  • Cada juiz terá uma opinião diferente. O mundo de Star Trek é muito vasto... e maravilhoso...

  • This must have been made before Nemesis as that was one of the best.

Also in my opinion the TOS episodes "A Piece of the Action" and "I, Mudd" were funnier and better than anything with tribbles.

  • No it was made after Nemesis. Imho Nemesis was EL STINKO.

  • @mokwella Each to his own opinion.

    Live long & prosper.

  • I'm so glad you put Balance of Terror in there as it's my personal favourite TOS episode. Mark Lenard steals that show with his performance as the Romulan commander its no wonder they bought Mark back to play Sarek.

I don't think you will get to many arguments with the top 3 (although any order combination of those are still worthy). Best of Both worlds has me on the edge of my seat!

I would like to have seen The Siege of AR-558 and The Die Is Cast from DS9 on that list though.

  • Holy shit, I thought I was the only one who liked 'Darmok.' A lot of Trekkies I know don't appreciate the subtleties of that episode.

  • Undescored Country, Jetrell, The good Shepperd, Time Arrow, Terra Prime.

    Aunque toda lista tiene ausentes.

  • I can`t think off hand what my best is, but I know without a doubt anything having to do with TNG is LAST on my list. God how I hated that show with their damn politically correct anal retentive BS. If I`m not mistaken TNG was also the start of that whole "Where no ONE has gone before" nonsense. Oh puh-lease, the word "man" is short for huMAN. I don`t think any womens groups are going to be screaming bloody murder because you say "where no man has gone before".

  • Yesterday's Enterprise is overrated (and has a very very bad male guest star) Its rank should be given to The Measure of a Man. I agree with Darmok it was one of the most original ideas in TNG. But no Naked Time and Undiscovered Country? That's a shame.

  • YES! *fist pump* Number one was THE BEST!

  • I definitely agree with the top three (Best of Both Worlds parts I and II, Yesterday's Enterprise and Wrath of Khan). But I'm surprised The Enterprise Incident (TOS) or Unification parts I and II (TNG) are not on the list.

  • My list: 1. Inner Light (TNG) 2. Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country 3. Let That Be Your Last Battlefield (TOS) 4. Chain of Command 1-2 (TNG) 5. Redemption 1-2 (TNG) 6. Errand of Mercy (TOS) 7. Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan 8. City on the Edge of Forever (TOS) 9. The Defector (TNG) 10. Day of the Dove (TOS)
  • 11. Hollow Pursuits (TNG)

    12. Unimatrix Zero (Voyager)

    13. The Enemy (TNG)

    14. Balance of Terror (TOS)

    15. First Contact (TNG)

    16. I Borg (TNG)

    17. Amok Time (TOS)

    18. The Drumhead (TNG)

    19. Remember Me (TNG)

    20. A Matter of Honor (TNG)

  • Not a bad list, though I would have thought "Sacrifice of Angels" would have been on the list.

  • Hm, for this alone I might give you only 4 stars. I might.

  • cool picks, easy to guess #1 when your useing the theme from the wrath of khan.

  • @tjmoe Cept the music is from Search For Spock

  • Very hard to argue with most of your choices....However....in My heart...."City on the Edge of Forever" is always # 1

  • Ent ending (just the ending last 1 minute) and some VGR parts should be added.

  • Comment removed

  • Where the hell is...

    Measure of a Man(TNG)

    Duet(DS9)

    Rejoined(DS9)

    The Offspring(THG)

    Someone to watch over me(VGR)

    etc.

  • not a bad list overall at all I say...I disagree with Redemption, Lower Decks, and Family is good, but not top 20 overall...Trouble with Tribbles should be in Top 10 I think...and there are some great VGR episodes, replying to below, like Scorpion and Timeless, I might include in a top whatever list....

  • Voyager did have some good episodes... Just not as good as the best of TNG and DS9.

  • Disagree with Darmok. It is overrated IMO. Also disagree with Space Seed. It is nowhere near the same level as WoK. Overall solid list. Glad that no VOY or Enterprise episodes were on there.

