The Battle of Culloden... Englishman.... Was the final battle of the Jacbite Rising...One Mans attempt to get the Crown and rule of United Kingdom.. And that was not a battle between England and Scotland... There where fighting Scots on both sides aswell there was an english Lord with his Men on the Jacobite side...
the music was written after a poem to all those who were slaughtered at the battle of Floddenfield, just across the tweed river.Led by the cocky James IV the Scots were outnumbered by the mighty english army led by the earl of Surrey. The king himself died or fled (his body was never found). This was the last great battle beetween a regular Scottish and english army..many years later the exiliated Bonnie Prince Charlie led the scots against the englishmen at Culloden moor..but with no better result
Flowers of the Forest means that men who fought and died in war, many years ago, were buried on the exact spot where they died. I believe this happened in Scotland.
