love this scene, it is so close to perfect and I don't think the film is Hollywood at all. Not at all schmalzy as the yanks like things, but wonderful and evocative of a time gone by. I love this movie so much. And how lucky you are to be Italian.

  • the violin X)

  • Film STUPENDO !

  • Ûhm_ÄñÿòÑë_wáÑñÃ_chÅt_wIth_mé_Ì_fEËl_sö_lONÊlý_tÒDÅÿ≡

  • perfection.

  • Bella Bella....every piece of film cut up and censored by the Priest with his little bell because of its sexual cont'ent all those years earlier, lovingly stuck together by dear Alfredo for his little friend Toto !!!

The finest movie I have ever seen...'the directors cut'

  • beautiful

  • Beautiful. Always make me cry. In other words, PERFECT!

  • due grandi maestri, grande meraviglioso film

  • This is Ennio Morriconne magic all over the place,i don't deny that "nuovo cinema paradiso" is a great movie but it's the same effect when people listen "nessum dorma" and everyone stars crying

  • the best movie

  • Anyone can identify the lady who takes off her shirt at 0:32 ????? I've got all other films and players identified except this scene.

  • @guch64 She is Jane Russell and the film's name is The Outlaw

  • @scjc90 Thank you for your info. However, I took a liberty of seeing entire film of "The Outlaw" but unforfunately there was no related scenes. Jane Russell apprears in other clips and the face does not match.

  • @guch64 You're right, I'm sorry about the wrong information. Jane Russell is the woman appears at 0:26

I don't want to bother you, but there is an Italian film of 1942 called "Carmela", that movie has a scene where Doris Duranti shows her breast. In fact, that topless caused a controversy between Duranti and Clara Calamai ( 1:26 ). In order to make a face comparison, you should watch a youtube video called "Doris Duranti" and look out for the scene shown exactly at five minutes.

  • @scjc90 Thank you so much for your following up to solve my 3 year long unsolved "mystery". Yes, it maybe Doris !! I was not able to find Youtube's "Carmela", but watching Doris Duranti co-staring with Marcello Mastroianni (?) looks very much like the actress I was looking for all these years. I knew of Clara Calamari but during these years, she was blond and I knew it wasn't her. Now I will look for the film "Carmela", thank you, thank you and thank you !!

  • quelle émotion******

  • Oh! One of the most beautiful, touching moments in the cinema history!

    Than you!

  • oh, my god, how I love this movie, fantastic!

So che domani tornerà tutto come prima.

  • Nobody and I mean nobody can capture the power and heart on your sleeve emotion of this scene in any of the history of cinema. For my Grandpa who showed me his passion and love for those classic movies of yesterday. My biggest fan of my art photography. We love you Grandpa.

  • Without a question from the most beautiful moments of the cinema history..The taste after the finale can't be nothing else but perfection

  • excelente pelicula.....

    aunque muy nostalgica....

  • I can not understand the secne. Can anybody tell me why the old man made this film?

  • @zaku1zaku2 When Toto was young he wanted bring home the film of the cut kisses of movies that the priest told Alfredo to do.Alfredo did'nt give him. He's sure that Toto will return in Sicily for his funeral so he gives him,by his mother, this film he made with all cuts. All the movie turns around kisses and this's the best ending Tornatore could do.Wonderful.

  • @ciurlandon Thank you for your comment! I forgot the scene toto wanted the film. (@_@) I got to watch this long movie again. The film remind him when he was young ,right ?

    thanks!

  • @zaku1zaku2 It starts when Toto is a man and than shows his story starting as a child. There are 2 versions of this movie 1st is less than 2 hours,2nd is 2h 15mins with more story when Toto returns to Sicily as a man. They made the cut for the Oscar contest.Tell me a thing. Is it subtitled in Japan or is it translated?Ciao

  • @ciurlandon Yes.There are both of versions in japan too. Most people in japan likes this movie.