  • great list! I agree 110% with number one in particular

  • Your list is very, very strong. Granted that any such list will have personal idiosychratic favorites, I didn't strongly disagree with any choice here.

In my personal list, I find spots for TNG's "The Inner Light" and "The Measure of a Man", and DS9's "In The Pale Moonlight", at the expense of shoving "Lower Decks", "Darmok", and "Space Seed" into the "next 20".

As I say, I like the last three quite a bit, just like my three a bit better.

  • The inner light .. is one of the best things on tv ever ...well it was

  • Interesante

Pero creo que The Best of Both Worlds es mejor que Yesterday´s Enterprise.

y faltó Inner Ligth y Flashback

  • The only one I feel was missing was the TNG episode Inner Light. In my own opinion it held very true to the ideas behind Trek. The understanding of cultures beyond our own and appreciation of what such a people can create.

  • yeah, "changing" the past doesn't destroy the original universe it creates a new universe that branches off from where the change takes place. Best reboot to a series I've seen :P

  • I didn't like the Wrath of Kahn. It was too scarey with the bugs in the ear. Don't remember much else except there may have been some bloody scenes I really hated. Gave me nightmares, but I was little. I liked the humpback whale one.

  • 6 seems to get overlooked on this list but its my favoritetoo behind wrath of kahn

  • Motion Picture is brilliant and deserves to be here.

Otherwise, I agree mostly with all

  • The list is OK but obviously compiled by a TNG fan. Lets's see if 20 years from now anyone cares about BEST OF BOTH WORLDS. 40 years later CITY ON THE EDGE OF FOREVER is still considered one of the best episodes of television . . . of any show of any genre. And 20, 40, 60 or more years CITY will still be considered a classic hour of drama. WORLDS will be a two-parter some trekkies talk about in the retirement home.

  • great top 20! A true fan, lotta OS on the top 10.

  • it just was not necessary. and it does FEEL like a wipe. No matter what the writers say in interviews, it FEELS "na,na, we don't care about fourty years of storywriting". Sad thing. Great actors, very good production design (except for the Narrada - not Romulan at all), but the storyline? no.

  • @PmmGarak Great actors? You lowered the bar for sure.

  • Aww, no place for Undiscovered Country?

My personal favourite of all the Star Trek films though I can totally agree why Wrath of Kahn takes #1 slot. That is an utter classic.

  • I woulda put Tapestry, The Visitor, and Far Beyond the Stars in the top ten at least.

  • Great list, i'd agree with most of them. I'd add "In the hands of the Prophets" as a strong comment on power misuse in religious groups, and "in the pale moonlight", of course. And if there had to be Voyager, "one" would be a good one - not just because most of the crew is in stasis....

Too bad this rich timeline was wiped by the fear new fans could be overwhelmed by a rich background....

  • I hated redemption

what about the Inner Light? what was a great episode, I think next to darmak it is the best. I cried the first time I saw it, and I don't cry often...

  • I love the character of Khan, but half of the movie was filler.

Missing on the list: The Siege of AR 558

and ESPECIALLY: IIn the Pale Moonight

  • Nothing can beat The Wrath of Khan!

  • Almost all the two parters are strong contenders in my opinion. Except for Enterprise, I don't think a single good story came out of that trash.

  • "Do you know what you get when you feed a tribble too much?"

  • A well thought out list, I may have chose different ones but the ones chosen here are all strong and well deirected pieces of trek, the best trek really is within the first three series Voy has ok moments but hasnt aged well, since growing up i feel Voy lacked direction and strong stories and had far too many weak actors and characters in its main cast. Only Kate Mulgrew was stellar and possibly Ethan Phillips the rest were weak and annoying.

  • Darmok... a species that communicates entirely in metaphors... (!)

  • I wouldve added "Duet" from the first season of DS9. That episode was so powerfull, and the way Kira and the cardassian interacted was fantastic.

  • Voyager's "Scorpion" 1&2 are as good as any of the best TNG episodes!

