@omglolroflman you should be the one shutting up. A classic? Duh! You're so ignorant. Scanners, Terminator, Pitch Black are good examples of classic sci fi movies. They're repeated & emulated by subsequent science fiction films. This isn't true of Blade Runner because its so shallow & boring! Its not for a paid & tendentious film critic to decide which/what is a classic sci fi movie. Its for the audience & time to decide.
Best scifi film ever made. Probably THE most prophetic film ever made. The world this movie portrayed unfolded before my eyes the past 28 years. Cities from New York to LA to Vegas seemed to become the landscape of this film over time. The entire concept was way ahead of it's time
Easily the best sci-fi film ever made--finally a trailer that owns up to the real thing. Doesn't exactly keep with the grittyness of the film, but it generates a helluvalot more intrest than the origonal trailer. RGH. Now I have to go watch it for the millionth time. Excuse me.
I've just watched both the Original 1982 Cut and Ridley's "The Final Cut". I am not sure which version that I like better. I do feel that in parts Deckard Voice Overs are extremely clunky, but they do give some insight into his character, and watching the movie without them the space seemed empty. However I do agree that the V.O. right after Roy's death is horrible and it kills the solemn mood. I think to get the full vision of the movie you need to watch both versions.
Watched this film for the first time on the weekend and I have one word for it - OVERATED. The music is good. The effects aren't too bad considering it’s nearly 30 years old - Ridley could have taken a few lesson from Lucas though. Harrison is as dry as he’s ever been. Its so dreary I felt depressed. It doesn't stop raining (good way to cut costs I suppose)! I'm a fan of Minority Report and expected this adaptation to be as good - instead I was disappointed.
If you consider Minority Report a better movie than Blade Runner, you have absolutely no taste. MR is filled with plotholes and a lot of it seems very dull. BR on the other hand has a great story, incredible cinematography and is just all around a better experience. But I'm not surprised as MR has more action and bumbum, while BR takes its time and you should have an attention span that is longer then that of a fly...
This film bespeaks Oscars for: All of these categories. Best Special EFX Best Cinematography Best Costume Design Best Art Design Best Screenplay based on a written work Best Score Best Music Best Set Design Best Picture Best Actors Rutger Hauer, Harrison Ford Best Supporting Actors Joanna Cassidy Best Director Ridley Scott

I'm waiting for the final extended pirate's treasure chest deli's cold cut combo with previously unreleased holographic strippers encore edition before I buy this again. The obvious thing to do would be to put the narration and the final version together, but they won't until Black Hawk Down gets released 3 more times. I'm also waiting for the Super Fun Happy version of Timecop. Remember, same matter can't occupy the same space, nor can two versions of the same movie.
I wish they made a sequel like with tron that came out 20 years ago and now a sequel is coming out. Hopefully the original director makes the sequel for blade runner-which may never happen.
@teta809 i dont think you could make another bladerunner as it ties up at the end the way its supposed to but i agree i would love to see something else set in this universe on the off world colonies perhaps, in saying that i have always felt this is the same universe as the aliens one albeit set way before it, anyone else think like that? they did both have the same visual futurist design stuff so i suppose thats where it comes from
@planetcucumber Well, Philip K. Dick wrote the novels behind both Blade Runner (Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep) and Total Recall (We Can Remember It for You Wholesale) and as far as I can remember. . . both stories happen in the same universe. Don't quote me on that though. I'm pretty sure the Alien films do not ;)
Even after all these years something has just occurred to me... I don't think Roy Batty ever intended to kill Deckard, but he did intend to make him fight for his life, and then Roy makes his monologue... and Deckard understands...
This film is one of the most brilliant films I have ever seen.
@idkmm7 Deckard probably was an experiment too, like Rachel. This means that they both were not conceived as strong and agile as Nexus6 (Batty, Pris, Leo and Zhora), but were given emotions and memories to feel like humans. Replicants are humanoids genetically speaking so they feel pain too.
@idkmm7 Sure it could be human, but if you think about the unicorn scene, Deckard is dreaming about a mythologic creature, something you would not find in the real world but in your own imagination. If Deckard were human, that wouldn't explain why at the end of the film he discovers the omigami unicorn left by Gaff at his apartment, unless you suppose that he is just a human with implanted memories, not a replicant.
A movie I never get tired of watching. Getting to finally see it on the big screen in 2007 was just fantastic and a dream come true. IMO, the best science-fiction film ever made.
Ι always cry in awe every time I watch this film! It's one of the greatest films ever made and definitely the best sci-fi! This film stands for allmost 30 years and it will be for ever!!
This film is an artist/ painter's dream. Many of us directors have used this film as a template of inspiration. Everything is perfect in this film. Perfect camera shots. Perfect lighting. Perfect editing. Perfect use of colors. Perfect writing. Perfect sound. Perfect music. Perfect acting. Perfect directing. To me this is the most visually artistic film ever made. All any other films can do is imitate it because "Blade Runner" started it- the first of its kind.
@filmbuff98 i love how you say "many of "us" directors". on your page you got some shit home made movie which is fucken terrible with bad actors LOL your no director.
I love, Love, LOVE this movie! I can see how people can see it as pretentious but it took me almost a 3rd viewing to appreciate it: 1st time was when I was a kid and saw the theatrical cut then when I saw the director's cut for the 2nd time I realized how much smarter ridley scott was than me. Beautiful film watch it and don't expect a shoot em up movie but a phlisophical sci-fi film noir!
Does anybody know, where I can download this trailer in high quality, or in HD? I love this version - for me the best od all trailers for Blade Runner!
its my favorite film of all time. if you think this trailer accurately represents the movie and hasnt been updated for today (michael bay'd if you will) then youre an idiot.
Possible the most implicitly Christian film ever released by Hollywood

This movie is amazing. The novel, in all honesty, was terrible, Ridley Scott really changed a forgettable book into a godly masterpiece.

What cut of this movie should I see? RIdley's final cut? The director's cut of Kingdom of Heaven is incredible.

@Keruaran I think he wanted Deckard to feel close to death (as Roy Batty was at the time), so he can understand how it feels.

if deckard is a replicant, why does he scream in pain and why is he so severly outmatched by batty?