  • @zaku1zaku2 cause the film is set in sicily,in a small village, in the 50 years and people had a strict vision about sex, so the old man had to cut off all the scenes of kisses in the movies he showed to people to avoid the priest of this village get angry...the old men took all this scenes cut off and he puts toghether as gift for the young men sat in the cinema in the last scene...sorry for my english ciao

  • @amatoresciesa thank you. This movie is so good.Is there any good italian movie?

  • @zaku1zaku2 There aren't a lot of movies like this one and i don't say cause i'm italian(consider i love american movies)...in any case i try, hoping to satisfy your desire: "la meglio gioventù", director Marco Tullio Giordana; "Mediterraneo",dir. Salvatores; "Romanzo Criminale", dir. Michele Placido....if you watch them, let me know...

    ciao :)

  • INTERNAZIONALMENTE SENTIMENTALE E MERAVIGLIOSO

  • All peolpe in the world have ears and eyes...Right?Many of us have them direcly connected to heart. Many of us have them passing through brain before heart.People of the 1st category can understand Italian movies mutch better than the others. Many of our directors point the cannon directly there. They distroy your heart for first than,if you survive, you can use your brain to think about what you have seen 2 hours before. We use to do this since the end of the war.We call Italian Neorealismo.

  • I thought I read that fact in Wikipedia in the bio sketch in his life - could be I am off on this one.

  • absolutamente extraordinaria.

  • EXELENTE PELICULA. UNA DE LAS MEJORES DE TODOS LOS TIEMPOS. EL CINE ITALIANO TIENE UN PAR DE PELICULAS QUE REALMENTE TOCAN EL CORAZON ( Ej.

  • The european cinema is now better than Hollywood, i dont want to disrespect, but compare Avatar with this is sin, Europe makes now the same Hollywood made 30 years ago, to put energy in storyline, script and perfomance, Hollywood put now the energy in visual effects, not all the movies yes, but many

  • @CARLOSGURO : Unfortunately, you are right... Stranglely enough, it's the master animators from PIXAR who have picked up the 'European' style of film making - where effects merely exist to support great stories. You are also right about 'Avatar' - it doesn't hold a candle to 'Cinema Paradiso'...

  • I just can't stop crying.

    Best scene ever!!!

    Best movie of all time.

  • Stupendo...

  • I think it's safe to say Nuovo Cinema Paradiso is one of the best movies ever made and probaby it has the best score too. I can't believe yet Tornatore wasn't given an Oscar for Best Movie, Best Directing and Best Editing, the Oscar for Foreign Films is something so useless which is just a little bone thrown at great artists like Tornatore indeed, Fellini, De Sica and many others to quiet the audience and make dumbass American movies win. Because Hollywood can't make movies like this one.

  • @1UpStaff

I can't agree more. The music alongside this particular scene just sent tears to my eyes, happy ones. One of the forgettable moments and best movies ever.....

  • @1UpStaff - I totally agree - as a performing pianist at several venues in the Washington DC area, I always get a positive response from this theme. I look forward to Tornatore's new film, "Leningrad" the music for which is being scored by the greatest of all time, Ennio Morricone.

  • @Pyanistman The first time i read about Tornatore directing a "Leningrad" movie was back in 2003. That's 7 years ago.

  • @1UpStaff Well said man... pozdrav!

  • @1UpStaff tornatore is a great director he definitely deserved something like an oscar.

  • @1UpStaff C'mon don't exagerate... This is my favorite movie but american beauty is a masterpiece also and it's hollywood.

  • è bellissimo, ti fa sognare...piangere...viaggiare...grazie

  • Excepcional...Cinema Paradiso é o melhor filme da história do Cinema Mundial.

  • Both Giuseppe Tornatore and Ennio Morricone built one of most beautiful moment in the recent history of the cinema... impossible don't cry when you watch this video if you saw the film....

  • Morricone made this scene the perfect cinema masterpiece it is. I can't watch without tears. Gorgeous and perfect cinema.