  • are you joking? those 2 episodes destroyed the borg. In that episode the borg were turned from the best, evillest, strongest most awesome villains into voyagers beating bag. In TNG one cube destroys 39 federation ships. In scorpion, 15 cubes get pulverised in 2 second.

  • Yes, Scorpion didn't have the tension that "Best of Both Worlds 1 and 2" had. Still, it was a bizarre alien race that had the Borg's number... after all, no matter how tough you are in life, there will always be someone tougher.

Anyway, Scorpion didn't make the mistake of having that silly "Borg Queen" that really limited the Borg... also, the Queen was to human acting... like some bitchy vamp.

  • The Spock episode on Vulcan (can't recall the name) may have not been stellar but gave us some background on Spock.

  • What about "Trials and Tribble-ations", "The Doomsday Machine", "Relics", and "The Undiscovered Country"?

  • Actually I think each of these would make my top 30 list.

  • Amok Time??? Are you Insane?

With the exception of the 'trouble with tribbles' all the other choices are excellent, well done.

  • Totally agree with the number one spot.

    love the list.

  • why nothing from voyager?

  • I know!

  • well most hardcore Star Trek fans don't really like Voyager. There was way too much inconsistent writing for there to be good arcs. There were a few but I don't it belongs on this list.

  • i agree, Voyager generally sucked, but there were a few really good episodes

  • What about "The Killing Game", "The Outcast", "Offspring", "Year of Hell"? But I was happy to see "Yesterday's Enterprise" on the list, I was starting to think it wasn't going to make it :-)

  • No Inner Light or Pale Moonlight?

  • good list, but i think the casts of these shows would ask why you forgot "The Inner Light"

  • 'Shaka, when the walls fell.'

  • I don,t think so!

  • the visitor and far beyond the stars are shamefully low down, they easily meet top 10 standard at least.

First contact i felt was awful, one of the worst ST films out there, it destroyed the sinister edge the borg had with that poorly thoguht out concept that was the queen.

  • No problem with your list, but would have had 'Inner Light' and 'Chain of Command' as well and left out some others.

    For Top will always be

City on the Edge of Forever

    Mirror, Mirror

    Balance of Terror

    cheers

  • Good call, good call!!

  • I really miss having new episodes on TV.

  • Not bad. I would have rearranged them some, let one or two out, slipped another one or two in.

But that would be my list. I don't really have any problem with yours.

  • Not a bad list, but "The Doomsday Machine" and "The Tholian Web" should have been on the list.

  • "The Inner Light" also deserves top ten mention.

  • Here is my list of my favorite series's. fans of the newer shows and younger fans will probably disagree with me, but remeber I like all the shows. I just have preferences and favorites amongst them, so i am not "dissing" any of your favorite shows:

    1.) STAR TREK

    2.) STAR TREK (Cartoon)

3.) STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION

    4.) ENTERPRISE

    5.) VOYAGER

    6.) DEEP SPACE NINE

I obviously am more of a fan of the orignals than I am the newer shows.

  • yeah...thats pretty accurate. You put mostly TOS and TNG Episodes in the Top Twenty, which everyone knows were the best two STAR TREK series. You should have included TAS episodes, though. I know it was underrated, but they stories were really good, as well as the animation, considering the time period in which it was produced.

Yes, kulemv, Roddenbury shouldn't have altered the appearance of the Klingons so much in TNG.

There is a retconned explanation for that though.

  • I would have had Trials and Tribble-ations in the top five, excellant DS9 episode.

  • city on the edge of forever is my favorite

  • i hate that in tng they changed the klingons so much from tos

  • That change happened in The Motion Picture, a decade before TNG aired.

  • Wow... when it comes to Star Trek, you and I are far apart.

  • ST 4 was NOT an episode neither was ST 2 or First Contact, the DS9 ep "the Visitor should be in the top 10, I hated "Far Beyond the Stars", "Darmok" better that "Tapestry"?...no, and since you added movies, which you shouldn't have, you forgot the one of the greatest episodes ever.....TNG "the Inner Light."
